I used to get upset when people let the North suffer to save their sorceress waifus from being brought to justice. I'm numb to it now. ![]()
And remember that Novigrad is an independent city, Radovid is not responsible for their stance on mages.

Didn't know that, no. But the blockade you have to get through is occupied the Redanian army, so I just assumed.
Spoiler
The Redanian army holds the Pontar, I'm not sure where Novigrad's land ends and Redania's begins, but the river is held by Redania for sure.
Witcher 2 Radovid is my waifu. I take great offence to this.

The squirrels are all murderers and terrorists anyway, wont shed any tears for them. They should be more like the Mahakam volunteers (ie the cool non-humans Zoltan and Yarpen)who were rewarded for their loyalty.
And as for Emhyr...

This is getting off topic lol. But the squirrels kill any human they see outside the city walls. They deserve a good hanging.
Hmmm.. I'll stop but I think it's appropriate.
It demonstrates that we actually care about the internal conflicts which happen on the political scale of Temeria. I didn't feel as compelled in this game compared to games prior when it came to the Mage Templar conflict. In Inquisitions defense, it didn't need to be emphasized as much, 2 did this the best. Because in Kirkwall, that was the catalyst for the mage rebellion.
The plot didn't really call for it in DAI. The Templars had abandoned the chantry, and the mages long before left. The only thing you could really have is more mage executions or forced rites of tranquility. It wouldn't have fit so much. Also considering Orlais was split by civil war, you wouldn't have seen a major conflict with Ferelden realistically. The only way they could have had an effective political overall battle were to be with what becomes of Orlais depending on who becomes the sole leader. Unfortunately for me, I didn't care with either. I preferred Gaspard over Celine or Briala.
Maybe they could have fleshed out more what the visual impact would be for each different leader? I could be mistaken on this too but I would have liked to seen who would have been affected by the decision between Gaspard and Celine. Like for example, Celine makes it easier for commoners, and slightly more tolerable for elves than say Gaspard, where Gaspard caters to wealthy families that support Orlais military with financial assistance, a bit harder on elves and commoners. I like what they did with notice boards in The Witcher 3. In each little village you get snapshots of the events that happen around them. "Nilfgaardian Lessons" "A New Order" and a few other bits of writing that help convey a sense of change. They can do this easily with Codex's in the next game too.
Either way hopefully they flesh out our Orlais decision with DA4. Could be interesting to say the least.

Thank you for this. I'm not surprised I got some of the details wrong (this is my first time through the game).Spoiler
Anyway, it was a fantastic quest. How do you like the game so far? Are you getting more use to the combat and signs? I have a friend who recently started playing and at first he wasn't really enjoying it, but I urged him to hang in there and now that he is used to the combat system, he is loving it.

I love the game. I honestly never thought I wouldn't, even from the start (just looking at it in action is the whole reason I wanted to get into the series in earnest) but yes. I've gotten the hang of the combat and it's a lot of fun. The world itself is insane. I'm 40+ hours in and I'm level 12. Only just hitting Novigrad. And there are aspects of the gameplay (alchemy, strategic sword use, the bestiary) that I love to pieces. Definitely scratch an itch that isn't served by most other games, other than occasionally a heavily modded Skyrim (and even then, poorly).
I'm digging the story. I retract (in a defiantly unapologetic way, mind you) some of the meaner things I've said about Geralt in the past, before I played through the whole thing. He's fun to play as, and he's a nice dude. That doesn't at all temper my enthusiasm for custom protagonists in games like these, but I'm happy to find that it's not at all a chore. I'm finding I have more or less the same freedom of self-determination as I would with Hawke or Shepard, and that's enough for me in the meantime.
But I've also barely scratched the main storyline, as I've said. I've done Family Matters and everything wrapped together with that one, and a bunch of secondary quests/witcher contracts/treasure hunts. I'm looking forward to that picking up, and finally getting into the love triangle stuff and meeting up with Ciri, but I've had a great time just meandering and occasionally getting my ass kicked by a giant bear or earth elemental.

I am glad to hear it!
It is a game that is like sipping wine, not chugging beer lol. I am level 30 on my second playthrough and have just finished the battle of Kaer Morhen. I still have quite a long way to go, really. This game seriously holds some hours, which I actually love.
Definitely not chugging it, no. As soon as I got out of White Orchard, I turned off place of interest markers, and I walk or ride everywhere. The only fast traveling I've done was back to White Orchard a few times before I opened up the stash box in Velen.
Also, I have to say that beard Geralt is 110% more appealing. I think I just like beards, though.
More games need dynamic beard growth.

It's when I heard this was included that I knew I had to play Witcher 3 ![]()
He looks awesome with the Squall haircut and the beard, actually. Never going back from that.
Muttonchops for life. I wanted my Geralt to look like a grey haired Lemmy. ![]()

This is, of course, an entirely valid position.
