Not a financial decision, according to Bioware:

Conal Pierse, on 29 Jul 2016 - 3:33 PM, said:
No, this was not a monetary decision. It also was not an easy one for us to make.

We understand that there are people who use and love these boards. And like them, we are sad to see them go. However, many of our players and staff now use other sites and networks outside of these boards, and we want to foster these interactions and support the great fan communities our players have built.

As always, we are committed to our players, and will continue to seek out and solicit their feedback. All of you are why we make games and what we love about gaming. This is the end of an era, but we will always, always listen to our players.

Thanks for the quote Elhanen

But this ogre believes that the decision is not entirely supported by this quote. Contrary, it is designed to purge and escape from any rational or irrational criticism provided on their very own forum where outside eyes see.

But I suppose when you've spent how many days ignoring even your own loyal fans who have made positive suggestions only to be ignored.. I guess taking down the forums is a way to hide their lack of passion. Not on unlike refusing to let your date see your smelly, dirty room that you refuse to pay attention too, out of fear of embarrassment.

Communities outside would be less visible and inviting than your own room. So they decided to rent out a room for their date instead in a way!

That video perfectly illustrates why I consider TW3 one of the best Games of all time and the new Gold standard for modern RPGs.

I guess the next battle will be who will create the best sci-fi RPG. I love Bioware but my money is on Cyberpunk 2077 but we'll see.

Awesome!

How are CDPRs forums anyway? I've been over a few times they seem nice not necessarily super active though.

just found out the news. I'm disappointed as someone who signed up around the NWN days.

I've always enjoyed coming here to discuss BW games with other gamers. Sure we don't always agree, but seeing a different viewpoint isn't a bad thing.

Anyway best of luck to all. This thread has been awesome. Been a pleasure discussing DA, Witcher 3 and who knows what else with you all.

Like Wolven Soul I'm not a fan of FB or Twitter. I was on FB a few years ago, but I think its gotten worse in that time.

Cheers.

Nice, very nice.

While watching that and thinking of this thread, 'Time of your Life' was playing in my head.

Has anyone ever gotten Svanrige as the ruler of Skellige?  I honestly forgot about him as the game focused heavily on the choice between Creys and Hajalmar.  After seeing this clip, this dude is not only badass but seems to be the better ruler for Skellige overall.

To see the Svanrige outcome start at 4:08

I got him in a second play through just trying to get a different outcome and was pleasantly surprised at how well the true neutral path turned out. He easily became my favorite of the three.

Oh, I haven't gotten that one yet. Tried both Cerys' and Hjalmar's path. Looks like I'll have to resist doing either of their quests this time around.

Popping in to say hey, and that I think I'm done here, guys. This was frequently the best thread on the BSN, and I spent way too much time here. A lot of great conversation was had, but in the face of the forum's closure, I think it's probably best to just back away quietly. This place (not this thread necessarily, but let's face it - probably) is gonna get ugly over the next few weeks.

So, thanks for turning me on to The Witcher games. It was mostly due to the enthusiasm of a few posters in this thread that I persevered. The third game is a triumph, one of the very best I've ever played, and after a year and then some, I'm still poking through all the content in my first and only playthrough. The first game still sucks. Trolllolos are still stupid and adorable.

It's been real.

From what I've seen, some people are creating forums. Some look better then others, and they're including a Lobby as Well. Maybe this thread can continue in one of those forum.

Like you, I haven't done this yet.  By googling,  I found out you can do both Cery's and Hjalmar's quest, Just don't go to Kaer Muire until you get to Battle Preparations.

You can just refuse to help them during King's Gambit, they won't find out who poisoned the alcohol and Berna's son will become King.

Smaller community, yes. More lenient on the language and overall tone, but also more moderated than it used to be. Should gain a lot of users when 2077 is ready to launch.

I finally finished the game and I'm so sad now :crying:

Seriously through, I think TW3 is the best that the open-world RPG genre has to offer and I just love how much the game makes you care about the characters (not only the main characters...but also minor NPCs like Keira, Priscilla, the Baron, Shani, Syanna in Blood and Wine, and so on). The fixed protagonist didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, but I'll always welcome the ability to customize my character.

My only real problem was that the story was sometimes really confusing for someone like me who is not familiar with the Witcher universe. I suppose that those whose first Mass Effect game was ME3 or started the series with DA:I had the same problem and it's probably unavoidable jumping this late in the series...I mean, there are all these characters Geralt has a long history with. But I also didn't really understand the ending for example and was left wondering about how exactly Ciri stops the white frost. Yennefer and the last wish side quest is another example....and I ended up romancing Triss before having more than one conversation with Yen at the beginning when she's rather cold towards Geralt.

As for Bioware games being more like TW3, I'm sure everything has already been said: Better animations, open world immersion/design, side-quest design are things I'd like to see.

And Gwent is so much fun  :D

Bioware could also take a page from CD Projekt Red's book, by once again giving a **** about its fans.

'The last wish' is actually the story of how Geralt and Yenna meet each other. So to fully understand all the context, you have to read that chapter in first witcher book-------The Last Wish.

The events in the game are second hand reports as Geralt told them to Dandelion and he has written them down and narrating them in the game. It is presumed that Ciri, if she survived, has not spoken with Dandelion about what went on with the White Frost therefore we will probably never know what happened.

Fingers crossed for a Ciri centered game  :)
