This is how Geralt will end up if TW3 was produced by Bethesda....

*facepalm*

That sudden shriek sure woke me up...  :D  :D  :D

Lol. That's atrocious. God forbid if other devs does this, they'd be crusified. But not bethesda.. never bethesda.

Naa i think meta scores were just trolling because for what I've seen it certainly is not a 0. People are sad sometimes.

I reckon 6-7 is a pretty fair assessment for the quality of FO4 .

Pretty true.

I know for a fact that if Shepard or the Inquisitor have a sudden change of voice like this one, we will be carrying pitchforks and torches to Bioware.

I'd give FO4 a 7.5 - 8 score as a game. Meaning I would recommend it to people who like this kind of games. It is definitely worth the purchase if it is on sale and it may get better when there are enough quality mods.

Yes, the mechanics are sometimes frustrating, unrefined, sloppy but it is still a lot of fun. I actually was amused by what I suspect to be a reuse of voice asset from somewhere else... Sheogorath is that you buddy?

It is a good filler game that I can sink a lot of time into while waiting for other games like Rise of Tomb Raider, Blood & Wine, Mass Effect Andromeda and Cyberpunk 2077.

Wow I did not know pre EA BioWare helped CDPR a lot with getting on their feet. Good read.

Actually the first Witcher game used the Bioware Engine Aurora, i think the name is. It was the one they used for Neverwinter Nights.

True, but it is the lowest score any Bethesda game has ever had. So atleast they will get that. I knew this would happen with the dialogue wheel and change to skills/perks though. People are easily butthurt. Also have to take into consideration that this game sold about 10 million copies on launch, which is 10 million opinions. It also was the most played game on Steam, over games like DOTA and CS GO. You just don't do that as a Single Player game, yet this did. To much hype, waaaaay to much hype. People ruined it for themself by hyping.

I think a low user score on MC will generally indicate one of two things:

1) a genuinely bad game, or

2) a popular game

As ever, my constantly reinforced position is that some gamers get a worrying amount joy out of cheerio pissing. I looked over a bunch of the sub-2 scores and the reasoning behind a good number of those is lacking, to put it politely.

The closest thing to sincere were a couple of people lamenting the fact that it's no longer a circa 1998 isometric RPG series. Which... if you don't like the genre or the gameplay mechanics, and you're not going to engage the game on its actual merits, why are you reviewing it in the first place?

Oh, right. I remember why.

Even though i agree with a few of the things he says, i really do not care. I haven't had so much fun playing a game since, well since Skyrim. I just get drawn into the world and i forget the concept of time, and the need to eat/drink and sleep. Its not really healthy, but it is the best review i can give for the game. Played 90 hours since release now and i just keep going.

And really, this is how it should be. Reviews are a great baseline, but at the end of the day, all that matters is your own opinion.

That is why I believe Gamefly is a good investment if you play a lot of games. My subscription has paid for itself with all the money I saved on games I thought I'd like because the reviews were good, but I ended up disliking them.

Would that I could on PC. I end up just being very selective in purchasing what interests me (in the past year, the only new games I've picked up are DAI, TW3, and Fallout).

It's something that I'm considering if we end up snagging a PS4 in a couple of weeks though.

I like Gamefly as well, cheaper than buying games and most of the time they're pretty quick with sending games out and getting the ones you sent back.

I would definitely recommend it. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for the newer titles, but the wait isn't horribly long. Also, they have the "Keep" system, which is where you can keep the game they send you and you get a pretty good discount on it. Gamefly Dollars are good, too. They also carry indie games like The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead, IIRC.

There are some games that aren't really worth multiple playthroughs, yet are pretty fun one-shots--I think that's what really saves money for me.

Is it available over seas? I am in Norway and we rarely get the good stuff here.

I am horribly allergic to cats. My lips swell up around five times the normal size. Needless to say that I dislike them. My dog doesn't shed-no dander, no allergy. Not hard to see which I prefer!

Oh I prefer dogs, I desperately want a husky, but my cat deserves to be happy and comfortable, so I wait.

About your number two reason, Jim Sterling recently did a video about this sort of thing.  About how silly it is that some people get so upset when people like a game that they hate.  In fact, their vitriol for this seems to be even worse than when you bash a game that they do like.  He was speaking on it from the point of view of a reviewer, but it can be true for anyone.  Speak out in defense of a game that people are hating on and prepare to be raked over the coals.

I tried Gamefly once, but I almost never got the games that were at the top of my list that I really wanted to play.  Frustrated the crap out of me until I finally gave up on it.

Gonna have to check that out.

I actually do like a lot of Jim Sterling's stuff quite a bit, and I was reminded of that when you mentioned him the other day. I just lost track of him when he stopped writing for The Escapist.

Truth be told, I also have very little patience for YouTube content, so that may have contributed to it. Seems like every damn thing is a YouTube video from walkthroughs to reviews to friggin' talent guides, and I hate it, because I'd rather read it. The written word is a dying art.

I don't know, I've lost a lot of respect for Jim's reviews during this past year. I think part of the reason people have issues when he likes / dislikes games is that he seems to arbitrarily hold them up to different standards. You can't be considered reliable if you do that, and that's not a good thing when you're supposed to be a professional reviewer. If a game is, say,  criticized heavily for being repetitive (Mad Max for example), then other games that are also repetitive (MGSV) should be criticized for it as well even if the reviewer likes them more. That's where the professionalism comes in. It's no wonder that some people would get upset if he bashes a game that they like for something and then praises another one that has the same flaws without giving a reason why. Or even mentioning that fact (that it has the same flaws). His reviews have given me too many of those wtf moments this year. I'm not saying that the issue mentioned isn't real, you can see it on almost every review site, but in Jim's case I do think it's partly self - inflicted.

I recommend playing the Sera friendship scene with the male american voice and hear the inquisitor say 'why are we yelling' and then say that again :P

In that case he has no business pulling out a lot of random names from metacritic who gave  FO4 0 and trying to name and shame them in his blog, because they did not like the game he likes ( he gave FO4 top points). He is no better than  those guys.
