I'm very curious how the just announced remaster of Skyrim is going to impact this. I'm also curious why Beth didn't just go ahead and announce a remaster of Morrowind as opposed to five year old Skyrim.

Not that I'm necessarily complaining - although I'm a little irritated considering I have toiled long and hard to mod my game to perfection, and I'm not sure whether most or all of the old mods will work with this new one.

However, I am excited at the prospect of not bumping up against the damn 4gb ceiling and having to resort to voodoo trickery to run everything stably (stable-ish?). And owners of the PC version will be getting it for free. Snap.

I heard that Legendary versions may get a free upgrade, but not all; unconfirmed. But I have no need for this version anyway, as my modded game was as beautiful as desired, and all the quests seem to remain the same. What disappoints me is that after 5 yrs, was rather hoping for a new game; not a re-run.

As for SkyWind, as they are using their own models, this new version should not harm the mod though it will likely need testing.

Beth tweeted it out. Legendary editions or owners of the base game plus all DLC on Steam will get a free upgrade. Announced the same on their Facebook page as well.

I'm disappointed about the lack of a new game too, but I wouldn't speak too soon. A 64bit program with a DX upgrade promises to run much, much better on a modern system. It will likely be a much better experience if you choose to return. I always thought it was funny not funny that my computer could trivialize games like DAI or TW3 on all or mostly ultra settings, but choked on a modded Skyrim.

Speaking personally, Skyrim + alternate start/RP mods has offered the most gameplay bang for my buck in the last two generations, and I'm psyched.

I loved Skyrim; have 3100+ hrs overall. But the last time I tried to play, most it had already been seen before, and found myself nodding off at the KB&M. So I chose to remove the 100+ mods for SkyWind, and see what will happen at that time.

And I am no Techie, but the fixes made for gameplay that I installed apparently worked very well.

Even I am disappointed about not having a new TES game. Skyrim was a huge success for Bethesda. Don't see any reason why they wouldn't go for a new one.

They are going to make a new Elder Scrolls, it is probably in production as we speak. What they are not going to do however is announcing it a mere year after they did Fallout 4. It will be atleast 2 more years before we see it. Skyrim remaster makes sense as the Fallout 4 development actually started with Bethesda porting Skyrim to the Xbox One, it is already worked on. Also mods on console.

They're working on one. I imagine it'll come next year - the timing is right, but I would understand that they don't want to release a new installment of their flagship IP right on the heels of Fallout 4.

This is the very definition of a cash grab, but in the best possible sense. Skyrim is one game that notably suffered for the length of the last console generation. The limitations of the 7th gen consoles not only harmed that experience (PS3 could barely run it at all), it crippled the PC version.

Not only will this hopefully do a great game the justice it deserves and didn't really receive on its initial release, it's probably also a very inexpensive undertaking. And gifting it to PC players is an act of calculated goodwill that would do CDPR proud. Not only are they placating what's probably the most loyal and ravenous portion of their playerbase, they're ensuring that new mods (which remember can still only be created on PC) will trickle down to consoles, which will now support them in this version.

Guards do that. Sure it was a bandit?

Yeah, pretty sure, It was a bandit camp in the middle of the boondocks with no guards in sight...weird, thanks for the reply, though. I didn't even know that could happen with guards anyway.

I thoroughly looted and plundered all ?s specially in Skellige. They give plenty of things to sell.

I guess I need to be less picky. I always looted and sold things but I was always careful not to get over encumbered, my patience would just wane and I'd drop my stuff.

Maybe they'll patch it out of the main game entirely and replace it with dice poker.

Here's to hoping, at any rate.

I'm gonna have to get a bigger hard drive for my PS4.  :P

Holy crap do I ever have a reason to be interested in Fallout 4 again.  This new contraptions DLC they're coming out with sound really cool.  And we can build our own freaking Vaults.  And run experiments on our Vault dwellers.  Tell me that almost everyone who has ever played these games have not imagined the kinds of things they would do if ever given that opportunity.  I know I have.  *rubs hands with maniacal glee*

The new Skyrim remaster looks really lovely.  And giving us mod support, that will be awesome to.  That game still has my favorite ever musical intro to a game.

What I think has me most excited though from what I have heard about E3 though, is the footage I saw of Dishonored 2.  It's really looking good.

The released a teaser thing. Not much gameplay, but it's looking good all the same. Lots of people are yelling about it on the MEA forum.

There was a new Gwent game though, so CDRP had something. Mass Effect Andromeda was a 2 minute teaser, and an interview with creative director Mac Walters. I'll see if i can find the interview, it was quite good.

meh, the skyrim remaster worries me on how it might affect years worth of mods and it doesn't look much better than my modded skyrim anyway. There has also been a lot of mod stealing with fallout 4 going on now that they're available to consoles and a lot of mod authors are hiding all their files from view.

I have all the DLC and I'm honestly just going to sit it out. I would rather have a new elder scrolls really instead of them messing with the skyrim community.

I'm very curious how old mods are gonna work out with it, too.

As for the other stuff, I think we're boned regardless. Mods on console are one thing, but a curated marketplace operated by Beth is a terrible idea, and they should have goddamn known that after the paid mods debacle on Steam where this exact thing happened.

Mods on console are a good idea, but I think they should get there because consoles get to be more like PCs, and that they should have to get them through the same channels. I definitely don't like what this is doing to the current modding community. I definitely do see some sinister first steps toward once again monetizing user generated content or otherwise trying to moderate the PC modding community (which is, tragically, a small proportion of Beth's playerbase).

Or I might just be paranoid.

I'm extremely skeptical about ME:A, but I have to admit it looks gorgeous.  Hope the rest of it is equal to the visuals.

I am skeptical too. I am keeping an open mind and hoping they really looked at all of the feedback and absorbed it all. I hate to say it, but no matter what I see and like, I doubt it will be a day-one purchase. I will most likely wait for reviews and decide whether I want to buy it then or wait until the price drops. However, I am incredibly excited about Dishonored 2 and the new Walking Dead.

The Gwent trailer was sweet.

But that "For Honor" presentation made me sweat. Can't wait for the beta to show up.

I never said that consoles shouldn't have access to mods. I actually think the idea is pretty cool if thought out well enough and it was definitely something I would have loved before I got into using a PC. However I'm not so sure bethesda ever handled it well to be honest. Mods are made by people with PC's who do it simply because they enjoy it and I would hate for a lot of them to get angry enough to up and quit mod making altogether....because then no one will have mods, or at least miss out on some really good talent. I'm not saying I have all the answers either, so I'm not exactly sure what should be done to stop all the stealing going on but from a lot of angry mod maker's I've spoken to, they feel like bethesda is not doing enough. I know I've certainly been seeing a lot of cool mods being taken down lately in protest.

Also steam was a fiasco and it was clearly a cash grab to rip off a lot of the mod authors and while I preferably don't mind this experiment being done with new games like fallout 4, I hate when it's eating into games like skyrim that have been out for years and have already established a big modding community; it takes years to make all those mods to where it is now and it could be a lot of hard work thrown under the bus.

That's just my two cents but  I'm pretty pessimistic though. Sometimes I feel like consoles hold back PC gaming lately, kind of like how the 360 held back inquisition but that's just me being salty I guess.
