This kinda makes me want to throw up. Everything wrong with TW3, right here.
Well almost everything.

I'd really like to accept that challenge, but one of my resultions was not to pick on misguided minorities.

Excuse me, but I really couldn't find a picture without Ciri.
At least it doesn't have Triss in it. ![]()

Happy New Year all.
Finally bought and play The Witcher Enhanced Edition because Steam sale and I think I can understand better why some dont like Triss... to me her relationship with Geralt is...
For those who love TW2 and TW3 and havent tried TW1, I highly recommend it. After experiencing TW1, I feel that CDPR has TW3 in mind when they were making TW1 and TW1 ultimately evolved into TW3 - both story and game mechanics (small improvement overtime can go a long way). I see evidence of TW3 being the game they have wanted to make since the beginning and they never faltered despite some hard time along the way - kudos CDPR for their resolution.
TW1 has quite a few issues - random unresponsiveness, clunky movement, technical issues here and there, pacing etc. However it is still a solid experience for any Witcher fan. How good do I think it is? Well, I was playing FO4 and didnt think that any game can pull me away from the addiction of collecting garbage and building settlements... until I tried TW1 for its infamous combat. 3 hours into the game... I am hooked. 300 hours of juvenile conversation/plots/story that is FO4 has finally taken its toll. TW1 won me over with it is deep, dark and believable world settings that slaughtered the alternative easily. Gonna start a complete trilogy play though after this ![]()
Steam Sale is not over - go get it if you are a fan of TW3! Experience the TW1 the prequel and I promise you it is not Star Wars prequel ![]()
Finally back on topic: Dragon Age stands to learn from TW trilogy is the sense of continuity. Mass Effect Trilogy does this very well too so Bioware has nothing to learn from CDPR but the Dragon Age team stands to learn a lot from TW and ME in this department because each DA installment feels like a different game that is as related to one another by vague lore and cameos.
TW trilogy hinted that the developers had a plan and a vision when they started out and kept pushing on despite the most difficult times. Bioware... simply improvise along the way... I sort of prefer the former...

The only problem with TW1 is CDPR got the color for yenna. What a rookie mistake.
P.S. Charlie Murphy would be perfect for yenna in any TV drama or movies for TW series.

TW1 is amazing
I was hooked the first time I started playing. Love the dark and gritty atmosphere (that DAO have) and the heavy themes they have no problem addressing in a realistic way and within the context of the world the game is based on. Not trying to be tame because it might offend some people.
I actually prefer TW1 over TW2 (awesome in its own way).

Yeah, I could see her as Yenna, though she would need to swap out a little of that doey eyed sweetness for some harder edges.

I hope you're playing with Polish Vos. So much more professional than the English. Also Flashes mod is a worthwhile overhaul for the combat and has 3 difficulty settings.

It is amazing on so many levels! I too now prefer TW1 over TW2 (too much politics). The writing is awesome!

Bought on steam and I dont have the Polish VO
At least there is no option to select language but the VO are generally pretty good even by today's (2016) standard largely due to the well written dialogue. Unlike so many lame dialogues that plagues games nowadays :/
Example:
Nope, wasnt aware that there was a mod until I read your post. Read about the mod although I am not a huge fan of increasing HP as part of any difficulty design - it is simply a bad design. I prefer high risk high return combat: meaning I can kill them with a few well planned strikes and they can kill me instantly if I made a mistake. May give it a try my next run ![]()
As it is, I feel that the combat of TW1 is very similar to TW3. Position yourself well, wait or create opening with signs and then go in for swift kills. Controls and movements are of course not as smooth as TW3 but the design and concepts are the same. I cant help but feel that the developers stayed true to their original vision for and improved it over 7 years!!
Well I suppose if you like ladies that will lead ya around with a leash and collar, sure, why not!
#TeamTriss
I'd take the leash and collar over being lied to, violated during a supposed medical check up and being forced/manipulated as a political tool.
I cant look at Triss the same way now that I'd experience her in TW1... ![]()

I was planning on using Flash's mod on my upcoming playthrough, but looking at the comment section of the mod everyone says to avoid. It's supposedly stupidly hard and a complete headache to uninstall, so I have some pretty big doubts about using it. For now, I'll just stick with RotWW and a couple of bug fixes and maybe use a mod to replace some of the sword models.

If you read through the notes, you will notice that basically difficulty is scaled by:
1. Increasing HP of enemies up to 600% on Insanity
2. Making enemies more resistant to disables; stun, knockdown etc while lowering Geralt's critical effect chances. (double jeopardy is bad.)
3. Making enemies more accurate.
Basically that means that I have to repeat the chain attacks and move around more - although in theory running around with power up Quen that reduce attacked hp by 25% should work beautifully in this mod - unless they change that too.
I doubt it is "stupidly" hard... just dragging combat unnecessarily.
@ashwind. That's weird because the EE of both TW1 and TW2 have language packs included. You should be able to choose both subtitles and voice over language in the menu. If they're not there, you should ask on the Steam forums where to DL, As for RotWW, could not get that bugger installed for some reason. Maybe it was clashing with Flash's mod. I do want to try it out.

The last kingdom. A pretty enjoyable TV series of Viking and Saxon etc.
