Starting up inquisition for the first time in ages today for the dlc, I think it'll be hard to play after the Witcher tbh.

I also bought spoils of the qunari, which felt like how I'd imagine seppuku would feel.

It was hard for me.  I recently finished my first playthrough of DA:I, and it was so hard schlogging my way through it after how much I absolutely adored TW3.  But I had to d it, I mean, I spent money on it, so I had to play it the whole way through at least once.  I actually liked the ending, some neat revelations there, but man....that was a whole lot of doldrum to get to that ending.

W3 was to long (341 hours to play, before any DLC. just have to do another ? ) ... DA:I too long 200 hours to play ... The previous games 95 - 120 hours to complete with DLC was perfect. Like I said in my other post that I put in the wrong section. MORE DOES NOT MAKE BETTER. Story quests and other quests play time should be the majority of the game not the minority. Why only one play through for DA:I and W3 for me plus the DLC.( previous Dragon age/dlc games 3x each).

Disagree. Drown me in content. The bigger the better. DAI was great, but TW3 seems like it's too good in this respect.

I think generally, in the case of games like this, the completionist mindset needs to be tamped down though. Skip things. Save stuff for subsequent playthroughs. I've skipped over a bunch of stuff in TW3 that I'm gonna save for my NG+. I didn't even unlock 2 or 3 zones in my first DAI game. I used to be a completionist too, but sometimes it doesn't even make sense for a given character to do everything. Skipping over some stuff to save for later makes for a more engaging personal story, a lot of the time.

Also, the notion that you can get that much time out of any of the previous Bioware or Witcher games is mind boggling. I think my absolute longest playthroughs hovered right around 50-60 hours in any of them. 95 hours for a single DAO game? That's insane. More power to you, I guess, though.

Here's the key difference though: while the vast majority of DAi's content was chores and busywork, all the witcher's stories got the same love and attention. I've loved the entire game. DAI had an incredibly short main story and very little else, but please, drown me in more witcher content, because it was well done, it was engaging, and I can't wait to go back for more.

Great writing makes better, more great writing is always good. As for DAI, I did feel the big empty maps and single line of dialogue chores detracted from the experience, but the two titles aren't comparable in terms of quality.

I think my next DAI playthrough will be like 30 hours at most. The side stuff after playing tw3 just isn't worth my time. I can get real stories elsewhere and skip the terrible busywork.

As long as the content is there, I never want the game to end.  TW3 felt like it went by far to quickly for me and I put a crap load of time into it.  If it had taken me 1000 hours to finish, I still would have been bemoaning that it was not just a little bit longer.  It was that good for me.

I'm never able to turn off my completionist mindset, lol.  With each character I have to do it all.  Even in DA:I, I wanna hear how each character I have chosen as my main party reacts to different things and the different things that they say.  I drive myself nuts at times with it believe me.

Your pretty awesome yourself KBomb.

D'aww thanks. I am pretty sure a lot of people would disagree, but it is very nice of you to say so.

It's hard for me to not to want do everything, too. I am doing what TommyServo suggested about saving some things for subsequent playthroughs, I have to hide the POI, though. If not, I have too weak of a will.

"Is that POI an Abandoned site or Hidden Treasure? I better check it out to be sure. Those people need to return home!"

I am playing the new dlc for DAI and it feels weird to not be playing TW3. I keep wanting to use TW3's controls lol.

I have that problem when I switch to Witcher 2 :D

What's the new DAI dlc like? More boring fetch quests or more story driven? Is it worth the £15?

I'm not that far in to make a sound judgement, but looks like the same 'ole Deep Roads to me. Very little banter from your companions. The enemies don't really fight with special skills or techniques, and they don't seem difficult so far. They gave them a bigger health pool and it becomes tedious to take them down.

Edit: Also, everytime I see a genlock, I think of this:

Personally came back to DA:I for the new DLC and I'm pleasantly surprised with the lore thats uncovered within it, yes the fights are tedious but I certainly did enjoy a new perspective on dwarven history. But yea just finished my first playthrough of Witcher 3 (190 hours of pure enjoyment) and I have to say it slayed DA:I in terms of story-telling/exploration and side-questing (absolutely LOVED the majority of the side quests in the W3). Thier's definitely a thing or two Bioware can learn from the Witcher 3 in terms of story play I'm absolutely ecstatic to start a new playthrough of W3 whereas I'm not nearly as motivated to complete my Nightmare playthrough (thats not to say I'm afraid of the difficulty, I just don't quite enjoy doing non-main story content in this game).

Also can't help but grow tired of DA:Is combat, while its a huge improvement from DA2 it doesnt quite capture the awesome feel of DA:O's far more strategy based combat.

Not worth 15 quid at all, finished it in a few hours, but it is more story driven.

Lore wise you are left with more questions than answers and the companions are silent basically the whole way through it.

I'd say the majority of the time is soaked up in battles. It wouldn't hurt Bioware to learn that giving enemies a deeper health pool isn't making the game more challenging and difficult. It makes it more tedious. I'd rather be exploring than spending a 101 hours fighting a freaking group of enemies that should be cake to take down, except that I am throwing out a metric crapton of damage for their health to move a tiny sliver. I now have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome due to this dlc. So, there is that.

Guess the Dwarf lover's thread must be playing another Descent DLC, as they are hyped about the lore. Am only a short way in thus far, but can say that falling damage is a priority threat.

Honestly their are too many devs that I wish understood that More Health does not equal harder content, its probably the most annoying ass pull I encounter with devs of any game/MMO >.< Didnt mind the price too much cause exploring the Deep Roads was grand and enjoyed the lore points but yea the combat bored the hell out of me

Lore wise:

The Titan is a Derelict Reaper. Its blood/fuel is element zero aka lyrium to the primitive denizens of Thedas. The dwarven chick became a biotic. The reaper sings and indoctrinate those around it to protect it. Tthe riffles those dwarven husk are holding are Reaper tech - they lack the technology hence they improvise.

There :P

There is a dialogue about them if you have Blackwall and a codex from one on her calling.

Or we are playing the same dlc and have different opinions on it.

You and your conspiracy theories. :P
