Compared to TW3 or even New Vegas, this lousy option is really laughable.
To be fair they use a different dialogue system. .... ... but
Fallout 4 however set a new bar in the "worst ever most frustrating dialogue system" department and it is a freaking objective fact. Yes, I have played 61 hours of Fallout 4 and I am this frustrated with it. In my reality, anyone who dares to defend this piece of utter rubbish system is a fanboy.
They combined ME style dialogue system with DAI's free camera dialogue system and they managed to take the worst of it combined it into an utter piece of !#@#$@@@!.
The stupid dialogue option is no only very limited, its options are worded even more "sensible" than the infamous accidentally romancing Anders dialogue option in DA2 - yeah! I cant imagine I can live long enough to see someone beat that but Bethesda sure raised the bar or pathetically worded dialogue options to new heights.
Then there is the freaking pathetic free camera option that is implemented in the most freaking abysmal way conceivable by humans. You have to actually be at certain specific distance when talking to companions. Close enough and you can chat with them, if they move, you get the issue command prompt.
Problem is, those NPC are not responsive, they still move or repeat the same lame lousy voice acted "I will stop complaining when there is nothing to complain" line for the 50th trillion time ignoring my click when I just want to bring up the trade dialogue option to give her a freaking gun!
Also when I want to issue a "Move to" command, the stupid companion often move next to me and get me stuck in a dialogue option!!!
I can see the potential of this system and this system could be nice IF it was developed and tested by a studio that cares and pay attention to details.
p/s: Oh yeah, and I was so frustrated by an NPC, I shot her - entire settlement turned against me. I freaking killed her and .... she freaking came back to life and continue to attack me. I slaughter entire towns in Morrowind and they never come back to life! Really!?
