Im not ashamed to admit I'm playing W3 on story mode, as it's the most important thing for me. And I'm having a blast. I don't need to be super combat power. I suck bottom anyway because even with story mode I still die like.... a lot :-p Controls are still a bit wonky specially when i forget the danged keys.

I'm playing death march but my first playthrough was on normal and towards the end I just wanted to finish the main story before someone else spoiled for me.

Now I'm in a completionist playthrough and I'm finding it kinda easy to be honest. And I'm not one of those people that play everything on hard mode.

The difference I noticed is that I have to pay more attention to combat and on lvl 15 a bunch of lvl 9 drowners could kill me if I slack off, or even lvl 5 pack of dogs... It's not that hard just demands more attention.

I play on story mode too, mainly because even with a controller my fingers don't work quite fast enough, darned osteo-arthritis, but I manage fine with that and not died too often. I did try the next difficulty up and then I died a lot so dropped the level back to story...

You sound like you are doing better than i am even with disability. If they have a mode below story mode called "totally useless" It would certainly fit me better. I think I still like the controls of DA more, but W3 combat if you do it right is much better and more innovative. Years of wow and dragon age kinda programmed my play style with a hotbar :/

I think it helps using a controller, even before I was no longer able to play on a computer I had to switch to a controller because my fingers can't cope with keyboard and mouse. So I really recommend using a game pad or controller, makes the battles a little easier to handle, even so my days of playing most games on anything but story mode are long gone... LOL it's what comes of being an ancient gamer... LOL

I just want to say, the soundtrack in this game is absolutely stunning. It can make a moment ten times more powerful:

Spoiler

Oh and let's not forget, it can make exploration ten times more enjoyable. Shame we don't have nothing of the sort in DAI, exploring those huge worlds in silence was really sad.

there was a soundtrack outside of the three cutscenes?

Man that must be nice to listen to while running around the Hissing Wastes

In some scenes, sure. For one, I like the soundtrack when Corypheus is introduced in Haven, made me scared of him because it was so badass, shame he didn't live up to it though. But when exploring the worlds, I'd only get 20 - 30 seconds worth of soundtrack every half an hour. So it was mostly silence.

The music in DAI rarely played that when it came on it was kinda surprising. I felt so lonely wandering around with no atmospheric soundtrack :(

Yeah and add to that the silence from the lack of party banter. :( At least Geralt talks to himself all the time. lol

The soundtrack for the Witcher 3 is great. Too bad I had in muted the entire time in favour of Deep Purple.

I hope the next Dragon Age game will make combat more grounded. One thing that really annoyed me about it, as someone who usually plays as a warrior, was abilities that involve endlessly spinning around in circles or causing a volcanic eruption with a swing of a sword. Grounded more realistic combat would have made Inquisition a hell of a lot less annoying for me. If they had of just done what they had in origins and sped it up a bit, that would have been grand.

Origins was just as ridiculous in many aspects, especially regarding magic

They will never go back to anything related to Origins and  to me it seems that they are kinda bitter of that game because it set the bar too high and the new people working for BioWare have no idea how to accomplish that.

Also they want everyone to love (buy) DA, even the people that usually hate RPGs, to do that they dumb down everything that made DAO a great RPG.

I have no hope for this franchise and I expect a lot of hyped mediocre games from BioWare.

Speaking of soundtracks, not only is TW3's better (IMO) but you also get the full thing for free with every copy of the game, bonus!

I like the TW3 soundtrack better, but I admit that it's mostly due to all the percussive sounds, which I hear more easily.

I know that doesn't count much when discussing which is better, but there were long moments in DAI where it was just silence even though I knew music was playing(a friend told me). So, in my opinion, TW3 is better for me.

Are you using the Bestiary?  Going into contracts in detective mode serves a good reason beyond just CSI fun.

For example; you track down a monster for a contract, looks like its a noonwraith, better wait till day cause it won't be out at night. During most contracts you get a chance to apply the correct oils and see what signs work the best on your enemy. For example a wraith of any kind loses a lot of it's dodge ability when you trap it with Yrden and use a spectral oil. If you don't look that up after discovering your target is a wraith and don't try to trap it with Yrden you could be swinging and missing all day! Jenny-o-the-wood beat on me until I learned that lesson!

This is very true. Not really sure how some people can say it's just a hack and slash. It can be, just like DAI can be if you don't utilize tactics. Bestiary is a valuable item when strategizing. The great thing about TW3, if you run across an enemy, say for some Guarded Treasure, after seeing the monster, you can run away without penalty, check your bestiary, apply the oils you need and such, then go back and wreck.

I use alchemy constantly, I absolutely love it in TW3. Anyway, yeah-- check out your beasties and plan the attack. It makes things more easy and more fun. :D

Also those wraiths bosses take more damage when you trap them with Yrden

The normal ones you can just dodge and fast attack them :D

Man I've seen some videos of a guy just button mashing through the game and it was really annoying because the game gives you all these cool features to use in combat and watching someone not making use of them bothers me

On harder difficulties I doubt you can get pass just button mashing

I certainly won't get hyped again like I did with DAI. It made my disappointment in the game even more painful because I was expecting so much from it. But I'll definitely stick around and see if they will listen to feedback and improve things with DA4. I don't want another DAO, I just want a game that has a good personal story (and not something as random as a hole in the sky that spits demons) with ups and downs, tough choices and consequences, as well as interesting NPCs (including companions), engaging sidequests with cutscenes and worlds that feel alive and aren't there just for the sake of exploration. My hopes aren't very high though, they may improve one or two of those things since there's a good chance the next game will have a more personal story, but I'm not confident they will be able to deliver a game like TW3, which did all of those things right, at least in my opinion.

^ This basically sums up my feeling. Also because of the stuff they pulled with DAI I won't be pre-ordering ME4 (or the next DA game) which will be the first time I haven't pre-ordered a Bioware game. It seems that with DAI they reached a point where nickle & diming fans has become far more important to Bioware than story telling. :(

The problem I think is that they went with the multiplayer route, and that 90% of the time ruins RPGs. The next game for sure will have multiplayer which means the single player experience will be sub-par. Unless they abandon multiplayer (which they won't) and focus all their attention in story-telling and the single player experience, this franchise is doomed.

Thus far, have only pre-ordered Skyrim and a few Bioware titles; will likely continue with the latter.

Why, specifically, do you think MP dooms rpg's?
