There's no really a save import, just a simulation. If you chose to simulate a save, around 15 min into the mainquest you meet a General that asks you some questions about some of the important things that happened in TW2.

I have no idea how to get the Roche tattoo. I didn't get one when I played TW2 and simply saying that you went his path doesn't auto add the tattoo.

Right - that's one example of a little detail that would I read would get carried through a save import and not a save sim, so I figured I'd ask if there were any more.

Spoiler

Anywho, thanks for the input guys.

Your version of geralt sure, not the one i play.

You mean the books version?

If you think about Geralt from the novels + game, then you know he would always go for Yennefer

Just Geralt from games, then you can add you headcanon

Do you have TW2 installed?

I have TW2 installed and the save files. Maybe TW3 fails to detect your save files.

Yes I have on steam

Nope hated Yen in the books too, games allow me to get away from her. Infact she is one of the reasons i havnt bothered finishing the books as i started skipping through her parts and realised no point in reading further. Maybe in future ill try to read em again.

To my knowledge, those characters in the spoiler section is not in TW3. I was actually quite disappointed as I was looking forward to meet them. That is why subsequently, I just use the save simulator because it is actually a pretty well done conversation and plays out like a part of the game.

Ok, but Geralt doesn't hate her. He would chose her

Iit's Geralt's story you're playing, not your own

But whatever floats you boat, I guess

Yen comes out really cold and bossy to Geralt.

So, an accurate portrayal then? :P

Neato, thanks.

I have one more off-topicy question before I pull the trigger. Anyone get a hard copy of the game for PC? Does it in fact come with a code to add it to your GOG library? I was going to just get it via GOG, but I have enough Amazon points stored to get it for free, which will heavily influence my priorities.

I have to ask this .
For those who ditched Yenn for Triss, did the boat scene with Yenn not touch you at all? I spoiled myself on the romances, and that scene was so sad.

I have a hard copy of the game. If I remember correctly, it automatically installed the GOG Galaxy client and had a code to register it. You can then "buy" the post-launch DLC program on GOG free of charge.

EDIT: Yep, it got a code. Printed on the back of the game manual.

The boat scene? No. I didnt read the books and after TW2, I didnt think I would be able to ditch Triss for Yen. Hence I pick all the mean conversation options when confronting her. She bites back and I kept pushing... she grew on me and I really enjoy picking fights with her :P

Now I have problem choosing Triss

edit:

The feeling is like... you can only speak to someone who is very close to you the way you speak to Yen. You also know what no matter what you say or do to her or how angry she gets, at the end, she will be by your side. Someone you can always trust - although their actions may not always make you feel nice.

Again we playing a ROLE PLAYING GAME and not a linear adventure games. Therefore you see your version of Geralt and Yen but not everyone. Choices; they are beautiful.

The dynamic between Geralt and Yen is great. It's what long term relationships are like.

They tease each other, know which buttons to push and in the end love is always there.

Good for you but im sorry its a doomed relationship there is a good reason it was so on/off. Hell its more like a master slave relationship, where Yen can keep secrets Geralt cant cause she keeps Mind rapping him. If you find stuff like that acceptable good for you,

The main reason i hate Yen in the game is geralts character changes completely when he is around her. We get very few chances to even talk back to her. They best comparison to how it annoys me is exactly like Shepard suffering for cutscene stupidity in ME3 when ever leng was involved. It is pretty much the same situation for me. That is why i hope if they do a EE they do have a look at both Yen and Triss and allow Geralt to express himself more.

I hope the expansions do not involve Triss, Yen or ciri and instead developers can write a proper story not constricted by book characters. I rather get more stories which match the quality set by the baron and the crones questline and best part was these were original CDPR stories not from the books. So i would gladly take more of that as i found the story parts to nosedive when Yen Ciri and other major book characters were involved. SO i hope for more of their original characters.

I prefer their more human personal tales and in this regard the entire Ciri questline with white frost and what not really disappointed me. So i keep hoping the expansions will lean more towards W2 side rather than 3 in respect of the narrative IE more grounded tale.

Fact is women are like that. In the beginning they are usually as sweet as Triss but later, they will always end up like Yen.

I can state this i play both Bioware and CDPR games for completely different reasons. Bio games usually for save the world, party based and the romance crap that comes with them, CDPR games for personal grounded tales and i really hope they both do not mix. Thank god that Geralt has a option refuse both the sorceresses in this game.

Hey guys,

Popping in with a question on save imports. I just finished my first run through TW2 (sided with Iorveth, but in retrospect, am a little unhappy with some of my decisions).

I read that while the PC has save imports, there's no benefit to doing so, because you have the option to dictate the outcomes of all the choices that mattered during the prologue. However, I'm also seeing that there are various little things that seem to carry over (like a tattoo you get during Roche's path, which I haven't started yet).

Spoiler

Since this playthrough hovered around 50 hours (I honestly don't know how I managed that), I'm a little burnt out on TW2, so I'm either going to take my sweet time with Roche's path and then get TW3... or, I'm going to read a summary, get TW3 this week, and do up my choices in game if the direction appeals to me, and then play Roche's path eventually, I guess.

So would you guys say it's worthwhile to actually use a save import?

Save import vs. sim is a question I asked a while ago and here was my answer. These things for sure show up only in a save import and not a simulated save state.

  • Blue Stripes tattoo
  • Asking Phillipa about Saskia if you import a Iorveth path
  • Drinking the mysterious potion in Flotsam makes a book show up about the experiment
I've also seen a unconfirmed, but often repeated, post a few times in threads with a Roche path import.

  • Roche acknowledges killing someone very important, if he did, when Letho shows up in Kear Morhan (No idea if this one is real, never seen a screen shot of it)

I agree with this. I haven't read the books yet so I don't exactly know how their relationship was before the game, but I find Yen a much more interesting and complex character than Triss and her chemistry with Geralt is fantastic (that whole pun exchange about wolves is great haha). And I don't know what some people mean when they say you can't talk back to her, as I recall you can most of the times and she even gets annoyed with Geralt because of it. I actually love their bickering too.

As I see it, Triss only happened because Geralt lost his memory (and Triss totally took advantage of that), so it was more of a one time thing. I think it makes more sense to the story for Geralt to stay with Yen. And I think the game wants you to go down this path too. I mean, just compare the amount of content Yen's romance has as opposed to Triss.

Yen's personality is tough. I can see why some people may not like it. But then again it seems that every time there's a more bossy female character, people tend to hate her and can't see past that. But anyway, I'm really interested in reading the books to know more about her.

Come on guys, there isn't a reason to argue over whom Geralt would choose. It doesn't matter who he would choose in the books, we're not playing the books. We are playing a role playing game and they gave us an option to choose, which is a wonderful thing.

I don't think they are favoring Triss by making her sweet and helpful. I think they are showing a contrast in personality, but the choice is there either way.

Personally, Yenn's personality isn't for me. IRL, I hate drama in a relationship and would not put up with some of the things she does, however; I realize while romancing her that she also has a softer side and it's shown in the little things she does-- like touching Geralt's back when they return to the party in Skellige, or the way she loves and protects Ciri.

Anyway, as I said, there isn't a reason to fight. It's okay to favor one over the other because it's basically your "game". Choose who you want regardless of what the books say or what someone else says. It's the joy of choice. Both women are beautiful, smart, strong and confident. At the end of the day, how could either choice be wrong?

Also,
