To Inquisition defense, you can use war table missions to gather herbs for you. And there are an couple of perks were you recieve some herbs for free as well. That being said, the war table missions only offer normal herbs, while you still need to grind for the rare ones and taking perks for herbs is an complete waste. It wouldn't be so annoying if it wasn't for the fact that you need to collect hundreds and hundreds of herbs to upgrade potions. And there is were Witcher 3 does it better.

Just want to point out again that in my original post, when I was speaking about grinding and how TW3 does things better on the crafting front-- I did not mean alchemy. I meant crafting. It was pretty clear in the post. /shrug

However, since the misunderstanding spurred a response: TW3 is a slight bit better,IMO. The war table missions give you such a small amount of herbs that it isn't even worth it. As for the perk, tbh I would rather spend the points elsewhere, since they oddly limit you on how many you can spend. The "picking" animation also annoys me.

Maybe I dislike it so much because I hate the tier setup. I think the whole crafting system is asinine and have said so since day one, way before TW3 came out. Before DAI came out, they focused a lot about crafting and alchemy and yet it feels so restricting. Of course, YMMV and if you enjoy the crafting and alchemy in DAI, then I am glad for you. I think it's great you found enjoyment in it. I did not.

I remember reading that someone thought Witcher 3 didn't have good facial animations. He must've been on drugs as I just did the Last Wish quest and kept the romance with Yennefer. I don't think I ever saw someone show so much happiness and relief than when Geralt said "I love you" to her. Damn powerful !

I think that and other laughable claims are from people who really haven't played the game at all. Just picked up whatevers floating around and use them as supposed ammunition.

No you won't. The game just gives you a new one, for free, right when you arrive at Skyhold. Zero setback. The only difference is th voice actor for the character and how the character looks.

The game gives you a new one even if you save them all. lol.

(only thing I don't remember is if there's a looting animation in DA:I... there isn't in TW3)

And praise friggin' hosanna for that. There are certain things we don't need ever, and one of them is lengthy looting animations.

I have a random question that I think I probably raised like a hundred pages back or so. Then it was under the guise of "Can I run it?" but now I'm clarifying it to "should I wait?"

The weak link in my otherwise monstrous build is my GTX 770. For better or worse, I'm sort of building up TW3 as the true new gen experience that DAI, for all its virtues, was not. Basically, I'm hoping that playing this game will evoke like... Morrowind and GTA 3 circa 2001. Mindblowing scale, etc. I want it to blow me away.

I've been planning on upgrading this fall to a 970, and unfortunately, finances preclude me from prioritizing that sooner. Frankly, I'm going to get the game eventually, and I don't mind waiting for a while longer. How does it look on a 770? Is there enough of a difference in the visuals and the performance that it would have the same impact if I upgraded during the game? Is the difference great enough that it would be worth it to just wait?

When I first played DAI I thought that upgrading the garden would be meaningful instead of just 3 more plant pots, at the very least make the herbal expert a merchant that sells every herb in the game. Barring all of that make a requisition for herbs that uses power but gives you hundreds of the rare ones.

The entire game ran perfectly fine on a 750ti for me, game also doesn't push the CPU at all though I don't know if that would be true on an AMD.

And her reaction when you say the opposite and end things with her. I haven't tried it myself but I saw a video on Youtube and it was heartbreaking. TW3 has great animations in general, it's super fluid and natural. I wish I knew how to gif video games because I would love to make a few gifs and put them side by side for people too see the huge differences between TW3 and DAI's animations. DAI is so stiff it's actually painful to watch after having played TW3.

My CPU can probably eat the next couple of gens for breakfast. I'm not too concerned about performance on that avenue (and I'm also not interested in running that FPS eating nvidia hair thing I've been hearing about).

More along the lines of how high can I crank it, and would the difference there be worth waiting for the new card?

Most of the games I play regularly, with the exception of DAI, are quite a bit older. I was hoping that DAI would be a revelation in this regard, but it kinda wasn't (I still really love it).

Holy *****. I can get behind that idea. I had over 300 power sitting around for nothing. Swaping it for resources could be an great addition to the game.

Lol...everyone knows that..like EVERYONE.

