Did Skyrim have that ? My bad then, I played Skyrim after most patches so didn't live it.
Though I still hold to my original point, I'd love for Bioware to support the modding community next time.
Been bashing Bioware for a while but to come to their defense on this one, they were porting to a new engine and while I think they may have overused that excuse on some of the things they failed to accomplish, if there's anything a new engine does excuse its not being able to get the mod tools ready. I believe them when they say they'd like to do it but its a challenge to create your game in such a way that you can supply reasonably workable tools to third parties to alter the content of your game. It requires thought up front on how you structure your game as well as considerable time and effort designing and testing the tools. There is some payoff as, if your tools are good, they can be used by your own devs (something Bethesda does) but devs can and usually do get by with much less user friendly* tools than you'd want to release as 'officially supported' mod tools.
*'user friendly' in the sense that they're more comfortable working with raw code and basic formats where mod tools are generally expected to provide a user a more visually codified experience.
May I just say too that I almost feel sorry for Bioware that this long after release the "Be more like Witcher 3" thread is still the top feedback thread? (And in case you're wondering it was top before I posted, I'm not the one propping it up.)
