Where do you have the 4 millions from? Google doesn't show anything with that number.

This is the only number I can find:

The Electronic Arts published game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, launched in North America and Europe last week and first week sales are now in. The game managed to sell 1,136,285 units worldwide in its first week, for the week ending November 22, 2014. This comes after the news that the game sold 560,156 units in its first week in the US.

It's perhaps an extrapolation of VG Chartz numbers, globally across all platforms they guesstimated sales to be around 3.6 million or so (as of july 2015). It's anybody's guess how reliable those numbers are, but four million does not sound unreasonable.

If they're sourcing that from VGchartz, it's A) not particularly accurate (not news, there), and B ) it does not take into account digital sales.

A small-scale comparison are the sales awards here in germany, as they are pretty accurate and include digital sales.

The PS4 version of Dragon Age Inquisition got the BIU Sales Award Gold (100.000+ sales)  in March 2015 (+-4 months after release)

The PS4 version of Witcher 3 got the BIU Sales Award Platin (200.000+ sales) in June 2015 (+-1 month after release)

Vg chartz is no way reliable. According to them Witcher 1+2 sold about 2 million times together, while CDP announced 8+ million sales last year.

I really don't care who's selling more. I just want Dragon Age to be what I loved again. A non MMO to start with. Sigh.

That won't happen if the sales are indeed good or even great.

I don't want to gloat over CDPR's success, but I am damn proud of them and for them. They deserve every single accolade they get. Whether or not a person loves or dislike TW3, it's obvious that a lot of love and attention went into that game. Then top that off with the dignity and respect in how they treat their fans. Will they ever change and become a company that cares only for profit in the future? Who knows, but right now, they have earned my loyalty and respect and I will proudly support them with not only my money, but my high praise. They are a gaming company who set a standard in this industry and that should be recognized.

That being said, I do not want Bioware to fail. I want them to succeed in every possible way. They're a great company that has entertained me for many, many years. But in my opinion, they have drifted further and further away from what they used to represent and have allowed a gulch to form between them and their fans and it's hard to watch. I do hope they take some notes from CDPR and I hope they take some feedback from TW3's success and use it as inspiration in their upcoming games. We need Bioware. As gamers who love RPG's, we need to support them. If Bioware fails, that is one less company out there making rpg's and we need this genre to succeed. I just fear that if things continue the way they are, with so much concentration and effort being poured into MP, substandard DLC and a main game that feels a few leagues behind it's peers, we'll never see Bioware reach it's full potential and that saddens me.

Some seem to have the idea that TW3 apparent success means DAI has failed. Both were successful titles, and both are different games. Personally hope to see more like DAI in Bioware's future.

I am with you there, unfortunately the evidence points to them just wanting to produce as little content as possible in for as much money as they can get out of gamers.

I am so tired of so many games having to have multiplayer and co-op in them so they can further nickle & dime gamers too, especially when like with DAI they start making it so you have to play multiplayer to get stuff for the single player game.

I think Bioware's move towards multiplayer is inevitable, hell DA:I was supposed to be multiplayer only.

I honestly thought that ME3's mutliplayer was actually quite fun and wasn't bothered that much by the micro transactions. But I think the concept worked quite poorly for DA:I. I tried it and found it terribly boring. And somehow the micro transactions felt harsher and more annoying this time around.

I know ME3's multiplayer was a success, but I don't think DA:I reached the same popularity. I do hope they ditch it for the following game (but I know they won't).

I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately the way Bioware are treating fans, the way they turned DA:I into an mmo etc... I think it's obvious that they aren't interested in good story driven single player rpgs anymore.

On top of the disrespectful way Bioware treat customers, well it's not a good way for a company to behave. Not sure about other countries but certainly here you can still buy DA:I brand new for the old gen machines, the classy thing to do would be to pull those copies from sale or at the very least put a sticker on them telling gamers that they won't be able to buy the expansions. Not everyone reads about games online before they buy them so expecting people to know the old gen version is buggier than an ant farm and won't be getting expansions is unreasonable. Seems Bioware can learn a lot from both CDPR and Rocksteady where customer relations are concerned as well as other things.

I don't. I want a real bioware game, not the shallow boring crap DAI became. I want an actual story, not a sandbox with nothing to do. I want side quests with real writing, not fetch quests a child could author.

It may be harsh, but DAI was a massive disappointment for me. I do NOT want to see another dragon age like it. I want one with the care and attention the witcher put into it's story.

DAI feels rushed and unimportant in comparison, and hopefully they take note gamers aren't total idiots who just mine rocks as a time sync.

And yet for all those perceived and subjective flaws: GOTY 2014. Seems there were some folks that played that are of a very different opinion.

Not sure if someone said this before but I'd personally prefer how DAI handled their inventory. Not that big a fan of weight restricted inventories. "Realism Shmealism!"

Understand that TW3 patched the components to be weightless. For DAI, I do not consider them as actually carried by the PC, but made accessible when at the proper crafting stations. Instead of mining ore, the PC marks the sites for mining. Etc.

Because the buisness functions differently. EA delivers those numbers to their shareholders, not to share with the customers. Why do you always assume hostility when we are not a 100% on the side of The Witcher? It might just be me reaching, but looks like you are doing the same sometimes.

What hostility? I only said I was curious about DAI's sales. EA published sales numbers before so there isn't some rule that prevents them to do it.

With the storage chest and weightless components, how is weight even still a problem? The only thing I can think of is that you're needlessly carrying too many swords and armours.

I hadn't played until post patch so it's probably much worse prior. It's a lot more forgiving now with the stash mechanics. I like to go out on a big adventure and then come back with my goodies to sell at a store.

Still, I think DAI did a great job with their inventory system.

I think if I had played it before the patch, it would have infuriated me. I'm glad they addressed it.

I would prefer DAI's weight system as well, but at least materials are weightless. I recently upgraded my saddlebags to the point where I have 170 carry weight, so it's no biggie.

Would be really nice if I could stash books, though. There are certain ones I like to keep (from the Witcher gear treasure hunts, etc). I know they don't add up to much, but it's still incredibly irritating.
