Not that means anything, but I'm almost certain that two hours ago this was a comment about how much fun it was to hang out with Triss and Zoltan in Novigrad.

It did!  ^_^  I realized that didn't have anything to do with comparing DA to the TW or how to make DA better lol. It is indeed fun to hang out with Triss and Zoltan in Novigrad, but in retrospect I should probably have made that into something more direct.

Now I realize that might of been kind too direct though. DA isn't exactly Hallmark hour or something, their games in general have shown a willingness to ignore conventional ideas and make friends with the dark side, and which has resonated with many people.

That said, since this is a comparison to TW3, there is a difference between them (especially right now) in.. emotional energy?.. something like that.

Probably caught him while he was drunk at the Passiflora.

Could be worse. Like wearing womens clothes when drunk.

So how long is Trespasser? While I had zero interest in the two previous dlc I'm a bit tempted to buy it. Though having paid 60€ for Metal Gear Solid and 25€ for the Witcher expansion recently I spent more money on games than planned. Hearts of Stone costs 8,50€ on gog.com and will have 10+ hours of content. How much content can I expect for the 15€ I would have to pay for the dragon age dlc?

Literally the only thing I care about at the moment is the Triss patch. I'm holding off on progressing the story too, and just poking around for witcher gear upgrades. Which I'm pretty much done doing, I think I only have 3 treasure hunts left and I'll have the upgrade paths unlocked for all of them.

On the other hand, I think I might need a break anyway, though.

I hope this expansion and the next give us some more Witcher gear.  I may not use it all, but I always make it all now that we got the storage.  :P

Welp, pre-ordered the expansion from the local retail store/company.

Apart from the online goodies, getting the Monster and Scoia'Tael deck as a bonus is nice I suppose.. but I'd prefer the Northern Realms. :P

I've heard it's possible to buy the cards separate.  Anyone know how or where to do that yet?  I'll probably buy the expansion digitally.

I wish they just start selling real Gwent cards. I've no doubt they would sell a lot. Even if only 2 out of the initial 6 mil that bought the game would buy them would be profitable.

They don't want our money, apparently.

I would love for them to make a digital version of Gwent, like Hearthstone.  I would play the crap out of that.

A lot of peeps said give or take 4 hrs.

I haven't picked it up yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was a bit of uncharitable hyperbole. Based on the last couple of DLCs, I'll believe it takes 4 hours if they're skipping through all the dialogue, passing on all the side content, and generally rushing through it simply so they have some sort of basis for complaining that it's so short. $10 says that I'll be able to similarly rush through the main content of "Hearts of Stone" in a lot less than 10+ hours... but I won't do that, because I'm not a turd. I'd rather take my time and enjoy what it has to offer.

I savored and more or less 100%'d JoH and Descent, and they each took me about 12 hours and 9 hours respectively. I obviously could be wrong, but I don't really expect Trespasser to be any different.

Though I do have to say that I enjoy the thought of said turds and haters sitting there thinking "I'll buy Bioware's new DLC and I'll beat it! That'll show them!"

Already have 7 hrs myself, and have seemingly skipped some side paths and items to avoid getting lost. And it even begins with a slew of Companion and Main Story cut-scenes.

it would be kinda cool to get a full set of high level viper gear, which I'm just guessing would be light based on Letho's kit. Are there any other schools apart from the five represented by the existing gear?

I don't know if the ones that said 4 hrs are haters. Never seen them in any bioware hate threads before. I don't understand this anyway. Just because people are disappointed does not mean they hate everything about it and just become haters.

Personally, I will buy this because this Trespasser because it seems like a quality content that I've been waiting from Bioware for a long time.

I guess some are just more op than others. Like for example people finishing 90% of tw3 in just 120 hrs, while I finished mine at 246 with probably only 60%. But I got to take it into account that Im new to the series and finding my way around everything was slow.
I finished JoH at 9hrs ish while some finished it at 4. I'm just really slow.

I don't think being disappointed makes you a hater. There are a dozen things I could name right now that disappointed me about DAI. And like I said, I might be wrong on Trespasser. I haven't played it yet. But this is in evidence with the previous DLC offerings. Nobody finished JoH or Descent in 4 hours without skipping most of the side stuff and probably fast forwarding through most of the dialogue and cinematics. All of which are taken into account when you're estimating the playtime, as well they should be. So if they're gonna come around saying they played it and beat it in 4 hours, and then complain about how short it is... I know from experience that they're painting an exceedingly inaccurate picture, and that they're just grandstanding (probably with some sort of trollish agenda.)

