Never really understood why people hate the gameplay of Witcher 2 and 3. I really love them, especially Witcher 3 with the dodge move. It really added a lot of flow and fluidity in the combat. Plus the finishers are indeed very satisfying. Oh and I also play with KB&M

Though I certainly don't want Dragon Age to make a similar type of gameplay. I would be tremendously upset if they removed the more tactic based style combat.

Would you kindly change avatar? Every time i see your avatar in one of your posts i die a little inside knowing we'l never get a proper Metroid game again.

I am a fan of both game's combat style. I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I just enjoy TW3's better, but for pure self-preference reasons only. I love the alchemy. I love working with the oils and potions, etc and combining the signs with the swordplay. If I am honest with myself, a portion of the reason are the finishing moves. I am a sucker for them. If DAI had finishing moves, I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, especially when considering how much I love the archery in DAI.

Combat is certainly one of those things where YMMV from person to person.

Nah, bb. I stay faithful to the woman of Lilac and Gooseberrries.

SPOILERRRREREEEERRRRREEER (on mobile)

The only time I crumbled was at the party in Novigrad. Triss was so lovely, I had to kiss her. (No I didn't, I struggled so hard the game chose for me.)

lol Ryzaki, as always, you kill me. You're just adorable.

I can't speak for them, but I think when they use Disney as a descriptive, they are doing so in the spirit of, "It's grimdark, but in a PG13 kind of way." In other words, they feel DAI is daytime network TV drama, while TW3 is nighttime cable TV drama. :D

Also, I don't know what you mean. TW3 is worth all dat hype, gurrl. :P

I hope that's not meant to be as patronizing as it's coming across as.

There's mentions of rape and there's even blatant mentions of such (like the templar attempting to rape someone on fire for pete's sake) it's just not shoved in the player's face via cutscenes. The red templars are freaking being devoured by red lyrium, read how the freaking ocularum are made. There being some light in the story doesn't take away the dark that's there. It just means it's not covered in freaking grim darkness and honesty I for one am tired of grimdark games. You guys can have them. ALL OF THEM. *shoves all the grim dark games at them happily* I don't want them in mine! I'll take my daytime and you take your nighttime and I don't know why we can't both be happy?

Seriously I don't want the Witcher grimdark in Dragon Age. I really don't want another DA2 where everything feels ****** pointless because no matter what I do my character's screwed. I ****** despised that ****. The only thing that kept me playing DA2 was Fenris.

The ONLY thing I would want BW to take from the Witcher is goddamn side quest design. That's it. Not darkness. Side quest design. And maybe hair.

It was very good but it didn't grab me. And once I lost interest in the characters (which didn't take long because I wasn't very interested in Geralt and being stuck with mainly him wore on my patience to begin with) nothing else grabbed me and the combat failed to keep me and I went right back to Skyrim. *shrug*

(and before anyone says it I know everything didn't feel hopeless in Witcher 3. But the parts DA did grimdark relied pretty heavy on death!!!! trope).

I love it. It's the best combat system I've played yet. Relies a lot in timing.

They really refined what they had in W2 without changing the basics.

And I don't find it clunky at all? Never had a problem with it, it just feels very fluid to me.

I use all the tools the game gives me so maybe that's why? I've seen once a video of someone just buttom mashing and being smacked around.

I found it immensely clunky.

But I was specializing in using quick attacks and what was the mind control sign? That for cc. Trying to use that while blocking, cc one, try to hit him with the other swarming you? Ugh. Screw that.

But that's taste for you. XD I for one love swtor combat. *cries forever over her nerfed sniper*

Patronizing? Of course it isn't meant to be patronizing. I mentioned to you before that even if I don't agree with you, you make me laugh because you just have no filter and just say whatever you're thinking. I really do think you're adorable in that. If I offended you, I am sorry. It certainly wasn't meant to be offending in any way.

As for the rest, I don't always like grimdark, but if you're going to go for a dark theme, I want a dark theme. I don't want to feel like I am watching an after school special. As before, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I don't have to have every instance of brutality, racism, sexism, abuse, etc. shown. In fact, there is a lot I don't want to see, but if you're going to fill your game with that in mind, show something. Don't make everything a play to be read. I felt like DAI tried to sell me on how terrible things were, but meh. I really didn't care. I mean, we're in the middle of a war between two powerful factions....we should be seeing some pretty rancid **** at some point. It seems like every instance, the Inquisitor just missed it. "Oh, they were just killing tranquils! You just missed it!" , "The templars were just abusing some mages! You just missed it!", "Some templars are transformed into red lyrium monsters! You just missed it!", "Leliana was tortured for months and months! She only looks old though. She is still wearing her perfectly clean armor and has no bruises or blood. You didn't miss it, you just never see it!" I am not asking to see every abhorrent act or action, but it would be nice to see some. Would have been nice to see refugees look displaced, downtrodden and miserable. Instead, they're clean and laughing and standing about chit chatting the day away.

I think TW3 has a nice mix of both grim and light. DAI has a nice mix of light and sort of dusky. To each their own, though.

Yes, never kiss an old hag with dyed red hair. Yenna is Geralt's soulmate.

:o God, you're just so mean! Though Yennifer is the one with a hunchback.....

Ah sorry I've been under the weather lately and been testy. (constant pain is not good for the temperament). So my apologies. *huggles* I'm just grouchy. Forgive me? *puppy eyes*

I guess that's fair enough. I didn't mind it being background. For me I don't need that stuff shoved in my face every few steps it gets...boring actually. Especially with a protagonist I don't have an attachment too. It's like I'm playing a game marked Not For You™ (which it isn't so XD) If it's at least with my protag I can grit my teeth and bear it but without that sliver of a bond. God no. Also as for Leliana. We're gonna ignore the personality change and just focus on the armor to make that argument Kbomb come on don't do that. She clearly had been influenced by that torture.