@Rawgrim and @Saphiron and @Corto, give it a rest lol. You can never have a decent debate with a fanboy, whatever logic you try to use. Let's get back on the topic and ignore the unneeded posts.

OT, the new storage chests are really all welcome but should have been introduced in the beginning itself. Also, patch 1.07 has lowered my framerate by about 5-6 frames. Anyone else?

For me, generally FPS has improved a little but that is mostly due to me tweaking the hairworks ini file. The stuttering is very random and I notice them even when I have 70+fps. However, saving the game and reloading it gets rid of the stuttering. Which leads me to believe that this is an issue related to how the stream rendering - or maybe the new "improve mechanical HDD" stream code is causing this.

Hope they can fix this next patch.

Inquisitor has a bloody animation for every herb, ore deposit etc. Geralt just picks it in his stride absolutely no time lost. Also you can buy the herbs if you want, alchemists in witcher sell them.

Since quite a few downloaded animation mods for Skyrim to do this exact thing, perhaps other Players prefer immersion over mechanics. And purchasing herbs in DAI is quite viable; know of other Players that do so rather than harvest.

To be fair Skyrim is a world built for exploration and immersion, also it is from a first person view which makes you the character and not you playing a character. And again this is a mod, something you are free to download if so is your choosing.

The herb animation in Dragon Age breaks the flow of you going from point A to B it also makes mounting secondary. This could have been solved by a few things. Lower the requirements for upgrading or making potions, War Table missions would grant more and varied herbs and they were instant or you could trade power as someone suggested in a post above.

War Table, Perks, purchasing via shops, and harvesting are all options for alchemy and crafting supplies in DAI. And no grinding is required; up to the indv Player whether to spend time farming for some desired component, but it is certainly not needed.

It would have been so much more appropriate in DAI if they'd used DA2's alchemy system. Makes a ton more sense to source your ingredients and then just pay to get them using Inquisition resources than to individually pick each flower.

But it's not there in the main game though. If you want it, you have the freedom to add it. Of course, we don't have a toolkit in this case (still the game's greatest flaw), so we can't.

The looting animation in DAI is way too long, and a giant pain in the ass after only a few hours of play. Maybe you don't need to harvest every ingredient, but you still need to loot things. They should have left the looting animation out.

Did DAO and DA2 even have a looting animation? I feel like you could just pause, tab, and loot from like several feet away.

You probably won't be pushing capable settings but you should still achieve a nice framerate and the game is still very detailed on a 750ti, only problem i've noticed is some LOD pop-in on cutscene characters but it's pretty rare and doesn't hurt the scene. I will say I also ran this game on a TV with overscan issues so I was running it at a weird sub-1080 resolution (~1700x1000) so your mileage may vary if you're running it on a 1440p or 2160p computer monitor.

Playing on 1080p (I have a better monitor, but usually play on my TV).

Is the sailing reminiscent of Wind Waker? Does it make me shallow that upon finding out about the sailing, I got measurably more excited?

I could live with optional, but seem to recall that some reviewers noted the animations, and liked the immersive effect.

As for harvesting, maybe a mod could be used to speed the process, but do not believe a reset for upgrades is required; generally have plenty of components for alchemy and crafting.

Just ran into my first glitch - during a key conversation with Kiera about what she should do, a patch of Geralts hair was imposed over the middle of her face. This lasted until the scene was over and moved along with her face. I didn't feel like loading a save to enjoy the scene as I didn't want to watch the sex scene again since it's a little embarassing with other people in the house.

Other than that haven't had any real issues, but that did take me out of the scene.

Somewhat yeah mostly when you reach Skellige, the wind is always at your back no matter what so no need to change wind direction, boats are found in random locations as well, no crane to pick up loot though.

Speaking for myself, I travel by boat whenever I can. In Skellige, I use it to get around more than I use Roach and I love that damn horse. I love water mechanics and TW3 certainly satisfies that with whale watching, ship wrecks and actual combat on the boat in the middle of the sea. It's great!

I actually have a mod in DAI that takes out that looting animation and oh man, does the game turn out much more bareable after that. The looting animation made the game like 50% unplayable for me.

We had a thread about the animation and the majority wanted to keep it. Personally I would like a toggle.

Toggles are excellent. Everything should be about choice and developers ought to recognize that.
