Moreso the trusting the outsider that has a magical solution to their doomsday scenario. A plan so freaking crazy it may actually work! v.v

It's ridiculous. Basically what they did is make the grey wardens stupid idiots so that the Inquisition could save the day.

A demon army, sacrificing their own to this crazy plan, working with a tevinter magister without any questions. It's just ridiculous overall.

Have to say though that to me that was pretty much the best part of the game. Even though what as written before about the grey wardens was being completely torn apart.

Which was?

That they'll go to extraordinary lengths and make incredible sacrifices to save Thedas from the blight.

Wait a minute...

In any event, line_genrou is conveniently ignoring the mega strong Calling issuing (unbeknownst to them) from Corypheus and afflicting every single living grey warden, which understandably worries and confuses the hell out of them. I'm sure that wasn't on purpose, and they just forgot.

Frankly, I thought that whole idea was cool as hell, but YMMV.

The Inq forces are elsewhere at this juncture, and the vast majority of Cory's forces being gone left this surprise attack as a final chance at success.

The inquisiton forces were ALWAYS elsewhere, given how rarely they ever appeared on screen or at crucial moments. It's the world's crappiest most absent army.

Really, I found the whole situation kinda understandable from a highly desperate and worried view

The wardens in DAI were shoddily written. I know Gaider isn't a fan of the wardens, but man, he torpedo'd them so badly. It's like they wanted to make the order look like dirt so they wouldn't have to include them in future games.

And now the inquistior is going into the deep roads... hope him and his friends have a defense against the taint, because if they are just fine without even acknowledging the fact darkspawn blood is poisonous, i'm going to be seriously upset at the dragon age team for crapping on the lore once again.

I guess they just have to try not to ingest it. Thankfully, the persistent gore toggle will prevent it from getting all over their faces.

In any event, they've all been crapping on the lore beginning in DAO in that case. Nobody ever actually gets blighted unless the plot demands it. All your non-warden companions are able to fight alongside you in the deep roads with no problems whatsoever.

And they do have non-warden armies fighting darkspawn during blights on the surface as well. Like they were about to do at Ostagar.

Where was it stated that Gaider doesn't like the Wardens?

You like how the Wardens were already shown as shady back in DAO?

And like Tommy said people only get the taint when the plot demands it

Yeah, Cailan says they've already fought some battles and there are a total of three soldiers suffering from the blight in the camp.

That whole "blighted" thing just serves as a plot device if the writers need it, otherwise it doesn't exist.

God I hate the lack of blood splatter in DAI. Yet another thing they cut, there was nothing quite so "dragon age" as cheerfully discussing a companion's life while splatted in the blood of your enemies.

That's true, but remember the hospital at ostagar? Even if everyone hadn't been slaughtered, a lot of people would have died from the taint after the battle. Origins was actually supposed to include a subplot where everyone becomes a warden, but they scrapped it.

Still, to just drop the taint as porblem, especially in a modern game where they could really explore it? That would be too bad, and sadly, totally what I expect from the DAI team. I hope weekes pays more attention to the lore then gaider did.

So they should expand on it, not drop it entirely. I for one would like to see the dai crew give even the tiniest crap about past lore. Any past lore. Healing magic? Gone. Qunari are super inclusive now despite it being totally at odds with the qunari we knew because Gaider says so. Teleportation is impossible, except now it isn't. A good series takes what's said in past entries and expands on it, just because the past games could do better with one or two elements, doesn't mean you can't at least explain it and respect the lore that the series had before.

I don't miss it at all. It was dumb.

Also, most of the lore originated with David, and contrary to what some people think, has been pretty consistent all told. That said, I do think it's in good hands with Weekes.

Its funny to me that most people forget that part.

I guess it's easy to gloss over it without thinking... but I'm not even the first one to bring it up today.

I wish they'd do that but the chances seem rather low, it seems like a good portion of the lore changes every time a new game comes out.

And maybe finally decide what Qunari look like, we had three versions of them now and I hope they stick with one in the future.

Why can't they have all three versions? Humans, Elves, and Dwaves all look different within their race why not Qunari?

As on topic as this thread can be... I started Family Matters last night. Have not yet finished it. It's a very cool quest, but pretty much every step so far was spoiled (here, and also accidentally when I picked up a "World of the Witcher" book at the store), which sadly  lessens the impact.

I found The Family Matters quest to be quite fantastic. One of the best quest in the game and simply in RPGs in general. I find the conclusion to be very powerful, no matter what choices you make.

Yeah...it is an interesting quest. Not my favorite. I sort of gave that family their worst possible outcome ;-)

I recently did something on Skellige that I really liked. "Possession" =).

The protagonists pretty much dismantle any and all narrative comparisons. One is a customizable player avatar and head of a resistance organization that makes delegation and direct participation in events tricky to work around. The other is an entirely predefined, deliberately neutral character with a blue-collar job that makes side-quests infinitely easier to design and engage.[/spoiler]

First of all, how in the heck is monster hunting a blue collar job considering there are only a handful of people in the entire world that can do it competently?  A blue collar job in that world is a farmer, or a minor, or a lumberer.  Certainly not a professional monster hunter.

Secondly, neither customizable or predefined characters make it any easier or harder to create good quests.  DA:O has fantastic quests and it has customizable characters.

lol @ blue collar.

When I was at University, I worked two jobs to supplement my scholarships. I had every blue collar job you can think of, even as a Barbelle (think Hooters) until my mom found out and made me quit. I applied for any job I could find, but don't recall ever seeing Monster-Hunter. Maybe we just don't have those in the south, perhaps the monsters are scared of our deep-fried blood and our shotgun- wielding rednecks. :P Maybe blue-collar is a little more bourgeois in that neck of the woods.

If you served as a waitress, then you were likely a monster-hunter, or perhaps it was the bouncer equivalent....

Yeah I don't think witcher is a blue collar job. i don't think it's any collar of job, I think it's a fairly crappy job you're basically drafted into, and if you live, you provide a service that most people split on you for and consider you a monster yourself. Not sure there's a real world equivelent.
