Agreed; that someone believes and/ or buys into pre-Alpha material is rather sad....
Pre orders happened because of that trailer. And you just agreed that I and the disappointed gamers got conned.

Like this one for example. Yes, it's pre-alpha live demo but they talk specifically about game mechanics like "reactivity" and "consequence". They are obviously trying to sell the game that way, and I was sold. Sigh...
CDPR on the other hand, I did not see flapping their gums about the graphics. It was people's assumption that it was going to be finished product. But people waves the downgrade issue around like the sword of damned truth.
Right, BW talked endlessly about choices and consequences and none of that ever happened. It's not just that they showed alpha footage, but kept freaking bragging about mechanics they couldn't implement. And considering the fact that they abandoned old gen consoles due to the game being an unplayable hot mess anyway just shows how they don't bother to actually think before creating or showcasing their game.

No, but at least my perspective on humanity is based on actual launched material; not pre-Alpha speculation.
Yep, you're starting to make even less sense than usual Elhanan. Take a break buddy. Take a break.
The way DA:I changed is indeed a great shame, that video showed really fun mechanics that were sadly cut due to old gen limitations. Arg, I so wish they would've dumped them.
But I'm further upset by the Witcher 3 downgrades. The game was open for pre-order on November 5 2013 and this is what people thought the game would be:
even the E3 2014 build looked quite better:
CDPR never said "all right, this is the final build people", and the general consumer doesn't follow, like a lot of us here, gaming news so much so it's very easy for them to be mislead and CDPR should have clarified, no excuses. They only got a slap on the wrist though because....well the game was fantastic. The final build still looked very solid.
I'm not too upset over the visual downgrade, game still looks stunning and had they kept the original graphics, I doubt very many people could play it. It's also worth noting that all of footage shown was before the current gen consoles SDKs were released, guess CDPR put a little too much faith into consoles.
Edit: They were also pretty upfront about showing the slow decline in graphical fidelity, as shown by the released videos. So people who pre-order on two year old footage had only themselves to blame and was shown footage of the final version months before released.
Not conned at all. If one expects pre-Alpha material to be extant in the final launch, that is speculation; a gamble. And I also pre-ordered, and used that same vid to guide me into finding a rear entrance into Griffin Wing Keep and use abilities to demolish the bridge to remove archers. Not everything was removed.

If the game is such a hot mess, then Bioware saved the old gen console Players money and heart-ache.
Bias and prejudice do not equate to facts.
They would have saved them money and heartache by recognizing their limitations before releasing their product to the market.

lol! He can't take a break because EA would fire him.
Just wondering ... do you have a monster rig that you are more upset about a downgrade than big game changing game mechanics? I probably would be too if I bought a rig specifically for what I saw on the footage. The way DA:I changed is indeed a great shame, that video showed really fun mechanics that were sadly cut due to old gen limitations. I acknowledged that some changes would be necessary already, twice. But it doesn't matter because as I said, I'm just using it as an example in support of something else.Even if the books didn't exist, Geralt indirectly states females can't become Witchers, but let's say that they did exist, the games scenarios would be entirely different, unless they changed the sex of some characters.

Even so, I don't think that a female PC having a romantic history with one or more of the sorceresses or acting as a surrogate parent to Ciri (or once again, being a witcher) would stretch credibility.
What I'm getting at is that the current state of the world presented would conflict with the changes you've mentioned. Same-sex romance isn't something that is widely accepted in that world, so that's the entirety of the TW2 gone right there. The only way your ideas would work is if they changed how the world itself worked.

lol, not really. I can play the base game on Med-High on full HD. I never could've played that early build for sure, but that's not really why I'm jelly with CDPR on the matter. I'm jelly because I feel like they mislead people's expectations on the game visually. I also wish they had given the PC version the option to run the game at least like in the E3 trailer. It wasn't until the last few months before the launch that we saw the final build in trailers and even then, people thought it looked different because it was the console versions.
I'm a bit less upset regarding the Inquisition footage because it was clearly one pre-alpha conceptual build shown in 2013 to a closed room audience while the trailers later shown to the public throughout 2014 where more concrete on what the game eventually turned out to be. I just feel like the marketing of Inquisition was a bit more honest. Still sucks, because those where great features that would've made a better game. (also super upset we didn't get that Cullen lion helmet, that looked awesome).

