I figured as much. I've never played the rogue class nor controlled my archers (cause I rarely brought them along), the class never grabbed my attention.  Mages seem to carry the most RP potential so I've been more attached to them since DA2.   If BW ever decided to give me a Mage Archer (That I've wanted for a long time), that would be great.

Speaking of Magick Archers, Dragons Dogma is coming out on PC in a few days. I hope it'll be moddable. :)

Ah yeah it's pretty fun for me. Mages are...eh. The rp potential is there but I like archer gameplay so much I tweaked my characters to be archers. Felt okay to me.

Lol mage archer would be ridcu.

Oh god that's gonna be so fun :D

I've only ever played the demo back on 360, and it seemed good, if not a little dense and overly "Capcom-y" for my tastes. I'm intrigued, though, especially if it has some sort of co-op on PC.

I wish more games had open skill systems to let you create weird, functional hybrids. It was like, the sole redeeming factor of Amalur for me.

Updated a naf post to a more current one. It is a percentage to the number of votes which was interesting.

Currently Witcher 3 has won 59% (rounded up from 59.13%)of all the goty awards counted.
In 2014, Dragon age won 33 % of all the goty awards counted.
In 2013, The last of us won 48 % of all the goty awards counted.
In 2012, The walking dead won 19 % of all the goty awards counted.
In 2011, Skyrim won 56 % of all the goty awards counted. (Lol poor Witcher 2 has just 3 votes)

Number of votes seem to go up and down drastically each year.

:/ warriors in DAI r as mobile. Roll, rush & parry. :D can even parry a dragon's kick.

Mages r simply painful to play & watch.

I've tried 3 times to start a new character in DAI but when I get to the Hinterlands and I catch a glimpse at the beggining of all the fetch quests/walking in dead silence/collectibles that are all around in this game I lose interest completely

I would honestly love to give Inquisition a second playthrough.

Do some different choices and all. I always find it really useful to fully judge something to re experience it. Knowing the events and the structure of a narrative really helps better organizing the playthrough and, to me, often offers the best way to approach a game.

Hopefully I won't be plagued by the bloody banter bug next time.

A bit? Archer is the most mobile class in the game next to DWR. It's one of the reasons I love archer in DAI. High mobility and a good amount of damage to go with it. Mages are kind of meh in Inquisition.

High mobility and damage yes, but ultimately I found archers fairly dull to play, simply because they don't get all that many abilities in DA:I.  I tried an archer once, I managed to get to Skyhold before I got really bored with it.

The only two classes I found at all fun to play in DA:I are two handed warrior and dagger rogue.

I just wish my damn backlog weren't so gross. I'm playing Fallout right now, want to play DAI again, want to play TW3 again, want to pick up Tomb Raider, bought the Metro Redux games on sale, etc and so forth.

I feel you there.  I am playing several different things right now.  I'm playing Bloodborne now and again.  I can't just focus on nothing but that game because if I try to do that, I am going to break my controllers and possibly throw a chair through a window or something.  I have to take that game in small increments.  It's a lot of fun to play, but it is soooo frustrating for someone who is not very good at it, like me.

Am also playing The Handsome Collection.  Partly because I still enjoy it when I find decent people to play with, but mostly because I want the trophies again.  Also just recently finished the Nathan Drake collection, but am still working on the rest of the trophies there.  Will eventually play FO4 again.  Need to finish Tales from the Borderlands and the first season of The Walking Dead so that I can play the second season of it that I grabbed from the Playstation Plus free game bonus.  So...yeah...backlogs, lol.

There's an 8 ability slot limit. So that really applies for every class. Also if you only got to Skyhold you didn't even unlock the specialization (which is where it becomes lol mode).

Oh god 2hd warrior is terrible for me. Cumbersome and everything it does another class/spec does better.

Somewhat agree with the limit of Abilities, as Archers only have four abilities plus upgrades. Trespasser added a second upgrade for every Skill & Spell, but it would have been nice to have more slots and more abilities.

However, a Mage has access to eight Spells at one time, plus can have more that are not active due to slot limits. This leaves a much better range of possibilities, combos, tactical options, etc.

