TW1 typically has the most permutations for each outcome, so more varied C&C than the sequels. They pretty much nailed the chapter based formula right off the bat. Unfortunately, quest design is unorganized during certain sections and it gets laborious. Combat, flawed as it may be, still offers the most diverse RPG mechanics to play around with. And I still feel TW1 has the most epic feel without resorting to generic tropes.

I'm on the 'TW1 is a solid game' boat too. Sure it was rough, but there was a certain atmosphere and feel to it that was missing from TW2, but thankfully was back in TW3, somewhat. Act 4 in Murky Waters remains one of my favourite sections in the series.

Act 4 in Murky Waters remains one of my favourite sections in the series.
Act 4 is one of the four things I came up with when I tried and failed to find five things I liked about it.
The other three are the music, Triss' VA, and dice poker, because gwent can go die in a fire.

The only thing that really changes is whether Yaevin, Triss, or Siegfried is with you at certain points in the game. It's about as varied as Bioware at their very least ambitious. Maybe even less so.
Also, the main villain is literally Algernop Krieger from Archer.

A pretty interesting article about clothing in Witcher 3:

That's one of the things I noticed in the game, the clothes felt really divers and extremely well modeled.

CDPR has done some amazing work of in game armor and details in general since TW2.
Best comment for me
"Compare it to Inquisition, where people wear some truly weird looking stuff. Just look at that pic, leather and chainmail underneath...it's the other way around! What's the point of wearing cold, chaffing metal UNDER the leather which is meant to soften it?..."
Logic! Some developer really should carefully exam practicality in their "fantasy" design.

The only thing I don't understand is what happened to Gearlt's cape and hairband. Both should be add in next expansion!

Another good example how to bland cultural diversity and practicality into "fantasy" RPG. Detail is the key.

I've got no beef with DAI's design. I just wished there were more of them.
My current Mage has 25 sets, of which 5 are Tier 4 schematics. In addition, there are 10 arm and leggings schematics if permissible, as well as separate helm designs. Of course there are also additional sets of Medium and Heavy armors if wanting to craft for the other classes in the Party. Chose to make Cassandra such a set this time around for the increased challenges of the scaled DLC's.
Then with the Tinting station, I may select the coloration of choice. And if placed on an NPC, the appearance then may deviate towards that specific character's unique design patterns. Thus, all my current Mages wearing the same designs have separate appearances from each other; great for hand me downs in case of a lack of resources at the time.
And with the Golden Nug, it would seem that all of my characters now have the same access. This variety seems to be plenty, IMO.

Yay realism in fantasy games, just what i am looking for when i try to escape reality. I disagree on the armor designs beeing some of the best in games ever, Skyrim is way better, and just to add way way way better than TW3 and DA:I combined. I will admit to nice details and such though.

I like a lot of the casual looks in both games. Like Ciri's and Cass' casual outfits. I think even the Inquisitor's pajamas are cool, if you're human. ![]()
Kind of neutral on everything else, from what I've seen.

Believe I have similar access to appearances for armor and shields in Skyrim due to a mod. Chose to remove it and use the Vanilla designs instead due to a bug, repeated appearances for different bandits, and to limit mods in general. Also, Skyrim and Thedas are different locales from Earth, and I prefer greater fantastical diversity.

The witcher aesthetic (post TW1) remains killer. Except for the potbelly armors, which might be realistic, but are still stupid looking. DAI remains the first game in the series that actually managed to be attractive and cohesive. I think it's terrific, but I wish we had more too. They said we'd be able to craft every armor we encountered in tbe game, which obviously didn't happen.
I'd say some of the DA2 DLC armors are cool too.. which they brought back in DAI. Like Loghain's River Dane set... which is the traditional Ferelden soldier stuff (and King Alistair's armor). I think some Templars wear a variation of Malcolm Hawke's Fugitive gear. And Malcolm's Orlesian set shows up in DAI too.
You just can't wear any of it yourself. ![]()

I know, dammit.
Yeah, some stuff from DA2 was great (most of the really cool stuff was DLC I think). The warden armor in DA2 and DAI is still one of the most striking designs in anything. DAO was blandy bland.
I think that the armor in DAI, as a whole, looks good and also like it belongs in the same setting. The same cannot be said universally of the weapons, because there are still a lot of clown hammers and goof paddles in DAI. Which isn't a problem, necessarily - a lot of fantasy settings I enjoy have oversized weapons - but some of the stuff in TW2 and TW3 is just so sleek and lovely that I can't get over it.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of those weapons... and out of the classes available, 2h is my preference. Which happens to have the funniest looking weapons of the bunch. Tbh, I'd just be fine with various normal, greatswords.

Considering with SP, I spent about $12.50 on it and already have gotten my money's worth and still have tons more content to go...it really does put Inquisition's DLC to shame, imho. Also, this is just a small DLC compared to the next one--CDPR have outdone themselves once again.
And everything seems to be working properly now with patch 1.11, so yay for that.

So did I, but as usual, CDPR is on the job. So far it seems to have addressed all of my issues, especially the wolf gear one and the stutter issue I had with loading/rendering. I am a happy camper again.

Just found something interesting as well.
http://www.pcgamer.c...t-bigger-games/
"Now, especially, you hear so many people talking about how the triple-A games industry is there and nobody wants that experience anymore, and here you go—a nice, well-written single-player experience," he said. "There’s no multiplayer, there’s no microtransactions; you get a game, you play the game and enjoy the game, and it’s a great success."
CDPR is my kind of developer. Shut up and take my money!

No multi-player - a feature that many appear to enjoy - is seen as a benefit. Yep; no bias here....
Is it popular in DAI or something?

Not every damn game needs multiplayer though, least of all a plot heavy single player RPG. I'm the first to admit it was fun (though short lived) in ME3, but I'm quicker to admit that it's entirely unnecessary, and I'd do a happy dance if they kept it out of the next DA game.
Yes, I think no multiplayer is definitely a benefit, just on principle. Statements like that are refreshing, and it's precisely the sort of thing that I hope does rub off on other developers.
And lest you accuse me of bias, I've held this position since long before I stopped thinking the witcher was ridiculous.
Do you even play the MP in DAI, Elhanan? It's awful.
