Well it was made by Bioware Austin, the studio that did Swtor. I haven't played it yet, but from what i've read it seems very interesting. :)

It's okay as long as you like big health bars, little story, and do few answers that your inquisitor actually makes a joke about having more questions then answers.

Well played. Conceded.

But the essence of my comment is that it could still be worse.

For sure. What Bioware is doing is on the stupid level, Konami is on the inhuman level.

Am I trippin' or did this whole forum just disappear from the front page? I reloaded, got an error, and now I can only access it through my post history.

No, It's not on my front page either...

I have to scroll further down the main page to find this now. I hate it.

It was a reflex at this point.

I thought you guys were gone! Wtf is going on with this place? Off-Topic people are about to riot and I don't blame them.

The announcement was definitely transparent in not wanting any games being discussed but there own. How very totalitarian.

I am just so glad you guys are here still. Seriously, someone should set up a group before we're gone. You know it's only a matter if time. :(

Yeah, that was a weird read. A part of me kinda believes and hopes they're just trolling, but I dunno - it's not April 1st. I didn't frequent the Off-Topic as much as other people, but was it really that bad? From my browsing I can't recall any giant mishaps. I've only seen this happen once on another forum, and that was mainly due to the fact that there was a significant amount of threads dedicated to trolling and attacking other users - but that forum was way smaller and the mods weren't the most professional of people. From Bioware's OP, all I got from it was that they wanted people to focus on talking about their games. If that's the case, then... Wow.

And that last part worries me, 'cause like you said it might only be a matter of time before they quarantine this thread as well.

If they don't address this issue properly, the only outcome I can see is people leaving en masse, or saying heil SS Bioware and staying. And like I've said, I was never highly involved or invested in the Off-Topic section, but I can still think its regular users' anger is fully justified and overall this just seem like a very silly call.

It's only a matter of time, probably.

That being said...

Is there any point to wearing anything apart from witcher gear? As in, is there anything I'm going to be able to upgrade at all? I also haven't caught on to how items work yet, since I've been looting Novigrad longswords since like, level 3 and they seem to be leveling with me.

I've played 80 hours now (...) and I've gone from Temerian armor, to Griffin armor, to Cat armor, and I'm level 22. Once I hit 23, I'm gonna craft my enhanced car armor.

And how is this stuff working out in NG+? Do those non-witcher gear items get bumped up when you import? Should I be saving them or buying the schematics I find?

Tbh, I never wore any gear other than witcher gear after a certain level, so I can't answer the part about normal gear being upgraded. As for NG+, there is a Legendary upgrade for witcher armors, so might want to tuck your witcher gear in the stash if you want to keep them for that.

From the Announcement Thread (emboldened my doing):

To answer a few questions:

We will continue to monitor how things go with these new changes and make future decisions based on the results.

For now, Off-Topic will remain closed. We understand (and as is evidenced by this thread) that this may upset some users, but our hope is this will create a stronger forum community in the long run. to those of you who are upset, please remember to express yourselves in ways that are respectful and in keeping with the terms of use of these boards. Anyone uttering threats or using excessively harsh and abusive language will receive moderation action.

Off-Topic discussions in other areas will be locked, and posters who are repeat violators or who are found to be purposefully derailing other areas will have their posting moderated. We will continue to allow master threads like the Twitter and Drinkquisition threads, that are slightly off-topic at times. That being said, people actively working to drive such threads further off-topic may start to receive moderation. Likewise, threads comparing BioWare titles to their contemporaries are also perfectly fine (though as always we do ask that people try to find an appropriate existing thread before starting a new one).

We are continuing to look at other changes to the forums (such as changes to groups) and ways we can improve the community as a whole, but nothing has been set as of yet. We want to see how these initial changes go first, and will decide what to do next from there.

I never hung out there either, but the reason I like coming here is to talk Bioware and other stuff, with people I've become acquainted with while talking about Bioware. If they ditch the "stuff" and I'm left with just the Bioware, well, that's half my reason for hanging around gone.

Every other dedicated gaming forum I've ever frequented has had a dedicated OT section - if they enforce this, it's gonna be a mistake.

Yeah, I was planning on it. It's just an issue with the reflexive min-maxer in me vying with my desire for item variety. The game isn't tough enough on B&BB that I need to squeeze every bit of mileage from my items and stats, but I still have to "force" myself to play non-optimally (and the stress that causes nearly cancels out the enjoyment derived therefrom, because I'm weird). I have the same problem, though magnified, in DAI.

Plus, I thought I saw people saying they had level 30something items stashed away that got bumped to level 50something once they imported.

Yeah, I see either the forums dying or the dragon age sections being filled with off-topic.

On topic- The Witcher forums have an OT section, which is something bioware should work on.

There is some non-Witcher gear that can be upgraded - the Kaer Morhen armor for example, but from what I've seen the top-level Witcher gear will always beat the top-level non-Witcher gear, mainly due to the stats. The main problem with all the other armors is the fact that few (if any) provide any significant protection against monsters.

I switched armors around at the beginning as well, but after I decided on the Ursine armor I only focused on upgrading that and I haven't worn anything else since.

As for NG+, all armors gets buffed to match the new levels (30+). If you're planing on using different armors, I'd craft them - since that way you wont have to hunt them down again once you start NG+. I've also heard that certain schematics can't be found in NG+ - such as those for the Wolf School gear since the merchant isn't there, but I can't confirm this. Basically, craft everything you think you'll use, 'cause you'll lose your schematics once you start up NG+.

Where is Radovid when we need him  :(

What a sad day this has become.

I really hope they do reconsider their decision.

So where can I get the other cat oriented armors? I only plan on using that one and the Wolf Armor.

...unless we get to level up our starting gear. Because that one looks simple, yet awesome. And I like it that way.

Also, I probably laughed at this a lot longer and harder than I should have...

Spoiler

I wonder who made that? I bet he is criminally handsome and unimaginably witty.  ^_^

A CDPR dev said he loved the Radovid thread so I'm now giddy.

I gotta say, the ModKit may be less advanced than RedKit, but I'm already seeing far more interesting mods for Witcher 3 than Witcher 2.

Oh no they fight to the death then. XD

Or do they? My memory is mostly of Bhelen's men going beserk. I'm assuming it's the same for Harrowmont's considering Bhelen will have them all killed.

I think I had a playthrough once, or I saw my roomate have a playthrough where they chose Bhelen, Harrowmont submitted, and Bhelen executed him anyway.

So typical of the new Bioware, treat fans like crap. It's total BS because the other forums do have ot sections for fans to discuss other games even cdpr have an ot forum.

The way Bioware have been treating fans since the release of DAI pretty much guarantees I won't be wasting anymore money on their mmo style games especially as they are talking about both multiplayer and co-op getting shoehorned into future games so they can nickle & dime players dry! It's a shame they have become so anti-fan because I always loved their games and supported them from the start by buying evey game they made and all the expansions, but no more the poor quality of DAI and the crap way they are treating the people who have supported them have ended it for me now.

Ahhh don't blame Bioware so much, this is probably more EA's doing.  Though...Bioware these days isn't really all that different.  I mean really you can barely call it Bioware anymore.  All the truly great people that made Bioware what it was are now gone.