Yeah, there is the 8 slot limit, but other classes still have way more options than archer.  I am referring to archer specific abilities though, so specializations would not have added much for me.

With the dragon rager specialization for 2 handed warrior I slaughtered everything.  Cumbersome yes I will admit, but fun for me.  I know that's not the proper name for the specialization, but I can't remember it.  :P

I didn't really feel so. But I only used 3 of the main archer abilities (longshot, leaping shot, long draw). Everything else was rogue or specialization. Also archer had plenty of options it's just how you picked the rogue skills.

Eww that spec? Bleh.

There wasn't even enough archer specific abilities to fill up the eight slots from what I recall, or maybe just enough to, which really doesn't give options.  And when I say that I mean abilities that specifically have you using your bow.  There just wasn't enough for me.  Like almost every other rogue ability that was more general were more fun to use with two daggers.

Those sound appealing to me... until I realized that the dps'er is centered around crit and axes. Screw that. Axes are ghetto. :P

There's 4 unique archer abilities (excluding passives (which work for DWR and vice versa) and upgrades. Also filling your slot with just archer attacks is a good way to have a crappy archer. Honestly you have plenty of options it's just not archer exclusive options. (For one I had my assassin go mostly into the poisoner tree. Meanwhile my artificer goes with the enhancing traps (and the upgrade to caltrops was beaut!).) It's not a lack of choice at all. As for the animations working better with DWR that's a difference in opinion. I enjoyed the control and range of my archer far more than my DWR.

Also if you wanted to constantly use the bow attacks artificer is what you wanted. Leaping shot + Opportunity knocks = spam.

Seriously though. It's a bummer.. Especially since the build is basically reduced to one axe option. I don't enjoy it when builds revolve around items (apparently it's because you can boost axe stats with extra cloth on the pommel or haft).

But yeah, swords are sexy.

Not to mention Champion is the one spec that's fairly mundane and at least tries to play up the martial strengths of a warrior. And they expect it to depend on massive amounts of Cunning? Really? While the other two specs are too retarded for my tastes. Crack addict or cartoony cannibal bullshit. Great.

See that's why I like playing rogue. I don't need to use anything other than my elemental mine spam and it's steamroll time. (Even works against bosses though that's more of a gamble since I have to go within close range to use the mines. And the game is odd about whether they're gonna trigger them or not. Granted I can leaping shot right out of the way but still. OH GOD that dragon in trespasser. Everyone was dead/dying (I had Cole and um...Vivienne had conked out [I didn't have her heal available D:] and my archer had to pretty much kill her while Bull played distraction pincushion for those spear throwing Qunari He died but the dragon died right after that so yay.) It was beaut tho explosions everywhere.

This is why I've switched my mind to that. Rogues still revolve around (mostly) martial talent. Or at least moreso. But I haven't played since launch. If I do play again, I know what to do.

edit: Oh wait.. you're making another point.

But mine still stands. :)

XD It's fine. But yes join the archer master race! We have traps and cookies <3 (But yeah I haven't freed that dragon yet in Trespasser I was going to once but that dragon spewed acid on my rogue. I pretty much went "o rly?" and owned that b**** right afterwards.I was mad. :P

I tried to play a 2hd warrior I didn't get out of the hinterlands. Just wasn't fun =/ And I wanted to make a templar too. *sigh*

I don't know about archer specifically. Where I differ from you is I wouldn't want to rely on just a few skills. I'd probably get (literally) tired of that. I heard dagger rogues are pretty interactive, so that sounds like my thing.

Ah true. My fun with the archer is the mines (uses up all my stamina but I usually get it back once someone trips on one) and from there it's leaping shot spam, mine spam, caltrops, leaping shot, long shot, (quick draw is usually restricted for wraiths and stuff I need stunned), otherwise it's MINES, leaping shot MINES, leaping shot.

My only issue with dagger rogues is the hitboxes. Especially on animals. It's so finicky to backstab yeesh. But when it clicks it just utterly wrecks.

Oh DW assassin is excellent. I played Assassin archer and it works but it's not as fun (thought it does feel more archery (if that makes any sense :P). I refuse to play Tempest though. Nope.

(Also I hate how you can't get a preview of the specs other than using companions. It's bleh.)