As for the refugees...aren't there several that are downright screaming about how they're doomed until you close the rift? Do they not count? They're not all cheerful I sure in hell remember that.

Sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you get better soon.

It's a fair point that Leliana's personality did change. It just would have been nice to have some imagery to go with it. I won't lie, when I saw her face all wrinkled I laughed and had a wtf moment. But imagery, that is what I am talking about. To me, it just feels empty and most of the horrors of war seem a bit dry in that regard.

As for the refugees, I can only go by what I read in subtitles and I have never seen one crying or screaming or saying anything that can be interpreted as trauma. If there was anything more, I must have missed it. I did read a lot of "laughing" and idle chit chat. There were rifts right next to where people were and you'd think there would be terror until you closed it, but it was business as usual. The elven widow was like, "oh, hai" when she had demons at her front door just seconds ago. The people in Emprise du Lion had demons and red templars and rifts, all within visual distance and they were just chillin' and discussing what there was to eat.

In TW3, if a wild dog or wolf comes close to a field where farmer are working, they'll notice and scream and run away. Same if it's a monster. If a village or camp is over run with monsters, the people get the hell out of dodge until you clear it, then and only then will they return. That's what I want to see.

See I rather have dialogue let my brain fill in the blanks broodmother was the best for me. That pink monster didn't scare me. Hespith's words did. Thinking of my female warden enduring that did. Now it can play a role (Because it did) but it's never the most important part for me.

The first zone has people panicking over the rift. Also the du Lion...from what I can recall...weren't most of those people kidnapped? It wasn't very busy there. Not til you save them. And by that point obviously it's chill.

First off. Moments of levity in troubled times doesn't dismiss said troubled times. Second off BioWare games have always had severe locational issues with people thinking they're in the middle of peaceful zones when there's corpses around. It's the AI being dumb and BioWare not programming for it. You can get the bolded in Skyrim with AI mod  (and god knows Skyrim has crap writing I love Skyrim but good lord some of those questlines *stares at Thieves Guild questline forever*) indeed I have that in m y modded Skyrim game I also have it so the damn civilians aren't stupid enough to try to fight with my dragonborn lvl 45 dragonborn if he steals their stuff. They like a sane human being run away and call the guards. It's not story, it's just AI not being dumb as hell.

A very good summary of DA series' combat system. For me TW3 has far superior combat system especially the emphasis on pacing and utilizing witcher signs and chemical products from Geralt's brewery.

Oh, I agree about the brood mother. Hespith's words were chilling.

The first zone? I assume you're talking about the Hinterlands before the Inquisitor closed the main rift with the mages/templars? I really didn't see much panic, tbh. Also, I am talking about the rifts outside of the villages that are optional to close. Besides the one in the lake in Crestwood and the one in front of the gates at Redcliff, I don't think anyone even mentions rifts being present. Emprise du Lion had some people in the village in spite of some being held prisoner and they weren't concerned at all that demons and red templars were around them. Even after you save the prisoners, only one or two return, and that is because of a quest involving them. The rifts have absolutely no consequence or purpose. It's like, "Well, **** it. If they don't care, I don't either. I'll just go kiss Cullen."

I know it seems as if I don't like DAI and that isn't true. I do like it. I just feel it falls short on a lot of things. I felt this way even before TW3 came out and I am sure if I did deep enough in the threads, I could find posts where I complain about the very things I am complaining about here. It's just, when I saw TW3, it was an epiphany. Everything I had complained about in DAI came to fruition in TW3. I am not asking for DA to become a clone of TW3. I just want Bioware to take some ideas about what works in TW3 and get inspired and make the next DA game better. They don't even have to clone the ideas, just take note. That is what the majority here want. Better quest design, more consequence to those quests, more zoetic villagers and villages, populated and bustling cities where the citizens are reactive, a better loot system, and water mechanics. Okay, the last one is my want. I freaking love the water in TW3.

I want Bioware to succeed. I want to have as many great rpg's as possible. I just feel they need to step up their game and maybe stop spanking their fans (the whole old gengate has really soured me, just saying).

Dragon Age does not need to be as grim dark as TW3. The Inquisition setting would have been good enough for me had the the story been well done and presented well. I mean look at DAO, generic story, and aweful graphics to boot, but the presentation and build up is really well done and the reason why I'm still playing it from time to time to this day.

And... bloody hell those side quests in DAI did not need to happen. Majority of the quests are meaningless. I don't even mind if they don't mean anything, but they're not even remotely interesting. TW3 does that very very well imo.

As long as the story games wanted to tell is presented well in the game is good enough in my book.

I don't even need a beautiful world. I just want to be immersed when playing a game, and collecting ram meats and wootnot did not do that for me. Same as why I can't play skyrim cuz its a little shallow on the story side.

lol, sadly my Geralt's heart has been taken by Yen, but I have to say, having to chose between her and Triss was easily one of the most difficult decisions I had to do in any game. I'm a sucker for romances in stories and both offered amazing things for Geralt. I very much hope Triss will appear again in the game as she doesn't seem to appear for the battle of Kaer Mohren since she didn't stay.

I love the awkwardness when they don't kiss lol

My Geralt really wanted to kiss her but in the end didn't. After that I felt like a massive piece of crud.

Yes, never kiss an old hag with dyed red hair. Yenna is Geralt's soulmate.

Yen is even older than triss and she is a full on hag.
