That's true, and I was actually really annoyed by those anachronisms. They really irritate me and take me out of the immersion. I wish they would just be given to Radovid to be burned  at the stake.

Yup, but it's part of the IP, CDPR can't do much about it. I might just about accept a Mendelian understanding of genetics, but...ah, well.

By the way, after taking a better look at the 'guns', it is possible they are supposed to be torsion weapons as mentioned, rather than firearms.

The 'slits' on top of the 'barrel' are very reminiscent of ballista / crossbow 'slits'.

If they're torsion weapons they are probably totally unworkable, but hey, it's not as if DA only has strictly realistic weapons...

Regardless whether they are torsion weapons or firearms ('bolts propelled by tiny lyrium explosions'), it is clear that they are intended to 'be like machine guns' in terms of looks and effects.

Well yeah it is a little ( or a lot) out of place but I gotta admit it looks pretty damned cool, I want one! And why the hell did the darkspawn gets to wear those cool armor and we don't?!?!?!

They aren't darkspawn, but dwarves wearing tan pajamas below their black geometric 'lyrium' armour. They don't talk but only growl a bit, but then again, they drink lyrium. It does save on the voice acting budget, heheh :D.

The whole Titans thing does remind a bit too much about WoW and its Titans, though I'm sure Bio will file off the seria..., eh, think up its own totally different 'cool' lore.

No screenie, but take a look at Xletalis' playthrough of the DLC, part 4 (https://www.youtube....h?v=XQgcE0yhWzM, from around 1:50).

Spoiler

Oh good grief Dragon Age Inquisition - Call of Duty Edition .... LOL

I'm joking ... I think ... Seriously not sure what to make of it, but suffice to say I really don't see myself wasting money on that dlc, I don't play dragon age to fire guns, I used to play it for good stories and side quests with stories....

Just finished playing Witcher 2 on that beat up old second-hand xbox360 I bought just so I could play it and  wow even that leaves Inquisition in the dust, from a story and npc point of view. The love and care cd projekt red put into the Witcher games really shows. They really seem to want to give people great games where as Bioware just seem to want to get as much money as they possibly can for as little effort as possible. It's so sad because I love the Dragon Age franchise but I fear it will continue downhill. :(

Ah ok, I thought it looked a bit like the legion of the dead armor but with bling bling spikes-ish. But those weapons still strange to see on DA world. Does not stop me wanting one though.

ROFLMAO give them a couple of weeks and you will see them flogging it as extra dlc, when really it should be a drop in that one... but got to squeeze every dime they can out of people...

It's possible Bio is putting more effort into the 'big' final DLC; in fact I think it's rather likely. Whether it will be any good...biggest risk is maybe that they'll try to 'overdo' things. We'll see. Ever since DA2 I've made a habit out of watching playthroughs of the DLC, at least whenever I have my doubts about the quality of Bio's DLC - which is pretty much all the time these days. :(

The arms and armor are inscribed with lyrium; hence the bling appearance. And because of this, it is doubtful that another race could safely wear it; Sandal excluded.

Well yeah. This is a far cry from Origins that I really love. Who needs mages now that you got those guns? I want to use those on Solas if we meet him again.

While I think the guns looks cool, it kind of cemented the death of the franchise for me. It's sad.

But if there's Alistair on the next DA, I'd probably buy it anyway :P heh

Yeah well.. there is not a single thing that the Inquisitor can't do it seem. So ofc he/she can wear this, and lyrium ear and nose rings too if they got it.

I hope no guns in any of TW3 ex packs... brrrr.. even if Geralt would look positively stunning with it.

This just made me realize. Machine guns aren't just bad for a fantasy setting in general, they're really bad for this one specifically because once these are available, nobody would ever bother with mages. Mages in this setting are mostly used for combat (because Bioware has little imagination and a stunted sense of joy). But a machine gun won't get uppity and try to usurp your mind with blood magic and it can't be possessed by a demon (unless Bioware decides they can and frankly they've made stupider moves than "Gun Demon" . . . omg, they really have made stupider moves than that, its just sinking in. )

I hope you're right. I hope this final DLC is going to be more like an expansion and is just going to be amazing.

This last dlc is the only one I have purchased and I regret it. I am not sure if it's just me, but this didnt even feel like a dlc. It felt almost like a MP mission, without the multi. When it was over, I kept waiting for the "On the next episode...." to pop up.

I keep hearing fans talk about that "Amazing alpha emissary fight". The only thing amazing was when it's health finally plummeted out. It was just so long and tedious and monotonous. It was a pretty short dlc too, IMO.

I don't know. I don't want to sound like a pill, but it was a pretty dismal experience for $15.

Qunari always had gunpowder so I don't see why this is such a shock. Of course a society that decried magic to the point they don't even teach their mages anything beyond the rudiments of their powers, or one that has no magic is going to figure out a way to compensate.

Origin was only the beginning and never the be all end all of the story.

I'd suggest trying to see the bigger picture here. This isn't Witcher, a story wedded to a very specific set of mythologies: Germanic, Arthurian, and Irish along with a specific Earth like period.

Dragon Age is not that. We know Witcher because people can pick up the books and read Geralt's story. There is no set PC in DA so there's no set story. There's ancillary stuff, but not the main threat. It's extra color. And we don't know everything. Which is part of what Descent is.

Calling it Call of Duty is ridiculous, especially since these Dwarves have evolved separately from their Ozammer kin.

Mainstream reviews (IGN, Gamespot etc.) were pretty meh about it - the 'It's not bad but...' kind of reviews which, given the fairly general suspicion with which mainstream reviews are received these days...well, it's not looking good. Most do say that it's okay for the diehard fans, but that's not really a recommendation, it's almost as if they're saying 'don't bother, but the real diehards will lap it up'.

The vids seem to confirm this - very linear and repetitive environments that basically reuse existing assets, although there seems to be a nice visual 'sense of verticality' here and there. But by Melitele, I hope that TW3's first major DLC will do a lot better...

According to the Eurogamer review this DLC was made in Austin, by the way. Presumably 'the big DLC' will be made by Edmonton?

Well yeah they had gunpowder but machine guns that fires and looks like that?? C'mon, when I played Origins I did not in a million years ever thought I'd ever see a machine gun like that. Did you? You could call it color or even jesus, but some of us don't see it that way.

And what's those guns got to do with seeing the big picture? Did you think there's a whole lot of lore to be learned from those machine guns?

If TW3's small story dlc is anything to go by,(Where the cat and wolf play) then we have nothing to worry about on the big ones. Of course, that is no gaurantee of quality, but if a free one is of high quality, is does set up a standard for the paid ones.

Last night a friend gave me an interesting theory about The Descent. I made the comment that the dlc seemed a little off base from the rest of the story and that I wasn't sure what Bioware was trying to conceive with it. He said he felt it was a stepping stone to be used as a way to give dwarves some kind of "magical" abilities in future installments of MP or main games. People have always been disappointed that dwarves have no special abilities and this could be the answer. Time will tell, I suppose.

Really? Ridiculous eh? You did see the bit where I said that was a joke right... because I think it's pretty ridiculous that you missed that part of my comment in your rush to claim it's ridiculous.
