Corypheus is such empty and moronic villain as well. His motivation is retard and his methodology is childish. Instead of bomb all chantry/mage/Templar leaders to hell and ****** off everybody, He could easily copy from crazy Radovid, corrupting/patronizing certain high level figures within the chantry declare a witch hunt / crusade on mages (guess how many Templar will jump at that :P) to effectively demolished the both the reputation and power of chantry, Templar order and mage cycle at the same time. Cassandra and Leliana need to work really hard to escape the fire pyre. By promising blood mage or forest elves their own sovereignty in a blight weaken Ferelden, they could easily turn it into a frying pan (Emhyr and Gleanna send their regards). Racism, superiority, discrimination and historical bad blood plus simply manipulation and patronizing for the stupid aristocrat classes in both countries , Orlei and Tenvitor really doesn't need much motivation to get on each others throat. Then simply  inform Qunari is time to party, hardly image they will say not. The world will simply consume itself. Poor Corypheus really does not need much brain and that do everything himself attitude to become a master schemer in DAI's setting. Instead of the stupid "big bad black ancient mage" on a big bad black dragon/arch demon. What a tragedy.

I don't think Corypheus is that bad. ;)

He's not one of my favorites either, but still. I think he's got an interesting place in the story when it comes to the subject of "Faith". He parallels the Inquisitor's struggle with faith.

Don't the books borrow heavily as is?

Also I would recommend Bioware team to watch Yes, minister/ prime minister series. Truly masterpiece! :)

I agree; more than that, he was my top choice for the villain as a returning character. My previous reply was more 'reflective' in nature; a simple attempt to mirror the criticism.

Not quite there yet. Radovid's father is simply amazing and cunning as hell. Fortest/Brotest is also quite memorable political animal. My favourite Francesca Findabair just has 30 second dialog. Unacceptable!

Folbest is my favourite king lol. I also like Queen Meve, shame she doesn't appear in the games.

What do you mean Francesca Findabair only has 30 seconds of dialog? The she-elf we talk to with Yennefer is the other elf in the lodge, can't remember her name.

This is what DA:I needs. It would be nice if DA:I had multiple endings based on your choices like Witcher not just one. Win party ending. Imagine If Cory wins or Inquisitor wins just barely everyone dies only Inquisitor left "Is it truly victory?" But probably DA players couldn't handily it.

I hated how you were teased, that the game can end with the Inquisitior entering the Fade/Black City instead of Corypheus (Morrigan asks you if you would do it, given a chance) and that could never happen.

Hell, even Baldur's Gate Saga ended with you being able to choose whether you wish to absorb Bhaal's power and become a god, or reject it and live your life as a mortal.

They could have made an epilogue, where you enter Black City and either find yourself trapped there/you die/you unleash some horror on the world... Or perhaps become a powerful spirit. Or you become tainted with the Blight.

They could have made an epilogue, where you die alongside Corypheus sealing the Breach (for example if you didn't aquire enough power or whatever).

Inquisition seemed like it would be so much more at first, and turned out to be just really good. It had potential to be exceptional, and that hurt me the most after ending.

That was Ida Emean. She is Aen Seidhe Sage (like Avallac'h is an Aen Elle Sage).

Broltest is one of my favoruites as well, except his choice of bed-warmer of course. But still way better than Duny. (that animal!)

Yeah, for everything that CDPR got right I feel they didn't convey how bad a person Duny really is in the game. In the books he is significantly worse than how he is in the game.

I think in general they were going for a pro-Nilfgaard story. If you look at the endings Radovid's victory is just 100% bad, not really any pros to choosing him. Dijkstra's is a bit more grey, but Nilfgaard's victory only focuses on the positives of how happy Temerians are, and ignores what happens to Aedirn, Redania, Lyria etc.

The commander at White Orchid who comes across as fair, allowing the villagers to negotiate how much grain they will give the garrison. In the books they burn Cintra, Vengerberg and any villages the come accross to the ground slaughter any civilians they capture and all the jazz.

Considering that they're giving us an opportunity to

Spoiler
it's quite obvious why they have to show them as... well... irredeemable, or at least not as bad.

Plus, it's just that sort of hilarious irony (which the ending actually points out, directly) that the one country/power people were most worried about is - at the end - is the one that turns out to offer the optimal choice for the least bloody/probably most tolerant/most prosperous solution for Continent's problems.

