I am a Trissmancer all the way. I will say that I didn't mind the romance with Yenn and thought it was pretty sweet, actually. She isn't as bad as I thought. Triss is and always will be my girl. It's the freckles.

I'm Team Yenn, actually. I really like it when women constantly give me a hard time.

I like a sassy woman, but I can't stand a mean mouthed one. Well, I am a heterosexual female, so I've never dated either kind of those women, but I like zero drama in my relationships and gender wouldn't change that. Give me a hard time and you will start steppin'.

Haha I don't mean the drama kind of hard time. I'm talking about the relentless criticism. Knowing how much Yenn really cares for Geralt, I could be misinterpreting, but I kinda take it as really dry teasing. Well, at least a portion of it, anyway.

Maybe I just have no patience with it lol. It isn't that I would want someone meek, as I would find that utterly boring, I just wouldn't want someone yapping at me.

Then again, Geralt needs a little yapping at times.

Have to admit that trailer did nothing for me. The music, and the dialogue was all pretty meh, underwhelming. Guess i am not that hyped or interested for it. I'll hold off on getting it until i see the reviews and such.

I was just having a conversation with a friend who basically said this same thing. I do think it is a more of a subtle trailer, but that is what I actually like about it.

I hope the reviews inspire you to play and for my own sake I hope it is amazing. I think it will be. It seems intriguing.

You already can and aside from the "dlc/expansion" crap-stirring from eurogamer, I've never ever seen a dlc that's got critics from the big ones to youtubers everywhere this hyped . You can even see an hour of gameplay on youtube if you want.

But, I guess if that trailer did nothing for you, no amount of good reviews will change that :) Here's hoping Blood and Wine will tickle your fancy, specially if you're like me who bought the seasons pass. That would be boring if you hate them both.

I just read where CDPR said the new patch 1.09 was now going to be called 1.10and some news on it may be released this week and it is going to be massive. So exciting!

Edit: Here is the link, if you should want to read it. It's quite small.

We'll see. I think the trailer reminded me to much of those cheesy Mass Effect trailers Bioware used to do. Using Two Steps from Hell as the soundtrack etc, it cheapens it abit. I will probably buy it, but not hyped, yet. Really enjoyed the DA:I trailers for the DLC, they suffered from horrible animations, but the music and the dialogue queued correctly and it built up as the trailer went along. I did enjoy the scene with Geralt and Shani dancing though.

I think The Witcher 3 is quite overhyped to be honest. Not saying it doesn't deserve its praise, but people treat it like its the messiah of videogames and RPG's, It doesn't do anything new compared to other games, it is just did what it did well and it is a polished game. But i won't get into that again. You guys heard me whine enough about it already.

Reviews and let's play videos might change my mind actually, often happens that i completely loathe a trailer or nothing it. But people turn me onto it sooner or later. There has been movies i didn't watch for 5 years because it had a lousy trailer, and then it turns out to be amazing. To be honest the only thing i want now is the Triss patch!

Every game would be overhyped to someone, unfortunately. For most, it seems it lived the hype specially looking at small independent reviewers on YT until now, many months after. I know it certainly does it for me coming in with no investment on it. Also for me it's the second coming of video games next to Origins :P I know Origins is vastly inferior to tw3, but I will be biased and declare it the same , because why the hell not? :P

True, but even though its inferior in quality of the technical stuff you can still love the heck out of it. The best RPG i have ever played besides Origins is Planescape Torment and its from 1999 or something. But after having played about 500 games in my life, and having a collection the same size, i have become cynical. Or i just know what i like and what i don't like. Who knows. Gonna start a new TW3 playthrough today, and really just get into it and analyze the crap out of it. We'll see how i like the game after that, sometimes i just need to take a harder look and i change my mind.

I'd highly recommend my approach, which is to never watch trailers period, as they are by their very nature deceptive. Over the past several years, this is a rule I've broken only for Dragon Age, and only then because my partner feels differently, and her enthusiasm is infectious.

