I find it funny (in a sad sort of way) that so many people in this forum gets so offended when other fans say they think TW3 is better than DAI. I remember seeing a lot of people comparing DAI to other games and I never seen anyone getting upset by it, but when it's TW3 it's like we insulted their mothers or something. Relax people. Like everyone else, we're just giving our opinions and feedback, no need to get so defensive over your precious little game. Like Geralt would probably say, "sheesh."

I have stated this before. I don't know anyone who hasn't said, "This would be better if it was a bit more like >insert game, movie, song, food, etc<." I have done it to a lot of games, not just these two. I have seen it done dozens of times on this board with various other games, but mention the Witcher and it's like you drew a line in the sand.
I have seen some who stated they would never touch The Witcher series simply because of their fanbase.
I don't get this. You won't play a game because the fans of said game love it and like to discuss how awesome it is? Why would you set your standard of like/dislike based on what someone else would say about it, either favorably or unfavorably? It's the most bizarre notion to me.

There are to many threads floating around now though. This one started it and it has been a source of great feedback. Though i kind of get why people are abit upset. On the CDRP forums there are no one advocating for Dragon Age over there, or any RPG for that matter. It feels like the community here is shoving The Witcher at alot of people. Not saying this thread in particular, but its influence has spread and the debate is more wildfire now than earlier. I can understand both sides of it.
I really wish that Bioware was abit more active here and actually posted in threads like these, and closed the ones that are obviously just made for trolling.

Perhaps it is not what they said, but where it was posted. If it were on the CDPR forums, that is one thing, but here is another. But considering these are two different type of games, it would be fine if both garnish accolades; simply prefer DAI as the one I can play, and choose to play.

That forum is not as active as this one. Which is a good thing for Bioware; shows they have more active members or more followers. The culture in Witcher forums has always been different - except the moaning, complaining. Those are the cornerstone of any forum ![]()
This thread reminds me of the "Be like Skyrim" thread previously. There were great many who opposed and objected the idea. I think it is safe to say that learning from Skyrim does not mean that Bioware is going to make another Skyrim. The result: A large semi open world that is the best looking Bioware game ever.
IMO Bioware is good at making story and that is about it. They really... (for the convenience of relaying the message as clearly as possible) sux big time at making lively environments. The beautiful vista in DAI is nothing more than cardboard backdrops on stage. The cites.... lifeless and really? Are those cities? That is what Bioware needs to learn from TW3 - lively environments and cities! Not a cardboard stage that is Val Royeaux.
They can make great side quests as they have shown to do so in DAO. TW3 just reminded us what we are missing and we want that back.

If you prefer it that is totally okay.I like them both although i think both should have been delayed a bit more to fix the worse problems but i think they released them in that state for economical reasons. What are you talking about? Not even slightly related.
Ofcourse. Just that the Witcher has a lot more pros and a lot less cons.
The name is yes i give you that much, true...hehe.

That's a really great way to view things, Akrabra.
I don't think The Witcher is necessarily being shoved at people, though. Unlike situations irl where we can't avoid certain discussions that annoy us, it's easy to ignore those subjects on a forum. You can only discuss the Witcher if you choose to do so and if you do choose to do so, then complain about it--well, you're silly. ("You" as in general, certainly not as Akrabra
)
I can't say with certainty that this thread was made with the best intentions, the title really didn't convey a very neutral place to discuss the topic. However, because of forumites like TheOgre, Snakecode, panzerwzh, Amberdragon, Xetykins, Deathstruck and many more, whatever intention it had, it has become a place where a lot of great suggestions and discussions have taken place. I feel like "Why DAI is better than TW3" threads are made because of this one and made from people who either didn't read this thread and assume that it's just people insulting DAI, or people who know what this thread is about, yet feel defensive anyway. Neither is the fault of this thread.
Hopefully, people like you and others, who may not agree with everything here, but can be open minded and see that the majority really does want DAI to improve and aren't just bandwagoning hate. I also hope someone from Bioware is paying attention to that, as well. Though, I wonder if they read anything here anymore, sadly.
Edit: It also shocks me that so many people can read this thread and still say, "I don't want DAI to be like TW3! I want to customize my character! I want to have a party based game!" and etc. I haven't read one suggestion asking for those things to be changed, nor have I read any post where anyone has suggested DA should be a clone of TW. It's really like people just make up any excuse to be defensive.