Bioware should watch House of Cards and set the next game in the Tevinter Imperium.

No, it's about politics. The main character is a really dark anti hero of a politician with beautifully written monologues, imo. He breaks the fourth wall a lot, and sometimes it can be downright spooky.

His personality is kind of perfect for a Tevinter Magister.

I had imagined the other show. It was a mistake. You may all shake thy heads in disappointment.

But I wouldn't mind that show. The lawyer show I couldn't imagine.

Which version the old UK one from the 1990s starring Ian Richardson or the new Kevin Spacey version set in the USA? Not watched the new version myself but I understand Kevin Spacey is more obviously ruthless, where as I remember Ian Richardson as being very subtle about being very ruthless, he was brilliant as Francis Urquhart.

*snip*

Sorry about all your health troubles. Sounds like you have a full plate. Seems like I read an article once that talked about a company that was going to develop controllers for people who had issues with their hands. I wish I could remember where I read it. I broke a finger a couple of years ago and it was quite a chore to game (not to imply that a broken finger is akin to osteo-arthritis, but I can understand somewhat about the frustration)

How is it for you in places in games where you have to constantly hold down a button, for example horse riding, running, etc? Can't imagine that is a walk in the park.

On topic: Something else that impresses me is the detail they put into social classes. The peasants really look like a lower class to the nobles. Dirty, torn clothes, dirty bodies, crooked and rotting teeth and poor verbal skills and speech. Once more, the devil is in the details and CDPR really went the distance in defining their game and giving it a personality. Everytime I play, there is something else that stands out to me.

Thanks, just got duff genes LOL...  It depends on the controller, the PlayStation type controller is better for me, I find the XBox type too bulky. Once I get the position sorted it isn't too bad as it's usually a key I can hold with my thumb, first person shooters are out of the question though because I find it hard to aim and shoot quickly. Games like DAI, ME, Witcher 3 I usually play on the lower difficulty settings as there isn't so much pressure to move quickly out of the way. I recently got Batman: Arkham Knight and that is unfortunately giving me problems because my hands don't work fast enough, but unlike some I am not camped on Rocksteady's forum or here demanding that they change the controls for me  ;)  I will keep trying with it and at worst just trade it in for a game I can play  :D

Don't know about anyone else here or if it's just me, but I am finding some quests much more emotional on my second Witcher 3 playthrough

Spoiler

I agree on noticing more of the brilliant little touches to the villagers, nobels etc too, everything CDProjekt have done to make the world feel alive has really paid off, you do find yourself caring more about outcomes. I love how decisions made in the game make a difference like in Skellige's Most wanted, makes me want to do another playthrough in the future to see what happens if you play like a homicidal maniac rather than sparing the intelligent monsters like I have been doing...

I'm in the middle of playing TW3 for the 3rd time.  I was fighting in the arena during the Get wh**eson junior quest.  For whatever reason I decided to throw some bombs at the audience thinking nothing would happen only for the guy to stop the show and tried to kill me for hurting the audience.  Wh**reson never showed up and the dwarves didn't raid the place. lol!  TW3 is still surprising me. :)

I finished The Witcher one and two.

No complaints about Witcher one. Two however made me crazy with the whole, "Meditate to drink a potion." Before leaving the first village I installed a MOD to fix that crap.

I will say this:

While I love the DA franchise, The Witcher 3 simply out ranks DAI all the way. Its refreshing to play an adult game without the hand-holding and p!ss poor writing. An open world game with tons to do and not barren landscapes fighting the same boring enemies repeatedly. And of course your choices do matter! In fact the moment you make a choice in The Witcher 3 it plays an immediate impact on the world and those within. And as an added bonus The Witcher 3 gives you loads of free mini DLCs. Where as DAI they nick and dime you for every little thing.

Not saying future DA games should be like The Witcher 3. I am saying it should be more grown-up and take their time making sure to add in the big details as well as the little details. DAI almost seems like an attempt to veer towards adult but they quickly pull back like a mouse seeing a cat.

I am struggling to finish TW1 third playthrough, it's very involved and this time I installed that "full combat rebalance" and on hard so I have to use alchemy. NO regrets but I'm glad you brought up mods for TW2.

Can't wait to finish my playthroughs of 2.
