I'm excited for the vineyard, but mostly I want to see people. As good as HoS was, it would have been nice if Triss/Yenn were involved somehow as well, especially considering that Shani was really poorly handled if you didn't want to romance her (you either miss out on a bunch of content or come across as bipolar when you reject her). The leaked info says that it's likely that they will visit you on the vineyard, so that sounds good. Hopefully Ciri and Lambert/Eskel and others might, too.

Running around in the post-game, it's really disappointing that you can't go see Triss, Yenn, or Ciri (or a lot of characters). I don't need dialogue necessarily, but I'd like to be able to go see them all the same. It's nice that Zoltan is still hanging around, but otherwise, it's just Keira, inexplicably hanging out by herself on a barely accessible cliff at Kaer Morhen. Given that this is by all accounts the last hurrah, I hope they get some attention, even with all the new characters and cameos they'll likely include.

I think it would be really neat for Lambert and Keira to pop up just to see how that relationship is working out.  As well as Priscilla, see if she gets her voice back at all.  And Letho, and Eskel, some of the Lodge sorceresses and...yeah, I would love to see just about everyone, lol.

I'm kind of agree with him actually. Great character with well-defined backstory is much more important for storytelling than created one.

Dragon age is a world that needs a player created hero while  The Witcher is a world that does not need a hero just a character with a well defined backstory.

And. there is an example of really pretentious and disgusting "pre-view".

Seriously, Polygon really needs to pull their heads out of their rears. As a liberal, LGBT-friendly progressive fellow, I'm simply exhausted by this point of the constant scolding thinkpieces and self-indulgent lectures about utter non-issues that too many of my political contemporaries churn out, day after day. How joyless must their existences be if all they see, no matter the context, are things to be offended by? Yes, it is a bit of a shame that there isn't a lot of racial diversity in Wild Hunt, but between the excellent storytelling, the fantastic quest design, the engaging combat and the incredible characters, I never really noticed all that much, nor does it detract from the overall quality. Representation is an important thing, but it's not the only important thing. It doesn't solely define artistic worth, and if that notion's problematic, then well... what the hell isn't these days?

Anywho, getting back to Blood and Wine, I'm super-hyped for it. CDPR has quickly become one of those developers I'm willing to trust sight unseen, and everything I have seen about this expansion has made it all the more encouraging. A living, engaging setting! Cool monsters for you to fight! A mystery you need to solve! A world that you actually want to explore! It's all looking great, and I'll definitely have to pick it up after my vacation.

This stretch of content from TW1 up to B&W has to be one of the impressive CRPG history for sure... I can only think of a few legacies that are as potent, perhaps like TES and others, but the vast majority they've beaten to the point as far as I'm concerned.

So, thinking about this scene

Spoiler

I mean I think we were talking about it earlier in the thread, but yeah... just amazing.

I have to say I may take back what I said before... I think CDPR has may have just beat the entirety of Bioware canon all the way back to Baldur's Gate even..... not that we shouldn't all learn to appreciate all kinds of things, of course.

I got to say the OST was pretty amazing as well

Seriously, i got the Witcheress ending and going from incredibly happy and relieved to soul-crushed when i found Kaer Morhen to be completely empty was one of the few (very few) disappointing moments in the game

Personally, i just want(/need) to see some more Geralt and Ciri being awesome together

Ahh yes, Colin Campbell, lord of smug. This is the same guy that said he'd rather talk about politics than play video games in a preview he wrote for the latest Rock Band. Anything he has to say about gaming is less than worthless. It's obvious Polygon are just virtue signalling at this point anyway.

Screw it the entire OST is amazing not just pieces

Ok you know to be more topical... I was thinking about TW3 really amped up towards the end acts whereas the consensus on DA games tends to be that they flail and falter.

I think in general actually the closer you get to an end of TW games the more they tend to impress, whereas DA goes in the opposite direction. I actually have trouble remembering exactly what happened at the end of Origins, for instance.

Baldur's Gate 2 had a fairly epic ending I guess... that was a..... long time ago.

Have to disagree with you about the ending levels of Origins, that was a really awesome and memorable climax to the game, and something that Bioware's come nowhere close to replicating in the sequels. The fact that the Archdemon was actually challenging didn't hurt matters either.

Great news for all book readers

Spoiler

I haven't read any of the books so this isn't good news to me. CDPR is at their finest when writing their own original characters and their weakest when trying to adapt characters from the book into the games.

Disagree, except they did really terrible job in Triss. Regis is my favourite vampire and Geralt's old pal. Expecting tons of fan services between Regis and Geralt.

It would seem that that some TW3 fans would disagree, as the conclusion to the game is held as a weakness. And while some do not prefer the DA series, it is doubtful that many would forget the conclusions of DAO (ie; Archdemon and royal celebration), DA2 (ie; Meredith and the start of the Templar vs Mage war), and DAI (ie; Cory, Flemeth, and the Dread Wolf; plus Trespasser).

Still have yet to play the BG series; may have to rectify that soon.

Deciding whether on not to go and do the ToB as well. Probably will.

CDPR screws up when they start adapting villains (Eredin) or turning established characters into bad guys like Radovid and Djikstra.

Aside from those, they handled most book characters pretty well, especially Geralt himself.

I thought Triss was pretty good.  Yennefer was well done as well.  So was Djisktra, who was one of my favorite characters in TW3.  Zoltan and Dandelion weren't bad.  So not all characters they take from the books are badly done.  Though Eridin and Roche were both rather disappointing.

They did screw up with Triss though, at least in the third game. Totally killed her arc. Dandelion as well was a lost opportunity. He never shines in the games and in the books he's brilliant. While I'm glad Regis is in the expansion, I'm not holding my breath.

I kinda wish there was more on Fringilla in the game...

I think I got tired of Phillipa and Yennefer a bit really... plus Margarita you hardly see and Sile of course, ahem.

I kind of wish there was a game that just explored Nilfgaard more in general.

Fringilla is love, Fringilla is live!

If my Geralt could not visit her library, I would be very pissed.
