What's interesting is that, yes it was hyped, but it actually delivered. Contrary to certain games like DAI.

NO HORSE ARMOR DLC!!!!!

Delivered what? A finished product? The game YOU wanted? Well in terms of what it set out to do it did quite well. Both in sales and critic, the fanbase seems to be split on it though, but that already started back with Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3.

Never, it was just that bad, lol. ![]()

To be clear, both TW3 and FO4 were launched w/o the ability to re-map control keys. CDPR fixed that quickly, but still remains a questionable design choice.
As for DAI, it has delivered for many just like TW3. It also has detractors just like TW3.
Lackluster keybindings and gamepad button bindings is a problem that goes beyond TW3 and FO4. Many modern games are guilty of this. (I try very hard not to blame any particular platform... )
DICE does an excellent job with Frostbite as it has one of the best keybinding options - DAI inherited that and the lack the option to customize gamepads (I never try BF with gamepad but I am guessing it is common to all Frostbite games). Very annoying tbh.
However I do not think that this is a design choice. Keybiding problems especially in TW3 and FO4 is that the game and the UI do not share the same input scheme. For example, I change my Activate key to 'F', it works when I am interacting with the game but the Default 'E' is still used in menus. I read that TW3 is using a middle ware for their UI and that could be the reason why it was launch as such. FO4 inherited this from Skyrim, something I personally complained a lot back then - make up your mind darn it - either ESC -OR- Tab to 'Go Back' and not both tis darn annoying to need to remember which 'Go Back / Exit' key to press all the time.
CDPR fixing that quickly made me even madder at Bethesda. Can those busta ahole get any lazier. 3-4 years and you gimme the same !#@$%! Took them a patch in FO4 to partially fix the problem I described above and they still didnt include that fix in building mode. Grrrrr
I'm angry as hell they fixed it. I can't use my numpad for favorites anymore. That was so convenient I could keep moving while switching weapons but now *sigh* They should've at least gave us the option to leave it the same.

LOL! (that is why I said partially fixed)
Well... the effects of designing a game with (roughly, I am just counting quickly in my head)16 buttons and 2 sticks in mind... sadly that is the future of any game I foresee. At least until the day the Master Race rules video games again ![]()
Well there's the RedKit...
One of the biggest let downs from those guys and they won't even hint as to why they changed their stance on modding tools. I Still hope that after they deliver the next expansion they'll work on that.

XD
Hopefully once G.E.C.K comes out I can get a mod to go to the original version.
But yeah I have a feeling we'll be waiting a long time for the master race retaking the crown ![]()

Its not final yet though not by far. It's 170 now.

And the DICE Award is now in the nomination stage, I believe.
I got a feeling that would go to MSG. But then again I had a feeling vga was going to go FO4. Now I got a feeling that My feelings needs new antenna.
Last year has been one of the best for video games that I can remember, And one of the best things about it is that Bethesda finally got its ass kicked by a competitor. Been waiting for that for years. Monopolies and lack of competition are bad for (almost) everyone. Regardless of what you personally think about GOTY awards it is still funny how quickly people went from pre-goty "Fallout 4 is a guaranteed game of the year" to post-goty "game of the year awards do not matter". On the other hand it's been a rough year to be a Witcher fan in several gaming forums. First you get spit on with arguments like that the year isn't over yet and that greater games are still coming, "just you wait for MGS V or Fallout 4 to release", and now it seems like things are only getting worse. Still, been a fan since 2008 and even ditched Bioware for CDPR so I consider it all a long term investment.
Yeah, I finally finished my first playthrough the other day. Initially I was enjoying it quite a bit. But the more the game wore on, the more I was thinking to myself, holy crap didn't I just do this same mission like five minutes ago? And I am not speaking of the sorts of missions where say the Brotherhood of Steel sends you to clear a place out. I am speaking on the majority of the main side missions and main story missions. There were a few that I liked, Silver Shroud and Covenant, but most of them just felt really repetitive. And the RPG elements of the game were seriously bare bones. I have never played the original 2 games, but the way fans of those games say that the RPG elements were stripped down between 2 and 3, I feel they were just as stripped between 3 and 4. I really didn't get to make more than a couple choices throughout the game it felt like and they were not very interesting choices.
Story I felt was pretty weak, which is a shame because there was potential for a really good story there I feel, because it had a pretty neat twist. It was one that I sorta saw coming because of the nature of cryogenics, but a good twist all the same. The ending was a real disappointment. I went with the Railroad, and then I saw my friend who went with the Institute finish it, and the endings really didn't seem all that different to me.
Even she was disappointed in the game and she is a whole lot less picky than I am.
I couldn't really get into the settlement building to be honest because I didn't feel that there was enough variety there to keep me engaged in building things. There is only like one type of wall that I liked, and after building several houses with it it started to look dull. They could have at least let us paint the houses or something. It's a cool idea, there's just not enough there for me personally. Not after having played games like Minecraft and even Terraria. Now, I am not expecting that level of building of course, but more than what there was would have been nice. I tried, I really tried to get into the settlement building, I just couldn't do it. Maybe in DLC we will get more options.
Ehh, I'll get around to another playthrough, but probably only to clean up a couple of trophies, and I might very well wait for the first DLC for that. All in all, I wish I had waited until this game came down in price to around $30-$40.
Try New Vegas. It is the closest game to 1 and 2 regarding RPG elements and story telling. BTW, the minute man stuff in FO4 really drives me nuts.

Just look at the very beginning of this thread, mockery and sarcasm overflowed. Then TW3's quality speaks for itself. Karma is a thing.

Karma? The thread is just a few select people talking about gaming, and almost nothing related to feedback at how The Witcher 3 could inspire Bioware to be better. It hasn't had any of that for a 100 or 200 pages. Its the new off-topic, this and a few other threads.

Good. Maybe they will see this and consider making a good game in the future. Which I don't think they will; the talented people in BioWare left some time ago and all that's left are EAdrones.

Yes! Because you know the company by heart, and everyone that worked there and how they function in that envoirment. Which begs the question if you don't like Bioware games why are you on their forums?

Here is a ramble by Gopher; may grant some insight to those that are interested on this topic:
I feel him. I really do. My take on this is that different teams are working on the game. UI is coded by a separate team sometimes using middle wares and these team dont communicate that much. Common, we have to face it, keybindings and such PC relics are not a priority to many developers ![]()
Things could get worst you know. Imagine when tablet gaming takes over...
The inputs will be utterly %$#@ ![]()
ps: For games that dont allow modding - there is also autohotkey.
