With me it used to be MUDs. Didn't have much of a computer back then and that was about the best it could handle. Still, I actually had a lot of fun with them. I would sneak down early, boot it up, pull out the maps I was making to keep track of where I was. I got meticulous with those things. :P

I do miss that sense of child like wonder I used to get back then when playing a particularly great game for the first time. I remember the feeling of awe I got when first playing Ocarina of Time, and how spooked I actually got when playing Resident Evil or Silent Hill, and how tense I would feel waiting for the next monster to attack me in Quake. Oh and the first time I saw Resident Evil's warning about explicit violence and gore, I got giddy. I have always been a zombie nut, and there is no such thing as a good zombie movie, or game, without good gore.

Ahh good times. :) It's not that I don't still get a sense of wonder at times in gaming, but just nothing quite compares to those feelings you get as a kind.

I am a zombie nut too, even though it's all just cheese. I own every single Resident Evil game ever made, even the wretched ones. I can't help myself. I was lucky enough to still have most of my hearing back in those days and the ambient sounds of those earlier Resident Evil games were just creepy and amazing. It was the same with the Silent Hill series--just the sounds were enough to keep you ready to jump ship. Until Dawn is on my gaming "To do" list, I have heard it really has some good survival horror moments.

I have owned at one point in time most of the RE games.  First one I actually played was RE2, and from that day forth Leon has been my favorite character.  Man I hate the direction that series has taken.  RE6 was such a huge disappointment.  Which was a shame because it had such a really cool premise with the intermingled campaigns.  I totally agree though that the ambient sounds of the earlier games was fantastic.  I remember the magic mirror moment in 2.  I was completely expecting something to happen there, but even so, when it did, it still got me.  I just saw on GI's website that Capcom said that 7 is definitely happening, but I am not gonna be able to get myself excited about it this time.  Hopefully they take the success of the remastered version of RE1 into account when they are making it.

Early Silent Hill was fantastic as well.  That was another disappointment when freaking Konami canceled the new game.  Guillermo del Tormo and Norman Reedus, that was practically guaranteed to be a smash hit.

Oh yeah Until Dawn is absolutely one of the first games I plan on getting once I get my PS4.  I have heard a lot of good things about it.

Yeah. My type of game. I've got all the new Shadowrun games. Well the HBS ones anyway.

Apparently they're not even going to be talking about a release date until 2017. It was announced 4 or 5 years ago I think so it's going to have been in development for probably 6-8 years. Should be awesome.

Are there any hints at all as to what sort of game it's going to be yet? Calling it an "RPG" isn't too helpful, but that's all I've ever seen anywhere.

I'm guessing it's essentially going to be an action game, but it would be interesting to see what they'd come up with if it were party based.

It's most likely an action RPG. I'm not too invested on the action but on the rpg. And these guys CAN do rpg well, so that's probably what's going to make me buy it because I don't know what the heck is cyberpunk so I've no hype for it.

Changelog for the next Witcher patch is up:

"Improves balance for Death March difficulty." - Wish I knew exactly what they mean by this. LOL

As a genre label, the term is essentially meaningless, is all I was getting at. TW3 and Wasteland 2 are both RPGs, but the venn diagram there is essentially two distinct circles.

I think the game is actually based on the Cyberpunk license, which is an old tabletop RPG from the 80s. But it's also just a sci-fi subgenre, broadly speaking. Think Blade Runner.

Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith is on board for Cyberpunk 2077. It was said that his input mostly concerns the setting and game mechanics.

That's pretty cool, at any rate.

Newest info on 1.10 is "matter of days" - wish it was today, as I've got a four day weekend coming, but but alas. I just want to finish the story, Hearts of Stone can wait.

Hopefully it will scale abit better during the game. Worgs in the start of the game can 2 shot you, and then later at the last bosses you can just faceroll them. Need something in between during the whole game, but at the same time feel yourself getting more powerful with gear and talents. Balance is always hard for games like these. Anyway we'll see, hoping it will scale abit better atleast.

Thought I would ask here but does anybody have an end game save (PC)?

Level 35/36

Yen romanced

Ciri a witcher

Radavid dead

Preferable with a full set of cat gear and all the Gwent cards.

Lost my save games and I'm gutted.

Check the nexus, maybe. I was perusing the saves category last night and I think I might have seen something similar to what you're looking for. There are a bunch up there, though.

Did have a look but none seem to quite fit, thought I would ask around before resorting to as close as I can get.

Have you tried the CDProjekt Red forum? Just there have been a few people successfully asking for saves there. Sorry if you already asked over there... hope you find a save.

I haven't done but I will do, thanks for the suggestion both of you.

Considering just playing it again, I doubt I'll enjoy the expansions as much knowing I'm playing with somebody elses Geralt.

There are. Minor though, in the same scale that every review has, until the last bit of the review i guess. Might want to skip that part (last 4 sentences) if you're extra careful with spoiler material.

The review in a few words:

"The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone is at once a horror story, a romance, a character study, and a classic fairy tale. And somehow, these disparate parts mesh to form a cohesive whole."

9/10

Reviewers seem to say that the DLC takes around 15 hours, which for a 10 dollar price, is an excellent ratio.

Though I might have to skip it. I really hate horror and it seems the DLC is partially surfing on that vibe. A real shame because from all I've seen it really looks excellent.

They only played 2 hrs of the 10 that cdpr estimated, so I don't think they know how long the game rly is. Buuuuuut they said TW3 was only 100 hrs, and 130 hrs after..... most people are still in novigrad, so I think 10 hrs is very conservative on their part. And this is a very very story content heavy apparently and not so much fighting. There are no artificial paddings like Octopling enemies hp just to stretch things further even on NG+

I was actually referring to some reviews that completed the whole DLC =p

Thanks for the crib notes on the review. I don't want to spoil anything.

I am very excited about the horror part. I am a sucker for that sort of thing.

No one has completed it yet. The demo was only for 2 hrs.

Btw, I've seen a fair bit of lets play (and no doubt will kick myself for it later) and it does not look any more horror-like as the main game. It's actually very light hearted

No, Lawrence is right, Gamespot already played and reviewed the whole thing. Gave it a score (9) as well.