TW3 is a huge, content rich game, and man, I've been playing it a lot - don't know if my counter is bugged or not, but it's all I've been playing for a month now. I'm at 38% completion. I just did Battle of Kaer Morhen last night. I'm taking my time. But I think if I were gunning for it, I could do TW3, main storyline and all sidequests in around 50 hours flat, or less. Definitely less if I wasn't listening to every bit of dialogue as opposed to reading and skipping everything - or if I wasn't meandering and exploring on my way to each quest destination as opposed to beelining to the marker and ignoring everything on my way. Or if I wasn't paying attention to in-game books and codexes/character profiles. Etc and so forth. That would be a terrible way to play the game, but that's what some people are doing here - getting out precisely what they're putting in.

Main story only is listed there . 5 hrs.. I don't see how thats possible. 7 I think is more realistic.

This is a neat resource - I didn't even know about this site. It's nice to see that it fully supports my position though, right down to the average "completionist" run of 12 hours (which is right around my end time).

Interesting stats on TW3 - and obviously I admit that it's a damn big game, and my 50 hours for everything was probably inaccurate, though I didn't go back to revise - I'm happy to retract that here. That said - a rushed playthough of ><30 hours seems fair. And I think everyone here would probably agree that rushing through it like that would be doing the game a giant disservice. I don't see how the same logic doesn't extend to offerings from other developers.

It took me about 7 hours or so. It's a good dlc, much better than the two before it. Felt a little rushed in some areas and the fights were frustrating again with super deep health pools on enemies. I ran into a few bugs that aggravated me. The companion interactions didn't seem long enough, but that could just be me, knowing it's the last.

The scenery was quite lovely. There was a really nice amount of lore and quite a few surprises. If you're an elf, you're in for a treat, doubly so if you romanced Solas. It's really a well fitting story for an elf.

I'd rate it a 7.5/10

I will never rush any game I bought. I may skip all fetch quests in DAI because they are really boring, but I savour the rest of the story. Otherwise, you're missing out on a lot. As in what's the point of buying? Might as well YT the cutscenes.

On that note I'm very much into my completionist tw3 pt right now. Already managed to find new and very interesting quests like Meeting Letho by accident. I missed him last time. This time I ran into his toys while trying to get to a ? on the map.

I never rush through a game or skip cutscenes etc, but for some reason i always beat the games alot faster than my friends . My first time through DA:I with doing everything it only took 70 hours on Nightmare, i have a friend that spent well over 100 hours. So why is there such a difference?

Another thing they need to look at Witcher 3, or even Origins is the dynamic style of journal/codex entries.

In DAI, the codex is a mess. It's the only word for it.

It doesn't keep track of the things we do, it has meaningless tiles scattered all over, so searching for the specific entry is impossible.

The codex should have information such as who we made the emporer, how we handled our companions quests, how quests turned out.

Mess detected.

You can get the cards here : http://redeemgwent.com/

All you need to do is purchase the Expansion Pass in digital format.

I finished my DAI playthrough at 80 hours and I explored every corner of every map and did every single fetch quest that game had to offer so when people tell me DAI is a game that is worth 200+ hours I just ask them "how???". I didn't rush through anything, specially dialogue, and I even read most codex entries as well as did all the war table missions, so I get super confused how someone can take so long to finish this game. But that's just how it is. Some people like to take their sweet time and that's fine, each player has their own play style, so how many hours a game will take to finish is very subjective, therefore calling people "haters" just because they finished something faster than you is just.. not very nice, in my honest opinion.

I didn't buy JoH or Descent but I've seen the dialogues on youtube out of curiosity and it seems the storylines last for about one hour, give or take, so adding combat, exploration and side stuff to that, it doesn't seem that impossible to finish it in just a few hours. I don't know what that website means by "main story" but I'm pretty sure I haven't watched 5 hours worth of story on youtube. Trespasser, however, seems to be longer than the previous DLCs at least.

I used to be of the habit of rushing through my first playthrough with bare bones just to see the ending. I had no patience. Same with books, if they were particularly long, I'd peek at the last couple of chapters.

Now that I am a bit older, I have much more patience, but sometimes I will skip a few side-quests and save them for a subsequent playthrough. I think TW3 allowed one to do that beautifully and not feel as if you've missed anything while still allowing you to feel as if you've accomplished a lot.

A lot of people have stated that most of the fetch quests in DAI are optional, but when trying to get Influence for perks, it doesn't feel that way. Looking back over DAI, I can't say I really enjoyed many of the side-quests and that is a shame, but now I am rambling.

If your takeaway is that I regard anyone who doesn't fart around in Skyhold as much as I do a "hater" - I dunno, then. Certainly not the one I intended. The sort I'm talking about though are disingenuous at best, liars at worst. And they're seemingly doing it just to crap on the game... so, haters. I assure you, only a few names around here come to mind.

That said, you really can't judge them unless you've played them. JoH has plenty of quests and plenty of combat tied up in the main plot, and it's not all fetch quests. Youtubing it does not give an accurate picture. If someone said they beat it in three or four hours, they're not giving you the full story.

For me it can take a while if I leave the game running and go do something else like cook dinner or some other household chore. lol.
