Like OMG, I totally failed a mission righhhhhhhhhht now and I feel so doooooooooooown. Ya know, like, it's totally that mission where you gotta find the Little Bleep and there's this dwarf trying to steal your job and you can like recruit your old buddy Vernon Roche instead to fill in the blanks and yeah, I feel so dowwwwwwwwwwn, girrrrrrrls. Totally don't want to go back to an earlier save file, like omg... who does that!?
PS: You're allowed to punch me for writing this post with a Valley Girl accent.

There are a few quests that hit you like that in TW3... I thought I was doing the right thing in a quest and I ended up
Spoiler
Don't get me started on the bad ending, I sat there stunned thinking omg what have I done.... LOL I love it, I missed having a game where decisions actually made a difference like that, such a shame DAI failed in that respect ...

FWIW, early rumbling suggests that they nail this aspect in FO4.

God, I can taste it.

I may give it a try sometime, I have never played a Fallout game so no idea what they're like, I always thought they were more first person shooter type games or rather relied heavily on shooting things and I suck at that. Takes me too long to aim by the time I've aimed I'm dead LOL.

The first two games are isometric RPGs like Baldur's Gate. The latter two (and FO4) are kinda sorta fake shooters (basically, they're like The Elder Scrolls with actual guns). There's a gameplay mode called "VATS" which is based on action points and essentially lets you play them real-time w/ pause. It lets you stop time and target specific body parts/armor parts on enemies with the degree of success being based on your skills. You can suck at shooters and still succeed there in my experience.

FO4 apparently does a much better job at the shootier parts, but VATS is still there.

I give up! Can't place the dwarf stealing your job. Which quest is that?

It's "The Gangs of Novigrad". The dwarf being Cleaver trying to get Junior before you do. The quest fails if you go to the casino and the arena by yourself.

Ah ha. I failed that one too.

Yeah, I wouldn't stress failing some quests, Teddie. I think some of them might even be designed to fail (as in "choose to proceed one way, the alternate path fails"). Just don't overthink it or second guess yourself.

The only things you really need to worry about are a few specific choices that will impact the ending, if you're gunning for a specific one. Not actually a spoiler under the spoiler tag.

I always fail that quest because I can't stand Cleaver so yeah he shouldn't worry about it unless he's a completionist.  I like that the game gives the player a bit of freedom about how they're going to do certain quests.  At this point I don't even talk to anyone at the casino or arena. I just walk in throwing bombs and killing everyone. lol!!

I ended up stuck there, with the door locked behind me and gwent as my only peaceful way of progressing.

I just started swinging. Gwent is the worst.

I always liked Gwent, but i don't think it would work as anything else than a mini-game for TW3. It has the same problem as the gameplay actually. At the start of the game matches are brutal, hard to win, you have to think. And then you get like 5 hero cards and the fun is gone. I will say this though, its the only mini-game i ever spent any time on and did all the quest related stuff aswell. Wonder if they could rebalance it abit and release it like a standalone card game along the lines with HS.

Finally managed to get time to beat HoS. Fantastic expansion.

Spoiler

The Dark Souls-esque fights were also a nice addition, and that Caretaker design was hella creepy.

Both Mirror Master and Olgierd were great characters, and the latter is probably among my favorite fictional characters now.

Only thing that was kinda weird was...

Spoiler

Can't wait for the next expansion. Got high hopes for it after this one. And, since the land's all nice and peaceful, maybe we'll even be able to resolve all of our confrontations with gwent.

I don't know about FO4 yet. If they learned anything NV though, it'll be an RPG.

DAI didn't even do a good job at emulating that style of open world, if that's what they were going for. I'm not sure they were. It's more like an MMO. It has little of the emergent gameplay of TES/GTA.

I suppose but I'd be more confident if Obsidian actually just made F4.

Anyway F4 doesn't seem like serious competition or TW3 or MGS5 artistically, sales wise that stuff is practically randomly generated at this point. I think you have to create a new market which encompasses the kind of video game movie experience where your sales can anywhere from 1 to 20 million+ and an actual video game sales market where your max is more like 5 mil or 10 mil (If you are Nintendo or Ubisoft perhaps)

MGS5 really I say that having played 1-2-3 a lot 4 just once... 5 just seemed so tired, actually, 4 felt so tired, , not really like the MGS spirit overall.

I think it could work as a full fledged game you can play against other people.  It would need some tweaks of course, and more cards, and more card abilities, but it could be doable.

For me if they just added a ton of cards and had some tweaks and turns maybe a mini game thingy, not Hearthstone level. A lot of the illustrations on the cards in particular were very pretty and cool, just as a collecting thing could be motivating for people.

You could imagine something similar for a DA card game or something (based on a Canadian Quebecian... something? Maybe? I don't know lol...) Cassandra with her seeker art and whatnot.

I actually had quite a good time playing Skyrim and both Fallout games on console thank you very much.   :P

   And you will have a better time on PC --

Budget PC ~$450 which should be slightly better than the one shown in the video.

http://www.geforce.c...-pc-build-guide

Sure it is like $100 more but Steam/GOG sale will make up for that in no time.  :wizard:

Lets! I love the good old 30 vs 60 fps discussion. Just kidding by the way. Aslong as people can play games and they enjoy it doesn't really matter what format. Finally got my Fallout 4 on! Loving it so far, wuuuu.

This is my favourite Metacritic user review of Fallout 4 - Only rating it 0 because people on /v/ told me so. I have honestly never ever played the game but I'm rating it that way so the game maybe won't win the GOTY award, which it will anyway, but a man can dream.

The game has a userscore of 5.9 on Metacritics, but all the negative reviews are just trolling by people who don't want it to win Goty or wish it was Obsidian that made Fallout. I can understand them not wanting to like it, but what do they gain from beeing so negative all the time.
