It's ridiculous. Basically what they did is make the grey wardens stupid idiots so that the Inquisition could save the day.
A demon army, sacrificing their own to this crazy plan, working with a tevinter magister without any questions. It's just ridiculous overall.
Imagine hearing a voice in your head, telling you over and over that your time has come, you are going to die, you will succumb to the taint and cease to exist. It is something every Warden will eventually deal with, and this would make you scared right? So you turn to a comrade, a friend, the only family you have left in the world and they are hearing the same thing. You both run to your leader pleading for help, she doesn't know whats happening herself, hearing the calling and can't offer help or advice to her comrades. Chaos ensues, and someone shows up with a solution to this problem. I talked about earlier how people that are desperate would be willing to do or accept anything, and this is true both in Thedas and in our world.
I think its brilliantly written, and even though it could have been fleshed out abit more, it was still well done and well presented. Isn't that we wanted from the game? Even if you didn't like the plot device you can still accept that it was well done from a design perspective? No? Even though i don't like everything about The Witcher games i can still appriciate the amount of work that went into the details and design of said content.

I didn't care for the entire scenario, even down to the calling bit. I can agree that it's reasonable that people would be that desperate to do something but there had to have been some clue that this just seemed too convenient of a solution.
But other people did enjoy it so too bad for me.
I liked the Grey Wardens ever since DAO. A quest event that made them look like desperate fools was bound to make me disappointed.
The quest itself was great don't get me wrong! I am fanboying hard over the Grey Wardens through out the series and to see them in that situation was painful to say the least.
Adamant Keep's siege was one of my better parts for the game too. I'm just saying I didn't like the situation overall. The invasion, and into the fade was great.
Much better than the masquerade ball I agree.

So, apparently, according to CDPR, they haven't even begun to think what to do next in the Witcher franchise.
They were dead set on getting an end for Geralt and will support TW3 with content for 2 years, yes, but no sequel for the foreseeable future.
It's not a big studio, so I imagine a large majority of the TW3 team will be working on Cyberpunk 2077.
While I would dearly love another Witcher game (as they have been getting progressively better), I sort of find it reassuring they're not trying to milk the franchise or Geralt, when this part of the story is obviously done.
However, with the 2 expansion-sized DLC planned and REDKit out... I'm hoping the TW3 will have the longevity of modded Skyrim, at least on PC.
Some spoilers I guess
nice. didnt know whirl can take him out b4 he changes combat mode ![]()
Honestly technically wise, witcher 3 ticked the right boxes and i really am looking forward to cyberpunk. Their writing is pretty good, they have shown they can do proper cities with different styles and people and districts properly. Performance is also good, same with animations, facial animations etc.
Basically they tick all the right boxes for a cyberpunk game. Finally the lead writer is the one who wrote witcher 2 so i can expect good personal stories where everyone is driven by survival and self interest and trust is based on case by case, situation by situation, which i think is the perfect style of writing and tone for a cyberpunk game.

When exactly is cyberpunk coming out? 2017?
I think the TW 2 team is leading Cyberpunk project now. So, hype is strong!

