I'm overwhelmingly in his corner with regards to DAI. I love the game.

But abruptly (and cheerfully, not even apologetically) dropping old gen support without offering any sort of fig leaf to those players is bad. Exploitative DLC is bad. This goddamn MP focus (when the MP is garbage, unlike ME3) is bad. And locking satisfying SP content behind MP participation is bad.

They've made some mistakes, here. I love Bioware to an embarrassing degree, but I'm still quite happy to criticize them when they screw up. They're screwing up.

There is nothing wrong with loving Bioware, even at an embarrassing level. I like Bioware a lot. I used to love them, but the disappointment has made me weary. The problem with some people(not talking about who, but I am sure you can guess) is that they see others who don't love Bioware as much as they do as a threat. They see adoring other gaming companies as a traitorous act that needs to be stamped out with post after post.

I believe thoughts like that come from a very insecure place. A realization that something they love may have faults and people pointing out those faults makes it harder to be blind to them.

Personally, I think you can see something's faults and still love it, still want it to improve so that it will continue to grow and exist.

However, I will say this latest dlc thing is a real turd in the punch bowl. I don't blame old gen users for being irate. I am a little irate for them. It's dirty pool.

Seems some take to pottery a bit more adeptly than to psychology; understandable.

Personally, hope that TW3 does well, but do not wish the DA series to go that route. Mounted combat? Certainly. Griffins? Could be fun, especially now that mounts are in the games. But want the DA series to be different; better is preferred.

Which, to reiterate, is not what anyone was really talking about in the last couple of pages, but sure. One thing is certain, nickle and diming people with exploitative DLC is not a road to success.

G'night, people. Hopefully, they'll walk some of this dumb stuff back tomorrow.

Bringing it back to TW3, is it me or are Devourers the most grotesque monsters ever? Something very vile about them. I mean, most of the monsters are creepy or weird, but it's something about Devourers that make my skin crawl.

If they are anything like the ones in TW1, they are hideous and I assume they errr devour humans, or dead bodies like drowners.. What makes them particularly special aside from their strength and weight?

Charging for work is not exploitive, and is exactly how many have achieved success. It certainly is not Pay to Win; tis items that are not essential for gameplay.

Tbh, they don't seem to look like the ones from TW1. They don't seem to be as.....thick. These seem a lot stronger and a lot more foul. Though, I don't really find them to be a tough enemy, especially when I get Geralt pimped out. They're just sick.

My favorite enemy is the werewolf. I am a huge werewolf lover. So, any game that has them gets thumbs up from me.

Bioware will always have a special place in my heart. But, thru their OWN ACTIONS I have realised that they are now just another game studio.

You know, I have read a lot of statements from people who say that TW3 isn't as good as representing strong women like DAI and how they sexualize women, how they're only used as objects, etc.

But as I play TW3 for the second time, I have to say that it has a lot of examples of strong, competent and liberating women. I would even venture to say it highlights it more than DAI.

Spoiler

I am sure there are more, those are just te ones off the top of my head. I didn't mention any of the Lodge because I think they speak for themselves. I think TW3 did a great job with how they handled that.

Her side quest is better than most games main quests. It's such an amazing story with an incredible satisfying pay-off (if you play your cards right) at the end.

I found it a very welcome change to have truly competent characters like Cerys who don't need handholding by the protagonist. She has a plan and it's not stupid, just quite daring. I loved how the quest gave me a feeling of teamwork as opposed to babysitting.

Yeah, and the music on Spikeroog really drove the emotional moments in that quests i think.

So true. This is another reason why I hate people criticizing the game without having playing it all. I have seen a lot of people who do not play TW3 just because of "treating women as objects and weak" and then spread rumors that harms the game reputation. For goodness sake the just look at Ciri. She is one of the strongest women in the game far more powerful than Geralt.

There is also that herbalist that you must see in the beginning of your first griffin quest. She seemed pretty no nonsense, too.

Any game that has prostitutes or women being treated badly is automatically sexist. IMHO, silencing the reality that prostitutes exist further negatively stigmatises prostitution and silencing the reality that women are treated badly further encourages sexist attitudes towards them because men in the game are also treated badly. Maybe I'm biased, but when AC2 came out and had prostitutes I was like 16/15 or something and I sort of was off put with the prostitutes because they're horrible people, right? But playing the game made me realise really, they're just people and it's not they who should be judged, because they're simply fulfilling a demand in the society.

Give me a few years and I ended up doing gay fetish escort work for politicians and businessmen to pay my student fees, hospital fees (spent 9 months in a ward, yo) and stupid Australian rent. There's nothing 'weak' or objectifying about being part of the sex industry. I've met lovely people from a whole variety of backgrounds in the industry - some were single parents, some were recovering drug addicts needing money for their rehab treatment, some were victims of domestic violence who needed quick cash so they could move away and some just needed to pay off the stupid mortgage prices here. It takes a lot of strength to 'demean' yourself - to look society in the eye and say you don't care what it thinks in order to survive and not depend on the poor quality government support.

She is the lady of lake :P

But not matter how powerful she is, my Geralt could still spank her when she is naughty.

"The crossbowman pretended not to hear. Skellen swore, grabbed the crossbow, jumped up the stairs, knelt and aimed. Geralt immediately covered Ciri with his body, but the girl slipped past him and as the rope from the crossbow twanged, she was already in position. She twisted her sword into the upper quarter and the bolt hit it so hard it hung in the air a long time before falling to the ground.

“Very good,” Geralt muttered. “Very good, Ciri. But if you ever do something like that again, you’ll get a spanking.”

True. I believe Yenn and Ciri has a thing or two ( or a fireball or two in Yenn's case) to say to Polygon. That was a true agenda shoving covered up as a review.
