I've no idea how reliable the info is, but according to http://gotypicks.blogspot.com/, The Witcher 3 has won 160 GOTY awards. Seems like everyone and their dogs are giving out GOTY awards.

Not worth it. Alot of people here really enjoy the game and they think it deserves all the praise, so i'll let it be.

@ashwind. That's weird because the EE of both TW1 and TW2 have language packs included. You should be able to choose both subtitles and voice over language in the menu. If they're not there, you should ask on the Steam forums where to DL,  As for RotWW, could not get that bugger installed for some reason. Maybe it was clashing with Flash's mod. I do want to try it out.

I checked the steam forums. Looks like for those of us who bought on steam, the game will always revert to your steam language. There is a config file hack and registry hack but the comments indicate that we will have to always change it whenever we launch the game as it get overridden. :(

Giving out GOTY award is not something exclusive to Americans it seems :P

So if we take into account awards from all media globally, 160 is not that many.

DAI won 134 GOTY awards worldwide too according to that site.

The Last of Us won a total of 249!! Seems like everyone and their dogs and their cats are giving out GOTY in 2013 :P

Neither, there's only one person worth fighting and dying for.

Spoiler

I would've liked to put a picture of Eskel here, but the damn thing kept freaking out.

You can get a GOG copy of the game, just redeem the CD-key on the site.

Yeah.. it's why I only pay attention to a few. Like dev/peer awards and fan based ones. For obvious reasons.

Sooo. You don't personaly think it deserved all the praise it's getting? I mean even if we take off critics choice, the reader's votes are landslides. You can't attribute that to having bigger fan base as well. FO and MSG and MARIO sold  more than 12 mil in one day. That's more than half of what TW3 sold in 2 months.

2015 votes is not at all there yet. There's a lot more to come like IGN ( us) critic/reader's choice and gamespot readers choice  etc. I have a feeling its going to tie or surpass skyrim.

I dont know...

Maybe but one must not forget Skyrim did not face as many competition back then. Back in 2011/2012, Skyrim is no doubt the best overall open world sandbox rpg. Even though many (myself included) shouted dumb-down / streamlined - overall there was nothing out there that could compare. Skyrim is basically Fallout 4 with lower resolution texture and lesser lighting effects. It was impressive as hell back then.

2015 on the other hand, games are going open world on epic scales. TW3, FO4 and MGSV the major contenders will all win some critics and fans over and hence the vote maybe diluted.

While there might be competition for GOTY of 2015, I dont think I have heard any objection to CDPR being the Best Developer/Studio of 2015.

Also, Konami also annihilate its competition for the Worst Company 2015 and I think none will object to that too.

2015 was a great year for gamers and gaming. I hope the industry will have more "CDPR" and less "Konami" in the future.

No i do not, because personally after having beaten the game twice i don't see what the others of you are seeing. It's a decent Action-RPG, but its not groundbreaking, it didn't set a new standard in storytelling, or gameplay, or exploration etc. Its just a well polished overhyped and overrated game, in my eyes. But you know what? That's ok. I am not required to like the game for you to like it. And i am clearly in the minority, i just don't find the game that interesting.

I will say this though, most Witcher 3 fanboys made 2015 a very rotten gaming year on Facebook, forums etc. Not talking about anyone here, but out there. I have never seen so many people overzealous about something and shooting others down because they do not share their opinion on something. Eurogamer named Bloodborne their game of the year and the comment section was littered with The Witcher 3 propaganda, and people trying to shame Eurogamer for their pick.

This might not make sense at all, but its my take on The Witcher 3 and all the praise it has been getting. I feel like i made a mistake by posting this, but its probably the last thing i'll say on the game and run off to the Andromeda forums now.

With a small EDIT you could read my post as this - Does it matter to you what i think about the praise this game has been given? You obviously love the game and that is all that matters, and i envy you.

Betheda shot their feet in FO4. The dumb down open world shooter has pissed off majority of hard core Fallout RPG fans while shooter crowd already have too many choices. The success of TW3 really highlights the market for an epic fantasy RPG. Hopefully it will inspire other creative developers like Obsidian in future.

What choices are those? Not many FPS out this year except Halo 5 which is a Xbox One Exclusive. The success of TW3 highlights hype culture and the media feeding that culture. And it can't inspire Bethesda and Bioware for their next games, because they are not creative enough?

Firstly, pure shooter fans does not really play Fallout 4... at least the COD/BF4/CS fans that I know of does not. Do you know how many people would have died in 300 hours? Tens of thousands literally as good players would have a KPM of >1    Simply put, time spent on leveling and listening to NPC is a waste of efficiency.

I wont go as far as to say that Bethesda pissed off the "majority" of hardcore fans... disappointed is more accurate I think. I think many of us are disappointed and sour because they ignore our feedback and complains about Skyrim and basically migrated our complains into Fallout 4 - hoping the mod community will fix it for them again no doubt.

I personally blame the fanboy for the state of Fallout 4. They blindly defended Skyrim and Bethesda against any criticism; although I suppose the same can be said about fanboys of any game/company. Fanboys simply cannot distinguish what is objective truth and what is personal opinion/feelings. Sad.

(Yeah, I freaking got 1 patch for FO4 thus far and the only noticeable impact is that it freaking break MOD support and I have to re-enable mod every time I start the game. !@#$%^&*)

Obsidian is a funny developer... I mean NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer is one of my favorite RPG. I wonder why are they so .... under funded.

I don't consider Witcher 3 to be groundbreaking but it deserves all the praise that it's getting for just one simple thing. Aside from graphics the game delievered everything what was hyped up for.

Inquisition received most GOTY awards in 2014. Why? Because it barely had any contest when it came to triple A titles, meanwhile W3 went up against Fallout and MGS, both franchises that are more than decades old before Witcher franchise found it's way into gaming world.

Fallout 4 screwed up by getting turned into sandbox action-fps adventure with friggin Minecraft building and removing every single RPG aspect and MGS should have never went open world in the first place, it's what brought the game down for me in the first place.
