Sten; "People are not simple. They cannot be summarized for easy reference in the matter of: 'elves are a lithe, pointy eared people who excel at poverty."

Yeah, take that one quote that is completely unrelated to the subject as proof that Qunari is oh so open minded, when pretty much everything else Sten says shows that they are not.

I don't know if my original statement was accurate it was just an impression. But I feel iffy on that. Is that a good thing really?

Would you be so kind as to explain this differently? I'm not quite sure what you mean by it.

They way they view gender alone doesn't make them open-minded.

Back on topic: I really do enjoy how the people respond to Geralt for the things he does. I liked when I liberated a village and a man told me how if he has a kid, he'll name it after Geralt for all he did to help them.

I also like some of the banter from bandits and such. One bandit leader shouted, "What's wrong with you lot? Stop running into his sword!" Thought that was really funny. Everything just seems more natural and interactive when that happens.

Disclaimer: I know I have played it once already, but sometimes I am slow with banter.

Topic at hand: I really liked Elihal (I think that's hus name)Novigrad. I think they handled the situation well and was very informative with it. It was well done.

Indeed, look at how they treat their own mages, and Iron Bull's comment about what 'WOULD' happen if they took over.

Perhaps I should have left more than the quote; I did not mean for it to give the impression that it was as "proof that Qunari is oh so open minded" but to give the impression that it could be used to suggest by Sten or the writers that he does not or cannot properly convey the Qun as a whole and therefore he should not be seen as the all-knowing source about the Qun as oppose to simply being a soldier's view of things from his cultured perspective.

I'll have to find the dialogue to be sure but I believe it goes somewhat like this;

Warden: "Tell me of the Qun"

Sten: "No."

Warden: "Now you are just being difficult"

Sten: "People are not simple. They cannot be summarized for easy reference in the matter of; 'elves are a lithe, pointy eared people who excel at poverty"

It is, however, only my opinionated view on one of the possible interpretations of the quote.

I lol'd when I walked past a kid and he asked, "are you going to dismember me?" In a curious tone, not like he was scared for his life or anything.

Sorry about that, The whole deal with the Qun is matter for a different thread and we've managed to have a thread like this running for almost 250 pages so I'd be regretful if I helped derail into a close by continuing.

I just entered Novigrad for the first time in my very first playthrough and by the lords, this city is absolutely massive. I truly hope in the next Dragon Age we'll be able to explore a city this scale. I remember when first entering Val Rouyeux, I was so excited but then I was immediately crushed when I realized that the tiny market square was all there was to explore. The city was described on many occasions as being incredible, huge and beautiful, and here we were...locked in a small square with 4-5 shops.

Another thing The Witcher 3 does masterfully well and which DA:I very much dissapointed me with was the music. Not the quality as I thought DA:I's music was very good but the way it was used. Exploring felt painfully empty and boring in DA:I due to the lack of music playing (though this wasn't the only reason). Oh sure, a small theme kicked in for 30 seconds before going dark again, but it just made it more frustrating. In TW3, when running around with Roach I get this fantastic atmospheric music playing around, making the exploration and the areas feel far more alive and it gives them personality.

When I read the developers removed music from areas on purpose to "allow us to listen to the fauna and the environment", I was left shocked at how they thought it was a good idea.

I generally agree with KBomb but I didn't think this was offtopic.

I really hope the next DA wows me with a large city. It really is time. I haven't been to Novigrad yet but Oxenfurt was better than Val Rouyeux. I mean their market place actually felt like a marketplace instead of one stationary merchant and a couple more in stores that have no customers.

I almost wish a DLC would be made for the rest of Val Rouyeux, and have something happen in a really large, expansive city. Not that I am sure what that quest would look like as I don't think there are loose ends in the story that would bring you there.

From what I have read of TW3, a large city included into the remaining world is something that could be intriguing for DA4. What I do not wish to occur is being bound to a city as in DA2 again; even would like one that could be skipped for the most part if desired.

There is no need to apologize! I wasn't trying to moderate. I just wanted to bring up the bit about banter and thought it would sound odd to do so since everyone was talking about transgenders. Those two topics don't really coincide, so, I just meant-- back in topic about the Witcher 3. I am sorry if you thought I was trying to throw a monkey wrench, especially since everyone was discussing it in a civil tone. I should have maybe worded it differently. I even edited it to include my thoughts on how TW3 handled the topic.

Edit: Besides, this thread has been taken off topic quite a few times and hasn't been closed. I think as long as everyone is civil, it will be okay.

I admit I liked him much better in other games

Could be just second hand information when I say this but there's nothing more to his character anymore. It's just one "Must kill elves/dwarves and magisters/witches whenever possible"

Such a shame.

I kinda disagree. He helped the eternal flame with their "cleansing" in novigard because he figured without mages it would be easier to take the city.He gets whoreson to work with him so he can bust up the big four. He attacks kawedin so nstead of 2 weakened enemies nilfgarad now has to fight 1 strong enemy. All in all not too shabby.

I was referring to his character. I'd have to be insane to want him to stay alive given his stance toward mages.

Seconded. I've been gaming since the 80s now and I'm not easily impressed, but Skellige and its music made stand still to look and listen more than once. It's a thing of beauty.

Phillipa murdered his father what would except his attitude towards the lodge? The witch hunt is perfect opportunity for a young king to consolidate his power and wealth. Nothing would be more useful than zealous mobs to do one's betting.

Hey I have no sympathy for the lodge, granted I only played tw1 so far and saw a lot of 3 and spoiled 2 for myself.. From what I heard about what the Lodge tried to do in the books with a certain character, lets just say I care not for them.

But all mages? What would he do to Yenn if he had a chance? Bah. Screw him.
