I will say this though. One thing that both Fallout 4 and TW3 did very well was the building of the world. Attention to detail in both games astound me. I have never seen so many small details brought to life on screen. Bioware has some catching up to do here for their next game.

Very much agree with this. One of my favourite things in Fallout 4 is coming across scenes that tell a little story, like corpses that are placed in such a way that it allows people to deduce what happened without the game telling you anything.

Not the Trespasser main story, but things like companion story lines and decisions made during their personal quests not being concluded until Trespasser. They told us nothing about what our Companions were doing after Cory was defeated during the ending. Trespasser took place 2 years after that, they could have told us something then have those story lines continue during Trespasser.
These filler storylines were mentioned in letters found in Trespasser, around the Winter Palace estate, I believe.

I sure hope Cockle wins. Would show a finger to those who ridiculed how emotionless a character Geralt is. The animations and his voice made Geralt one of the most emotional characters in gaming that I've encountered, one of the rare few games that can make an adult man cry.

True enough, but that doesn't mean much coming from me. I pretty much cry all the time. Very emotional and fragile unfornately, some traits you get from your parents and you just don't want them. I would add the guy that played John Marston to that list though, just WOW. When you have a great script, great animations and really get the right voice for the part then its just magic.

TW3 is my GOTY for sure, especially comes to its quest design and overall quality/details in both open world and RPG play. FO4 is great but not TW3 level awesome.

Speaking of which, I envy you XB1/360 owners - you get to play Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Cant wait for it to come to PC - stunning visuals, superb animation and Lara moani... I mean groaning in pain. ![]()

Yeah I pre ordered DAI and played about a month and got bored. Then bought the ME seried and played them to death til I bought TW3 in june. And still playing it now cuz none of the other releases caught my eye except Halo 5 but I don't own an Xbox. I would buy FO4 but I am more into very heavy story driven RPGs and after 5 hrs of trying it out on a friend's account ( because he has huuuge problrms running it on his 980), it is just not for me. I might get pillars of eternity when I get bored with TW3 ( im still far from it) but theres a lot of reading there.
So yeah the only new release i bought this yr was TW3.

huge problem running FO4 on 980? That is odd, I play on it on both my 970 and 960 (notebook) and I dont seem to be having issues... but I am usually lucky and rarely have issues .
Yeah, if you like a tight story, I can understand why you wont like FO4 or TES games. I usually dont follow the main story when playing Bethesda games - that is why ppl play Bethesda games right?
To do whatever you please and not give a darn about the story and still have a good time.
My goal in FO4 is to build a skyscraper in Sanctuary and jump down with my Power Armor like Titanfall. Too bad I cant pain the Power Armor or I will make it look like WH40K space marine and do orbital drops
It will be epic... once I find enough wood and steel... Grrr....

I've gone back to trying out Elder Scrolls Online and it's a different experience for me. Not only are the areas bigger (MUCH MORE) but it's a challenge to spec your character from the start. I loved the story-driven concept of Dragon Age: Inquisition but it didn't have as much flexibility. The magic system is still better but I love testing out ESO's magic trees. But I'm appreciating ESO too because it shares some contemporary ideas with Inquisition.
Let's face it. Witcher 3 is so visually vanilla. I'd rather explore Morrowind, Stros M'Kai, and Dragon Age's desert regions than traverse through Witcher 3.

When you say 'vanilla', do you mean you'd rather explore fantasy environments ?
If so, I can definitely understand that. See, what I personally prefer from Witcher's environment is the level of authenticity it plunges you. It's a very different style from The Elder Scroll's series and to some extent Dragon Age. Witcher really tries to emulate a central Medieval European setting for Velen/Novigrad and the medieval Scandinavian countries for Skellige, and it does it wonderfully. I personally love that, but I can completely understand someone would vastly prefer something different.

It could definitely use a whole lot more environment variety, but vanilla is one of the last words I'd go with - it's one of the most visually striking games I've ever seen (to the point where it's the sole reason I even sought the game out in the first place). YMMV, I guess. Novigrad and Oxenfurt are lovely.
Dragon Age has at least one too many desert zones, but it's pretty paralyzingly beautiful as well.

Somewhere around the 9 hour mark, it clicked, and now I'm all in.
20 someodd hours later... but yeah. Just took me a minute to get centered, I guess. Though not to sound like a snob, but as someone who's pretty familiar with Boston, I think that some of my hopes for the game's interpretation might have been a tad unrealistic.

I actually liked ESO too for the single player story content. Pity endgame content was non-existent. Playing sorc was fun but if we are comparing same fantasy setting mmo, playing a magic user in WoW is much more satisfying. In a single player setting, DAO's tactical combat remains my favorite.
I don't know what you mean by vanilla, but yes TW3 has very organic and believable and breath taking invironment compared to ESO's high fantasy setting. Which is also nice in it's own way but a little duller. I liked the elf tree dwellings though.

I am guessing you have a thing for desert or more desert like environment ![]()
Graphics in the Witcher 3 is "vanilla" if you mean to say realistic.
To me, the main difference between TW3's graphics and the rest of the games (at least I dont know of another) is that in most beautiful games, looking at its screenshot is like looking at a painting. When you play the game, your experience would be one that is travelling in a painting. Tis an awesome and lively painting but still a painting.
Looking at TW3's screenshot is like looking at a photo; playing the game is like traveling to the location of that photo (minus the smell thank god - that would be too lively to bare), the environment simply springs to life. The real thing is better than the photo. ![]()

Just found 2 pretty good reviews for both TW series
and Fallout 4
I'm love almost all points he made and really don't think FO4 has a chance against TW3 in the GOTY competition. The detail and story design in TW3 truelly sets new standards for open-world RPG.

I honestly haven't done much story stuff at all, because of the way I play. I'm at 20something hours, and I only just got to the location of the second major story quest,
I've spent most of the time stalking around the map with my dog, exploring. Level 7 me found a literal town full of Deathclaws, for example (lol Natick).