Well, frankly, the hype is weak. Apart from the initial trailer from a couple of years ago there hasn't been much news. I suppose it'll pick up next year.
What is true, is that the expectations among those who loved TW1 and 2 are pretty high. I am also hoping that, since the pen & paper RPG's timeline has been shifted forward by nearly half a century, we'll get some space stuff. Investigating stuff on Mars or a science station on one of the moons of Jupiter, an Orbital habitat near Earth, that kind of stuff. Would be perfect for the kind of smaller and / or more constrained locations that TW3 had (Vizima palace, White Orchard, Kaer Morhen).
It does seem likely ME4 will be released 1-2 years before Cyberpunk 2077. On the one hand that's a nice spread of sci-fi RPG's , on the other hand it will probably mean less comparisons and mutually-hostile-fan clashes, heh.
The next Deus Ex game will be released in 2016 as well, but I don't get the impression that it will be (quasi-) open world, as it appears to be confined to one city (Prague).
Personally, I hope they don’t return to the Witcherverse. The setting and its narrative dynamic is very strongly centred around Geralt, whose story is done. I'm not sure having a game with another Witcher, or even a non-Witcher character, would be a good idea.
I’m far more hoping they pick up some fantasy IP that is in the same general direction as The Witcher – with a fairly grounded, grim-realistic feel. I also hope they avoid the ‘let’s create our own IP’ trap, because completely creating an original, cohesive and detailed setting ex nihilo is a lot of work and, frankly, adds a lot of problems.
Apart from ‘being able to blow up the world if we feel like it’ and not paying licensing fees, there really aren’t many reasons to squander resources on inventing your own world, if there are several really good and richly-detailed ones available from fantasy literature and pen & paper RPG’s.
Having said that, there will be a lot of pressure from the fan community – and perhaps investors as well – on them to return to the Northern Kingdoms. I hope they’ll be able to resist. BioWare appears to be committed to churning out ME and DA sequels as long as possible and I can’t say I relish that prospect.
I feel the same about Geralt. Without him it just woouldn't be Witcher anymore. The games title "The Witcher" refers to him him and not just some random monsterslayer. Just like Tomb Raider is about Lara Croft and not some random person searching tombs.
Though I disagree that they should do another IP, which is similar to the Witcher. (though still better than creating a high fantasy world like dragon age) I honestly don't see the point in it. Instead they could just stay in the Witcher world and continue with Geralt. He is still very young for a Witcher and his story is only over if they want it to be over.
I would like them to release new addons with new regions in the next years. Witcher 3 has decent gameplay and a beautiful open world Furthermore there are still so many interesting places we could visit. A smaller team could probably do this, while the majority focusses on Cyberpunk and maybe a completely new Space-IP afterwards. And then maybe a new Witcher game in about 10-12 years, with a fresh Geralt.
I'd prefer a Ciri story. I think it has a lot of potential.
Let's say the White Frost thing left her magic dry and she's not as OP, but just has sword skills to start with, then you develop magic as you go along.
Maybe archery as well.
Then you get to meet Geralt and Co in minor roles, and maybe some other characters from the world in major roles in different lands (Kovir, etc.).
I'd dig that.
I'd definitely prefer a set protagonist with an already existing background - be it Ciri or Eskel or whoever.
But logically, it should be Ciri. Hopefully.

They said the Witcher is their main focus for this year and next, so suffice to say we won't get any real detail about Cyberpunk until 2017.

I could go for another romp through the world of the Witcher, just not as Ciri though. I don't find her interesting enough to take charge of the series and her magic isn't that interesting either, unless they allow us to teleport to different worlds.

I don't believe they will do a customizable charaacter. From what I have seen there is very little support for that from their fanbase.I have seen many different polls in different places about the future of the franchise and a customizable character was always the by far least popular choice. of course it's not reprenentative and doesn't mean they won't to do it. But I doubt CDP will go that route. There is just a too rich backstory of 8 books about certain characters to waste it on a new no-name hero.
I'm also not a big fan of the Ciri idea. Too much wrong with that. She is not a witcher (don't want to start that discussion, but imo being a witcher is not about the profession but the mutations) She can't use witcher potions. She has no witcher sense. She is completely OP. Her time- and spacetravel abilities contradict with the more grounded tone of the Witcher world. And if people say Geralt's story is over than the same has to be said about Ciri. Her story, which started in Sword of Destiny came to a conlusion in Witcher 3.
This being said. If not Geralt than Ciri would be the only logical choice if it's not a prequel. (then we could play a younger Geralt or Vesemir)
Every other Witcher would be just a inferior version of Geralt. A customizable character, like mentioned above would be just awful.
Though the discussion is pretty pointless as a new witcher game is very unlikely before 2022

Ciri is quite possibly the wost character in the witcher anything ever. Best thing that can happen is we never see her again.
Having a custom character or Lambert (with a new voice actor) would be my preference
