I was really hoping the alternate look for Triss would have been the Witcher 2 outfit.

Funny detail, you can actually see her Witcher 2 outfit laying around in her old apartment in Novigrad.

Quests and decisions that have consequences, a properly filled open world, much less pointless harvesting and looting, and much better gameplay. Also CD Projekt Red is giving out Free DLC specifically to divert from the greedy norm, putting Inquisition to shame.

Please don't take people's individual preferences personally here. There are a lot of things the majority of us can agree on!  :)

Also, fair warning, there are spoilers in this thread for the Dragon Age and Witcher franchises so read with caution. If you're contributing to the thread, please use "Spoiler" tags for discussing story elements.

God forbid but TW3 is far from perfect especially gameplay wise.CPR did a good job with characters and story, presentation but the gameplay is almost as bad as in the witcher 2.Both games have ups and downs.

You guys are a terrible influence, I just bought a cheap second-hand xbox 360 so I can play Witcher 2 (neither my ancient PC, not that I can play on my pc anymore anyway due to disability etc or laptop can play it), just hope my fingers can cope with the xbox controller...  :o

I do have both 1& 2 for the pc just became to ill to play on computer hence the switch to console gaming... Perhaps once they have finished Cyberpunk CDPR will remaster 1&2 for next gen consoles...

If I can offer a little advice, I found that TW2 was a bit slow going in, but once I left Flotsam, it really started to pick up. I say this only because a couple of friends of mine found it boring at first, until I urged them to stick with it and they were certainly glad they did.

Have fun playing it! Let us know what you think.

Thanks, I enjoyed the first one, so I am sure I'll enjoy the second one, I will certainly persevere with it... Funny thing is even taking the cost of the second hand 360 and W2 it's cheaper than DAI ...

Still loving W3 on my third play through now, has anyone killed the

Its not actually that bad, freeing it is still the better option but its not a blatantly evil path, like say, murdering Keira Bezt.  :D

Just finished the wonderful Tower Full of Mice quest. Absolutely fantastic for a side quest. It's funny how these people come into your life for maybe a half hour, but you can really care about them.

One thing I'm slowly realizing with the Witcher is the side quests can also be inter-related and flesh out the world. I don't know how to use the spoilers function, so I won't elaborate too much - but I love how you learn something about the world in passing, and then unexpectedly a side quest will add a piece to the puzzle. Or things townspeople talk about come up later in a quest.

It might not seem like a big deal, but I'm used to villagers just spouting nonsense and wasn't expecting some of the tie ins.

Just type [ spoiler ] , then after you finished writing whatever you want, type [ / spoiler ] with no spaces, though.

I liked that quest too. Especially the "good ending"

Some quests are a real struggle to know what to do. One my favorite quests is in Skellige that you do with Cerys. I don't want to spoil it, but she asks you to do something atrocious and you don't have much time for a decision to be made. I loved it.

I love how a lot of quests aren't good or bad. Usually there are consequences for "good" or "bad" endings. Such as that quest.

It's nice that Geralt feels remorse for killing, even if he has to.

Yes, Geralt is one complicated monster killing machine. But fortunately, Yenna always help me to make tough decision.

I think the emotional parts of TW3 is subtle but very emotionally powerful. When the Baron was holding the botchling and you get to decide to kill it or not, my tears started running. And I thought " what??? Where t f did that came from? This guy is bumhole!!" But the setting and the presentation was soo well done with the rain, the botchling started sucking on her feet, the very poignant music and the words to lift the curse, all blend in together to get that memorable scene cemented on my brain.

But then bioware can do the same thing also. I cried when Tali and Mordin died in ME. Sadly, I did not feel any of that in DA 2 or 3. Heck, even Legion's death touched me. Even when Hawk's mother died, for me, it was just gruesome and something I'd rather not see and better off to forget.

Be sure to play the "Possession" side-quest in Skellige. Probably my favorite quest in the game, but Tower fulll of mice is also really awesome.

My favorite is "little red". It does not have complex back story but Gearalt's choice really reveal a tragic werewolf story.

There are so many emotional moments in TW3 and I agree Bioware used to do that well but for me they failed in DAI I can't remember any scenes that affected me as much as those in TW3.

I am not sure how far you are into the game so I don't want to spoil it for you, but there is a scene with Geralt talking to a little boy and it really tugged the heart strings for me. So did so many other scenes, Uma, battle at Kaer Morhen, reuniting with Ciri, and so on...

So many hard decisions too, like the Crookback bog quest...

I have been moved to tears a few times during TW3 and not had that from Bioware since ME3 really although I did find the death of Hawke's mother emotional too but not as deeply.

Edit: OK don't read if you don't wish to have the game spoiled, but here are a few of the scenes which moved me ...

So other than hopping in to complain about unrelated crap, I've mostly been avoiding this thread since it's full of spoilers, and I was pretty certain that I would to play TW3. At the moment, I'm comfortably in the middle of TW2, and I have to say... I'm pretty goddamn impressed. To the extent that I can't actually believe that the first one was made by the same developer. It's very, very good. If TW3 is half as expansive as it seems from the conversation here, I'm pretty psyched to finally hit it.

Though I actually like Triss' old actor a lot better, though. Shoulda kept her around.

But yeah. Didn't know what I was missing, apparently.
