Yep, and ogres are a thing in ME if we go by Kasumi's DLC. Easter eggs are coo.' The problems start when they decide that lyrium is eezo or establish Thedas as being on the garden world at the end of ME3. That's when I bust out the matches.

I shouldn't give them ideas.

Yeah...don't....please....

That one quest you mentioned is the same one that I often use to describe my feelings with DA:I's side content.  It really sums it up rather well.

I cant really recall that one in detail but... Is that even a quest? Tis just a loot spot right?  :D Get key go loot?

I believe there are 2 type of writing style. One is that the writer is writing a story for us to experience and the other the writer is writing -HIS/HER- own story and telling that story or rather forcing that story down our faces. The first form of writing makes great games, the second makes for a disconnected game at best if not down right frustrating. The second form of writing is more suitable for books.

In TW series, particularly in TW2. I feel that my hands are tied because the characters have very different motive and they want to use Geralt/Us to help them accomplish their goals. They will bait Geralt by telling him that by helping them accomplish their interest, Geralt will also fulfill his. I know that they dont want to help me, they want to use me -but- I can use them back by helping them just enough to advance my own agenda.

In DAI... the feeling of my hands being tied is there as well. Except this time I am not fighting against characters in the game. I am fighting against the writer himself.

Truth be told, I am happy that Gaider is no longer the lead writer of DA and I hope the next writer will bring more of DAO's writing style back. If Gaider is so intense on telling his story, I wish he would just write books. Good book writers dont make good game writers.

Patrick Weekes is not going to be better.

Or so I say. I haven't been much of a fan.

Like, say, Hespith, and the deep roads? And that haunting poem? Because that was all Jen Hepler, and she was driven out. More generally, DG was the Lead Writer on DA:O, and I'm pretty sure heavily involved in the critical path.

George Lucas made Star Wars and George Lucas destroyed Star Wars.

Yes, I am aware that David Gaider was the lead writer for DA:O but that does not mean he is still great. The atmosphere, the dark believable and deadly politics are  all but gone.

DA:O started the story and it was a great start. It is like great shows and movies that started out great only to crumbled soon after because the writer did not have a plan or a path and improvises along the way.

Think of Gaider as George Lucas. He had his moment, now he needs to go before he ultimately create a Jar Jar Binks.

On DM when I got to the middle of the game it became so easy. The only challenge was in HoS. I got my ass kicked a few times.

Olgierd, right? Because I went back and decided to see what happens when you confront him near the beginning, and goddamn he is tough.

That boss fight was pretty epic though. Probably the best one in the game. I really felt throughout the whole thing that Geralt and Olgierd are pretty much 100% equals in swordsmanship, and either one of them could have come out on top really. I like a good one-on-one boss fight. :S

I do believe that David Gaider was a game writer before he was a book writer. In fact he was the lead writer on DAO. So the writing sytle of DAO has his hand print all over it. Also Jen Hepler was one of the other writers along with Mary Kirby and others. Jen was taken to task by this very forum for something she said that was basically quite innocent. So basically some of the so-called fans on this forum contributed to Jen leaving. She would probably have replaced Gaider.

And yet Weekes gives us winners like Iron Bull and elf Twilight. Whatever you think of Gaider, it isn't some vast improvement.

Besides that, he gets credit for Jack, when he didn't originally write her. Brian Kindregan did, and then left. Weekes apparently hated the job and joked that people should kill her. Not the best commitment from a writer imo. lol. And he's also just full of ****. He used to talk like any other male at something awful and now he acts full-on SJW about things. Those types are the worst. They remind me of people who quit smoking and then get all uppity about it.. as if they never smoked before. :P

Hepler was going to take over after him apparently. Until the shitheads who apparently are fans threatened her and her family. lol? :( I would have liked her around. She did a lot of Cass, did Legacy, a lot of dwarven stuff, etc.. I think Legacy is their best dlc personally.

As i remember it she got alot of fan hate for Dragon Age II, also some controversial statement that she wish skipping gameplay was an option for people just interested in the story. Which i don't have a problem with aslong as it doesn't mean less effort is put into gameplay. And for that she got death threats and feared for her life. Fanbase!

Yeah, it's not the best thing to hear from someone involved in games, but it never affected her writing at least. And the response was crazy.

Atleast not when you are making RPG's which is known for complex gameplay mechanics etc. Still as i said i do not mind if it was a feature in some games, but there are already games that filled this quota so.

Yeah; hard to be motivated to do things for fans that seem so petty and cruel.

Well i would say that its just the Internet and the developers have to get used to it, but it is not that easy. Because if you had a crappy day, just one comment or one threat can be the tipping point for someone. So i get it, but it is unfortunate as she was very talented.

Did someone actually report my profanity here? lol..I got warned. Is this something people actually aspire to be? It's like being some tattle tale in 3rd grade. Don't even think I'm the one that needs to grow up. ;)

As I recall, those were the days with constant assault of the Devs's; not simply a bad day. I was a bit surprised the forums were not closed then like the OT removal recently. Plus there were death threats to her family. Who needs that?

Developers have thick skins but some actions just cross way over the line. When it comes down to threatening life and family that line has been crossed. No one has to put up with that. I give Bioware/EA credit because the company backed her 100 percent. I believe that after all the attacks the motivation to do anything for this fanbase expired. So she left, which is unfortunate because her writing was excellent.

To be honest, I don't see DA series have a clear trajectory of its story arc to begin with. DA2 feels like a last minute brainstorm story elements to fit in "awesome button" game play while DAI's story is all about expanding open world. TW3 delivers a much more cohesive story through the trilogy.
