Did Skyrim have that ? My bad then, I played Skyrim after most patches so didn't live it.

Though I still hold to my original point, I'd love for Bioware to support the modding community next time.

Been bashing Bioware for a while but to come to their defense on this one, they were porting to a new engine and while I think they may have overused that excuse on some of the things they failed to accomplish, if there's anything a new engine does excuse its not being able to get the mod tools ready. I believe them when they say they'd like to do it but its a challenge to create your game in such a way that you can supply reasonably workable tools to third parties to alter the content of your game. It requires thought up front on how you structure your game as well as considerable time and effort designing and testing the tools. There is some payoff as, if your tools are good, they can be used by your own devs (something Bethesda does) but devs can and usually do get by with much less user friendly* tools than you'd want to release as 'officially supported' mod tools.

*'user friendly' in the sense that they're more comfortable working with raw code and basic formats where mod tools are generally expected to provide a user a more visually codified experience.

May I just say too that I almost feel sorry for Bioware that this long after release the "Be more like Witcher 3" thread is still the top feedback thread? (And in case you're wondering it was top before I posted, I'm not the one propping it up.)

@KBomb, @Nette: Thanks a lot, found her. Damn that's awesome (well...not for her of course). Thanks for the directions KBomb  :P

You absolutely have a point. I'm now wondering if it's just the engine itself that is simply not mod friendly at all. At this point I kind of wish Bioware would've opted for a more flexible engine. But I assume it was more of an EA decision seeing as most of their games are now running on it. At least the engine can still look wonderful.

I really have hopes by the time the next Dragon Age ships, Bioware will have familiarized itself enough for making a modkit (if EA would even allow it  :( )

You should really read them, then you'll see why Emhyr is 1000 times worse than Rad the Lad.

I chose Radovid on my first playtrougth, but after i see this, never again:

Spoiler

Emhyr could be a heartless leader but the outcome is way better whit him.

Since the new DA:I DLC just introduced machineguns, I think it is safe to say DA will never be close to being more like The Witcher.

Thanks to all who answered my little question. I'll probably end up getting all three games since it costs about the same either way. Who knows, maybe I'll like the first one. If not, I'll just skip it straight to the good stuff.

I'll be sure to let you guys know my impressions once I've played the games. Hopefully they're as good as they say!

Well. Machineguns are part of Thedas now. That changes the whole picture completely.

Since this has become the Witcher forum here, some useful mods:

No auto center camera. Now you can enjoy the view while riding Roach: http://www.nexusmods...her3/mods/326/?

No auto sheathing. It's in your hands now: http://www.nexusmods...her3/mods/319/?

These two mods alone are HUGE improvements. Now if they can just get to that automatic combat stance. Mods FTW.

Aww I haven't played the dlc yet, but machine guns? Maybe exploding lyrium bolts thingie with splash damage darkspawn style? I mean they had catapults in Origins, so maybe they got more innovative.

Lyrium bolts shaped like morning stars fired from rifles. They have rapid fire.

Rifles??? You're kidding me now. I'd like to see this but no close ups anywhere on the thing that I can find.

I actually think CDPR upped BioWare in that department this time around. It has been a long while since I felt more brotherhood with a group of characters than I did with Lambert and Eskel, for instance.

100% my opinion. Yep. I really did not feel any sort of camaraderie.

I still think the graphics and cinematics were better than DAI. Regardless, I prefer the characters in Dragon Age, including previous games.

Here is a link to the Dwarves using the new arms (still have not been able to see the new ranged weapons myself):

No screenie, but take a look at Xletalis' playthrough of the DLC, part 4 (https://www.youtube....h?v=XQgcE0yhWzM, from around 1:50).

Appear to be hand held ballista, which is still within the realm of medieval technology, IMO.

Hum...I don't know. I don't like expressing my opinion as I haven't really seen it myself, but from what I saw it does feel a bit too stretched for my taste.

Bianca was already much for me, but being a unique thing, I could live with it. But this seems like it's crossing a line

While I'm not happy at all about these weapons, it's pretty much in line with Bio's tendency to mix up lots of things in Thedas, especially in DA:I, in terms of technology and styles of clothing and architecture. They already got 19th century stuff in DA:I, and well, machine guns are a 19th century invention, so...

And before people complain too loudly, Witcher also has its weirdness with talk of mutations and DNA and genes. CDPR kept the material culture pretty consistent and cohesive in the games, but lorewise Sapkowski made a pretty ramshackle mess of things. It sort of works in the stories if you don't think too much about it.

People at Bio probably thought they were cool, and a lot of fans will possibly agree with them.

Bioware might as well ban me if you aren't going to let me complain. You've already lost me as a customer. I bought everything right up through Inquisition but you aren't getting any money out of me for the DLCs or any future games.

Spineless creatively bankrupt company bludgeoning promising franchises to death . . .

Machine guns. F***king ridiculous.

That's true, and I was actually really annoyed by those anachronisms. They really irritate me and take me out of the immersion. I wish they would just be given to Radovid to be burned  at the stake.

I believe the Human's in the Witcher are from another world, maybe that's where they learned about genes, phenotype and DNA?
