There's something The Witcher 3 has - an incredible attention to details.

And it's something that Dragon Age once had as well. I'm just replaying Origins, for like a sixth time, but the first time as Dwarf Commoner.

Imagine my suprise, when I found out my sister became Bhalen's lover, has his child and openly asks me to support him as King of Orzammar.

It's incredible, when after spending almost 300 hours with a game, you still find new things.

It's a feeling I had for some time, and now I'm convinced about it - it's those little things, the small details you find if you look carefully enough, that make a good game, great.

It made Origins great. And it made Witcher 3 great.

I want this attention to detail back in Dragon Age 4.

I think if I had played it before the patch, it would have infuriated me. I'm glad they addressed it.

I would prefer DAI's weight system as well, but at least materials are weightless. I recently upgraded my saddlebags to the point where I have 170 carry weight, so it's no biggie.

Would be really nice if I could stash books, though. There are certain ones I like to keep (from the Witcher gear treasure hunts, etc). I know they don't add up to much, but it's still incredibly irritating.

DAI doesn't have a limited weight? (God, it's been so long since I've played that I can't remember. :( ) I agree with you about the books. In Skyrim, between all of my houses, I probably have well over a thousand, if not more, considering you can build libraries in your dlc houses, which I do and pack them in trunks when I run out of room. I like to get all the sets, too.

Wow, typing that out and reading it, I think I may have issues.

They're good issues to have. Do you play Skyrim on PC? There's a wonderful mod that adds libraries to each hold, and they have all the books from the previous games in them as well - including Daggerfalls considerably more interesting "unexpurgated" biography of Barenziah.

DAI just has "slots" as it were. So a sword takes up a slot, a suit of armor takes up a slot, a rune takes up a slot, etc. It doesn't really require any further suspension of disbelief than Geralt carrying fifteen 4lb suits of armor in his pocket.

Old news maybe but the "mermaids" in Witcher 3 are actually the sirens. They have a mermaid skin/face to lure travellers and a siren one to devour them. Would not have noticed this myself but I killed a bunch of sirens in water and some of them had their "pretty" side on.

Endroga's are a real bastard, any advice for taking them down early level?

Opening sequence is best sequence.

Endregas are weak to fire, so igni is your best bet, always keep quen up as well. If you're feeling cheap, you can cheese them by going to the edge of their aggro zone, igni them, run out of their aggro zone and repeat.

It made Origins great. And it made Witcher 3 great.

I want this attention to detail back in Dragon Age 4.

Origins was superb. Sadly some people sees it as "aging badly" because of the gfx. Good thing is that judging from official bioware polls and a few random ones, I'm glad few people think that way and rather see it for an epic RPG that it was even now.

My own personal opinion ( don't shoot me, if you think otherwise won't make me think you're wrong)
DAI= pretty and dumb
TW3= beauty, brains, heart and soul

Now back to hunting for my wolven gear that eluded me.

Edit: where the heck do I find the cat school quest anyway?

I believe the first map is found in Blackbough.

Origins is not aging badly at all, but i guess my standards aren't that high on the gfx part. I still play Fallout from 1997 and it looks great. Some people think Origins is overrated though, as some do with The Witcher 3 (me included) and that just happens with some games. Not easy to find out why always, but i can respect what people like about said game and see the values aswell, but that doesn't mean i like them myself.

I am curious as to what you mean by the dumb part though? And why this game turned you over to The Witcher series and not earlier entries in the franchise. (If you already played the old games, ignore this.)

What hostility? I only said I was curious about DAI's sales. EA published sales numbers before so there isn't some rule that prevents them to do it.

Don't you know that hours "enjoyed" is a far more accurate way to determine a game's success. No company would use crappy flowery language like hours enjoyed, dragons slayed, most successful launch (yeah it went out on five platforms, of course it was) if they had solid numbers to show how succesful a game was, you think if DAI had sold 10 million copies EA wouldn't be singing it from the rooftops, of course they would. Look at all the great headlines and column inches CDPR have generated by releasing their 6 million + in 6 weeks figure, that's only going to generate more sales.

If DAI sold 4 million at launch I'm the queen of bloody sheba. I'd be surprised if it had sold much more than 5 million copies to date. DAI didn't even debut at number 1 in any charts I remember and it had slipped well out of most top tens within a month, it was out of NDP sales top ten in December, in contrast ME3 was top in it's launch month.

DAI debuted at number 5 in the uk charts, the Witcher 3 at 1, yet I'm being told DAI sold more in a week than the Witcher 3 sold in two weeks, c'mon people, really?

Waits for the...It was mostly digital sales line to be trotted out.

To be somewhat on topic: I haven't played DAI yet. Most likely I never will. I ditched Bioware just before ME3, haven't bought/played a game that came from them since. Never regretted it, the company I loved (Baldur's gate, Torment, NWN) has been dead for years now. And as far as the things I previously got and sought from them go: CDPR has delivered them to me for years now and they show no signs of stopping. Customer loyalty. Cultivating that is the most important thing (IMO) that the present "bioware" can learn from CDPR and the Witcher. You provide, I buy. It's as simple as that.

Dumb as in no substance. Hardly any consequence to those handful of choices. I was really disappointed.

I did not play any of the former witcher series at all. After I was unbelievably bored with DAI after 1 and 1/2 game I went to ME, and I HATE shooter games. When I finished that I was fiddling my thumbs and did not want to play Witcher 3 because of the fixed protagonist. Saw my bf play it and the naabs on this thread made me want to play it. But the biggest culprit was watching YT on the Baron quest that pretty much kicked my arse. Glad I did. CDPR has scratched my rpg itch thoroughly after DAO.

I did not play any other games ( non mmo) but dragon age til April this yr :)

I support keeping the 'tang gang alive for Geralt. He has a taste for the witches!

Yeah, if you go underwater, you can actually see them transform from beautiful to ghastly.

Unfortunately, I play Skyrim on console. I keep saying I am going to get it for my PC, it should run it with minimal mods. I just never get around to it. Do you have to use KBM for Skyrim on PC or can you use a controller?

You can use a controller, there is even options for it in the menu. Vibration and such.

You can run Skyrim on a toaster, which is one of the reasons why it's so annoying on the PC - the 360 was the "lead development platform," so extensive beautification butts up against the memory limit in no time.

If you're not going to run it with a lot of visual stuff, then yeah, you should be good, and it's undoubtedly the best way to play the game. I use a wired 360 pad (same as for TW3).

The full version of a Night to Remember has been released!

They've also released 25 previously unavailable soundtracks.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I have been waiting for this one since the trailer released.

If it did so well, why haven't they post anything about it? It's fine to "gloat" when your game does so well in sales. You can see CDPR is proud of it, and they should be. All I ever read from Bioware was vague posts that it did well, but never nothing in concrete.

I remember reading something about 1.3 million in the first week I think, but beyond that...I haven't heard anything else.
