I've done like, three quests, and I'm level 2. After about 5 hours of play. I'm going to die playing this game.

I'm sorry to say that gwent is going to get annoying, probably. I'm not a fan of CCGs in real life, and it's sort of perplexing that something like this would be more ubiquitous than something like dice poker in this world.

Yes...yes you will :P

I really think you should force yourself a bit to play gwent until you master the rules. It can really become a fun mini game and easily funnier than dice or fist fights from Witcher 1 and 2, imo. Though if after that you still don't really care for gwent, don't force yourself on it. There is only one quest where gwent can be important otherwise it's fully optional.

Glad you're having a good time otherwise !

My favorite is the wolven armor as well. Actually I dont think any armor is ugly - even if its design is subjectively ugly. Simply because the texture and the details on the armors are just awesome.

I'm a bit weird but I only really love the basic Wolven armor. It reminds me of the starting armor you have in Witcher 2 with the snub sleeves. The following versions add too much in my opinion and I find the spikes rather ugly =p.

That there are some *edited* people hardly qualifies as an excuse to have next to no interaction with your player base.

I join the Bioware forums during the NWN days. In the past, the forums were less "hostile" but back then Bioware products were also very well received. More importantly back then Bioware has full control over its creative direction. Something that CDPR is enjoying now.

For instance, CDPR can decide to do a NG+ without getting approval or green light from some suit monkey overlord who is only interested in the next quarter's financial report.

Today however... why should Bioware come on to these forums? Even if some of the developers wanted to do something for the players, they cant. They cant promise us that they will do this or that because they are no longer in control.

When a product hits the shelves, the only thing the suit monkey overlord is interested in is to milk players into dried cows. MP + Micro transaction is all they can do and will do. Why spend money and resource to improve and enhance the said product? Since this is a reality, why not stay away and let people vent their frustration on these forums? It is not like anything can change if they come here.

CDPR is what Bioware was.... that is just a cruel fact. Make great products, your player base will love you, you will be more motivated to do more. Make bad/rushed product... well...

Lazy and badly done product results in unsatisfied and frustrated customers. If they wont change / cant change, the mob gets angrier. Who would have thought?

COD is selling much better and I am sure it is that much better than DAI.

Transformers is also a mega hit but only a special certain group of people will claim that it is a good movie and the most special of this special group of people think that Michael Bay is a great director and defend him like a God.

What is worst than Transformer and Michael Bay are those super special specimen that will defend them.

What I find strange is the fact that you need to say may. If indeed DA:I was the most sold Bioware game to date, why on earth hasn't Bioware/EA released the sales numbers. Normally, if sales are really good, a company shows numbers to prove it. I just find this very odd that they would not reveal anything.

Actually DAI could very well be the best selling Bioware game. The number of gamers is only increasing and it is launch in all 5 platforms, meaning more people will buy games today as opposed to 5 years ago.

Maybe it is illegal for them to release sales figure. CDPR broke the law in Poland by revealing their 1st 14day sales - something to do with hiking stock prices. Regardless, it is not abnormal for a company to withhold sales figures.

Again, sales number only measure financial success. It has no direct relationship with the quality of the product.

Maybe it is exactly because more people buy DAI that more are here in the forums complaining.

Don't forget the extreemly huge hyping of the game before release. Showing nice game mechanics that were never reaching the game proper like seiges and towns burning if you refuse to help them etc. Ofc people will buy the game they thought they were going to get. It wont have been so bad if they went and tell people " oh by the way... the so and so is not going to happen because...". Probably like CDPR not telling about gfx downgrade, but I don't think that affects much of the experience you get with their game because the essentials are still there.

Indeed CDPR went ahead and posted that they sold over 4 million copies in just 2 weeks on their website 2 weeks ago or something and over 200 awards?

While I have seen one business article saying so, this is not confirmed by others. And I do try to avoid making an assumption, as do many others here....

That would be Player hype, as those vids were not made by Bioware; not for public demonstrations.

Not to mention they showed that gameplay in more than one event to dozens, if not hundreds of fans since you can hear them cheering in the videos.

They actually were made by Bioware, for public demonstrations - just for a limited audience (and not to be disseminated further - yeah, good luck there), and with a disclaimer that the content was not final.

Obviously, people should never assume something won't get cut from the final product, but it's not like the videos were closely guarded rough drafts. They were still promo material.

I just really hate DAI now. It turned series from dark fantasy(like in DAO) to politically correct cliched "retarted-wizard-in-the-forest" game. Witcher is everything i hoped DAI would be.

Yeah, the hype was ridiculous and nothing prepared me for the mass disappointment that game ended up to be because I was expecting story to be its main focus, you know, like the previous games. No one told me that those 200+ hours of gameplay they said the game could offer was 80% exploration. No one told me that instead of fleshed out sidequests we would be picking up a hundred notes from the ground and killing the same generic mobs over and over again. When they said the tactical camera was like Origins, I believed them, when they said this game was made for PC, I believed them. When they showed quests that involved tough choices, I got excited. And like me, a LOT of people took the hype train and bought the game. But also like me, a lot of people now want nothing more to do with DAI and will be more skeptical when a future Bioware game is released. To me, sales numbers mean nothing, when you only have to go read forums, youtube or article comments to see the amount of disappointed people and how many fans that actually liked DAI, changed their opinions about it after having experienced TW3.

Indeed CDPR went ahead and posted that they sold over 4 million copies in just 2 weeks on their website 2 weeks ago or something and over 200 awards?

I wonder how many awards DAI would've won if it had been released this year instead. I truly wonder...

But let's get back to the topic at hand. Wouldn't want this thread to be closed.

Yes, it was promo material for a select audience with the disclaimer that it is subject to change. Bioware/EA is not the first company nor will it be the last to show promo stuff that may not make it to the game. As you have often stated that is part of the creative process that items get cut.

If the player bases their expectations on early promo material they are most likely setting themselves up for disappointment.

If Bioware were savvy, they'd have polished up some of those cut features post release and billed them as part of "Free DLC Program."

No one would be the wiser.

Gamers would then accuse EA/Bioware of leaving the stuff out of the base game when it could have been included and now are releasing it to copy CDPR.

Every dev should do this. Showing glorified vertical slices at trade shows, then cutting it down for final release is a terrible industry practice and TW3 marks a first for CDPR doing this. I understand devs have to cut some things out of necessity but there's definitely a line not to be crossed here.