Why DAI is a better"rpg" than the Witcher 3 (Don't be more like Witcher 3)
Right. You must excuse me if I am a bit sceptical of your own intentions.
I am just tired of all the TW3 vs DAI threads that keep popping up since the last month, posted by both TW fanboys (who then put is in bad, frustrating light) and TW haters (who, well.. do pretty much the same in their frustration).
There are ike 3 threads in both Scuttlebut sections, 2 in Offtopic and another 2 right here in Feedback.
Besides, I find it funny that you still created a thread to talk about DA:I's positive qualities (which is your full right), but instead you had bring up this thread and belittle TW3 in order to make a point, aka a pretty obvious counter-thread. At least that's how I see it.
Wouldn't it actually make more sense to bring your points here where they can be discussed with others, instead of sniping at this thread from another one..? Just saying.
At this point I think even DAI devs think TW3 is the better game

About the Carnal Sins quest...
Spoiler
I am also in my second playthrough and I am choosing differently than I did in my first round. I am pleasantly surprised that the differences are really noticeable. I haven't made it to the quest you're referring to, but ....
I am also finding quite a few missions that I didn't catch the first time. I thought I had been pretty thorough in my first playthrough, but obviously I missed some. It's astounding the content this game has. I can't believe there are people who actually complain that TW3 has too much content. I love it.
On a different note: Is anyone having issues with patch 1.07? I have noticed a bit of framerate issue, mostly when entering a conversation, but a little flutter sometimes when I am just running around. It isn't a huge deal, but one that I hope they fix.
If it's an issue, I feel comfortable saying CDPR will handle it ASAP. They seem to be on top of listening to fans and fixing things accordingly.

Well to be honest a lot of people that like DA also like TW, they are the same genre and TW3 was the latest big RPG released, so of course people here will compare
BioWare dropped the ball with DAI after so many promises and we are like "see Bioware, this is the kind of experience we wanted that you didn't provide"
Since the DA series is pretty much a frankstein, maybe now instead of trying to be Skyrim, they will try to be TW3. Maybe the quality will increase a little.

I've been to CDPR forums and it seems a lot of people are having problems with this patch
I noticed more stutter too
Today the devs left a note saying that they are taking note of the complaints
The inventory changes though are beautiful

That's good to hear. I was pretty confident that they'd check it out.
As for the bold, you speak the truth! I love the new book section with the gray out is wonderful, as is that crafting material has zero weight. Now, I collect anything I come across lol. I am like a hoarder and I regret nothing.

On topic: I used to think TW3 crafting is kind of generic, maybe because I just tend to use whatever drops. Last night I've really taken a look at it, I begin to like it.
It's not just, go mine and gather wood and there you go, your crafted level madame.
I'm still very sore that I sold my Witcher gear and has not enough gold to buy them back :-(
Oh well things to remember for the next play through. Unless... is there anyway to craft the original Witcher gear again that looks like the original one withouy buying it back?

If you have the diagram you can craft the same item any time you want as long you gather materials for it

I love the alchemy and crafting system. I like how instead of doing asinine rng drops for materials, TW3 simply level locks the good stuff, but allows you to collect any material to build it.
Also, if you need say, a Dark Steel Ingot, but don't have one, don't forget to check the things that can be dismantled or look in your crafting components, you may have the material to craft it yourself. As for money, the higher level you get and begin doing higher level contracts, you can negotiate better rewards, there is also a trophy that gives you a chance to loot more money. I want to say it's...
I'll look in a bit and tell you for sure. I found the islands around Skellige had some pretty good loot to sell, especially in some of the ship wrecks.
And there is nothing wrong with how you play. I had about ninety or more hours under my belt before going to Skellige and meeting Ciri.

When I look at the character tab in the game it says I have 8 days and 5 hours of game, does that mean I have 197 hours of gameplay? (24 x 8 + 5)
I always close GOG when I start the game so I can't look how many hours I have there

You play it perfectly. Go slow, there is so much quality content to experience in Witcher 3 besides the main quest.

100% in agreement. I usually do all the contracts I can in Velen and Novigrad. I try to do all secondary quests and treasure hunts and question marks before heading off to Skellige. That way I level up and gain some money and good equipment.

If you mean the witcher gear you start the game with then no you can't make it again and you can only upgrade it the one time. Many like it tho and have asked for a fully upgradable set with that look so maybe we'll get it later.
The best looking armors imo is the starting one and the Ursine set.
This is the base ursine one (found in Skellige):