Me: This could probably work if you made some changes.
You: Ok, but you'd have to make some changes.
I'm glad we're on the same page, apparently.
Edit, because I misread. In any case, there's at least one precedent, in Phillipa.

Also, not that it matter, but who said anything about marriage?
Changes that would entirely change the game for the worse, then yes. Also who said anything about marriage, because it wasn't me.

I know. I misread and edited to acknowledge as much, and also note that there's precedent with Phillipa and Cynthia at any rate.
At the end of the day though, whatever you're upset about isn't what I was proposing several posts up.

I'm not upset, just pointing out that some of those proposals just wouldn't work, even if the books did not exist. As for Phillipa and Cynthia, they were in a town filled with non-humans, so I doubt lesbaining was a problem for them there. Doing that under the roof of Royalty is a different matter, even Phillipa isn't open about being a lesbian.

They do. Have you seen footages of very high end pc on youtube? Some are very close even with yt compression.
I'd have to disagree. Even Ultra on PC, you can clearly see things don't look as good, especially the lightning.
Thanfully, some great modders were able to change the vanilla lightning to something very close to that E3 footage
I wouldn't call the graphical downgrade - situation with the Witcher lying though. All the content shown to potential buyers in the months before release was identical to what they got in the end.Trailers, screenshots, feature descriptions... you name it. In short, people saw what they would get and they got it. The Watchdogs downgrade on the other hand, if you want something to compare it to, was something very different. Ubisoft showed false footage up to the very last minute and it wasn't until people finally got their hands on the actual game that the truth came out and the material was revealed to be different from what they had been lead to believe. THAT I would call lying.

CDP invited about 15 youtuber's a few weeks before release and they could record the game for 1 day.
There was more than 12 hours of gameplay available 1 week before release. Nobody can claim that he didn't know how the game will look..
Tbh I was really surprised how well the commmunity reacted to the graphical downgrade. I was expecting people to downvote the game on metacritics because of it but the pc had a 9.2 userscore (which didn' change till now) a few days after release. This actually showed me that people can be reasonable and don't act like butthurt children because a company couldn't fullfill all of their promises.

I saw it as a sign that even with a downgrade, the game was so good people could live with it.

Well, from my experience that's not how it usually works. I fully expected the people, who were angry about the downgrade to give the game low ratings on the first day (before they even could find out if the rest of the game is actually good)
I remember the official forum a few days before release. It was a warzone with many people straighly insulting CDP and the moderators.
In the end it was only a very small minortiy. Probably just a handful of people creating new accounts.
I think CDP should have been more honest about it. The problem was that while she showed that there was a graphical downgrade, they didn't acknowledge it before release. But I believe they learned from it. There was an interview a few months ago, in which they sympathized with they way Bethesda announced Fallout 4. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't show any gameplay from Cyberpunk till a few months before release as a consequence of the whole Witcher 3 downgrade isssue.

It would have been better if old gen had been dropped earlier, but guess that trying to please more of those owners at that time was deemed as a good thing.
And the supposed "mess" was 2014 GOTY, so not everyone seems to agree with that opinion.
There is no other word to describe Inquisition on PS3 and Xbox 360 than as a mess. The game is graphically abysmal and framerate is border unplayable. No major game reviewer even bothered to review these versions. Inquisition certainly was 2014's Game of the Year (though that's not saying much looking at the competition) but it sure as hell wasn't based on the old gen versions.
Even Mr. Laidlaw said that it was because of the hardware limitations of these consoles that many features had to be cut, such as what we saw in that PAX demo.