For my part, for all its flaws, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a game as much as I enjoyed ME 1 before or since, so I know those feels.

Patches were mentioned for one game, and possibly the final patch for DAI appears for the GOTY Edition, and that is considered trolling. No; no prejudge mentality here....

Man, I thought better of myself and edited that post not two minutes after it went up. You are just watching this thread like a hawk, aren't you?

In any event, it was irrelevant to the topic at hand. I imagine League of Legends or Call of Duty was also patched this week.

Just got up, in fact, so again, assumptions are being made.

And I do not recall the thread being about any game other than TW3 and DAI; no elephants ears here....

Having finally played it, and remembering the extreme pedestal upon which certain noisy posters here on the BSN placed it, I think TW2 was massively overhyped. It had some very interesting points, and it was much better than the first game, but that's literally not an accomplishment. More like, I hang out with sumo wrestlers, so I look thin.

When you filter through the Bioware derangement syndrome (really speaking, there are only a couple of developers who make great games like this, and some people just really need something to hate), I think TW3 mostly deserves the hype. It's not a second coming, but everything about the gameplay and story is rock solid, and I can't think of a game that handles an open world as well or better, apart from a few Bethesda games, and TW3's is so much more detailed and massive in scope than they are that it really does come across as a triumph.

Subtle, yes, and only like two minutes long.  Hard to really get an idea of it from that, but I am still really excited about it.  I mean, it's more Witcher 3, I can't imagine it not being fun.  They put good quality into their free DLC quests, can't imagine them not doing even more for the paid expansion.

I think a lot of us who have been gaming since our younger days into our adult hood have become cynical in some form or fashion.  And by this time we certainly all know what we like and what we do not like.  I know I have certainly reached that stage.  I can be very cynical at times.  Especially when it comes to some of the more underhanded things the publishers like to do.  I hear the latest thing that Konami is doing, for instance, and rather than be surprised I shake my head in bafflement that other people are surprised.

Oh, and yes, Planescape Torment was one killer game.

The last few years have been worse than most, considering the nastier DLC practices (which, to their detriment, EA went all in on, and, to their credit, have since abandoned) that flourished through like, 2012. There are other reasons it's been tiring as well, but they aren't really worth going into. Suffice to say I imagine that a lot of decent gamers are jaded about various things at this point.

I will say that I don't think anything is ever gonna be as good as waking up before school to play Daggerfall when you're 13.

With me it used to be MUDs.  Didn't have much of a computer back then and that was about the best it could handle.  Still, I actually had a lot of fun with them.  I would sneak down early, boot it up, pull out the maps I was making to keep track of where I was.  I got meticulous with those things.   :P

I do miss that sense of child like wonder I used to get back then when playing a particularly great game for the first time.  I remember the feeling of awe I got when first playing Ocarina of Time, and how spooked I actually got when playing Resident Evil or Silent Hill, and how tense I would feel waiting for the next monster to attack me in Quake.  Oh and the first time I saw Resident Evil's warning about explicit violence and gore, I got giddy.  I have always been a zombie nut, and there is no such thing as a good zombie movie, or game, without good gore.

Ahh good times.   :)  It's not that I don't still get a sense of wonder at times in gaming, but just nothing quite compares to those feelings you get as a kid.

Most of my earliest memories involve being afraid. Peahats and Redeads in Ocarina scared the crap out of me. Silent hill scared the crap out of me. The graveyards in Daggerfall (and the ghost running around the titular city) scared the crap out of me. Even Diablo 1 creeped me out.

My affection for ME1 is due to many aspects of it, but in no small part to the fact that it's the last game I played that actually held onto that sense of wonder. I was 23 when I first played it, at release. Things I've played since are impressive, of course, but nowhere near as impressive - and I sort of doubt they'll be nostalgic in the same way, years down the road.

Cool on them for patching the DLC.

I remember the horrible (yet hilarious) glitches of Mass Effect 3: Omega
