Feminism is most definately about gender equality, with the want for women to be equal to men.

I've actually been quite shocked recently by the movement on tumblr (and many other popular feminist websites) to redefine the words sexism and racism so that they only apply to gender and race discrimination aimed at women and ethnic minority groups respectively.

As much as I've agreed with their general principles and movements in the past I can't help but feel that the internet, and tumblr in particular, are becomming increasingly extreme and out of touch with reality echo chambers.

Tumblr is insane.

Tumblr is not an accurate reflection of real world attitudes, thankfully.

Jeremy should never have punched one of Top Gear's producers in the face to the point he needed stitches.

And the BBC shouldn't have shot the golden goose, give him a slap on the wrist and keep your most popular show. Its simple really.

There was a high-profile case here recently where an equalities lead on a student union sent out dozens of invitations to an event then said that male and white students werent allowed, but she didnt have the patience to filter out invitations to them, leading to people being turned away. When there was an outcry she defended herself by saying that, as an ethnically minority woman, it was not possible for her to be sexist or racist. It was also uncovered that she called another student "white trash" on the official union twitter account.

Well it is tumblr :P

Yeah, the internet is going slightly crazy in regards to Feminism. I've taken to drowning out the radicals on both sides (MRA v 'Feminazis'), it hurts your brain if you don't. But that is the internet, it gives everyone a voice for better or worse. Also tumblr

Except they are against celebrities getting away with things regular people wouldn't, and rightfully so. Assault shouldn't be punished with just a slap on the wrist. The BBC made the right call.

Being courageous, smart, determined and so forth is not dependent on how a person 'feels.' No amount of 'feeling' intelligent makes a wrong answer right or clumsy reasoning elegant.

I would argue that courage is a feeling, like confidence.

We never see the reasoning in the game, and I think we never should. That should always be our invention, so if you want the character to have elegant reasoning you can give the character elegant reasoning. Or clumsy reasoning. Whatever you'd like.

If you don't want to give wrong answers, don't. I concede that this can sometimes be difficult with the paraphrases.

Would like to see the Pause function, as well as other possible tactical combat DLC and/ or mods. A transparent UI might also be helpful; uncertain.

Once he assaulted the producer, they didn't have much of an option.

However, Clarkson's mercurial nature was well known. If they had wanted to avoid this sort of thing, they should have managed him better.

Given the circumstances, sacking Clarkson was necessary. But the BBC isn't blameless in having created those circumstances.

I know, but I was pretty upset when I found out that high-profile feminists like Anita Sarkeesian (who I always considered relatively balanced and rational even if I didn't agree with several of her points) were also on this "women can't be sexist, unless they being sexist against other women" bandwagon.

Not good enough. Reasoning is not the underlying process behind the intelligent answer, reasoning is the intelligent answer. The protagonist is not being intelligent because he likes talking to himself. He's being intelligent as a means accomplish an end. It's a quality that acts in relation to the outside world. Is another character going to be convinced when the protagonist says "We should choose this option" and nothing else? No. It's irrelevant how good your headcanoned reason is it if only exists in the protagonist's head.

Same for any other quality. I don't care how awesome the person is if all he does it sit on his bed. I don't care if he's the most confident person in the world. It doesn't mean anything if we don't see it.

Agreed. I am still exploring Novigrad and the city is huge. It really does feel like a major city. Oxenfurt was large and big in and of its own right but this, this is awesome.

Now this is what Val Royeaux should have been like. We should have had this huge region for a city, where you could see how the orlaisian civil war is effecting people, by having refuges  or comments in the taverns. You should see shrines and churches to andraste often in the city, with even more priestess giving sermons, Val Royeaux is the capital of the Southern church. You should be able to wander the streets and see taverns filled with people, and listening to music(hey more bard music is good).

Novigrad does this, and this is what Dragon age should take away, make a city that feels like how it is described and see it in its glory and darkness.

I'd love to see a Val Royeaux of this description. I feel like they have that ability in the next DA also depending on the plot or the circumstances. Maybe if say the Qunari, or Tevinter officially came marching down on Orlais and Fereldon. Or something of that nature.. I think it'd be a fantastic sight to see said Val Royeaux.

Since we're going north next game, it is doubtful. That said, there could be a DLC involving Val Royeaux that shows it off.

Nothing to redeem. The Dragon Age franchise is better than the Witcher franchise.

Sorry; not feeling it. This is only a note on a board; may need a cut-scene to make such a comment immersive....

Is this from an 'objective' pov? Where we use standards such as party, CC, more freedom of 'love interest' and what not? I'd agree with that if it's the case

From an RPG stand point, I am feeling more witcher myself.

I love almost everything about the witcher series at this point but this post was completely not necessary -- it only brings flame bait. reconsider that next time.

One aspect that the Witcher covers really well and I was left wanting in DA:I is the horror aspects of certain enemies.

I'll take two examples, in The Witcher 3 there are 3 "Crones" (witches would be a better description) that exert immense power over Velen.  To say they are unpleasant would be an understatement, I felt like I needed a shower after talking to them and the entire swamp should be left int he capable hands of Aerys of the House Targaryen second of his name or the High Prophets of the Covenant Regret, Truth, and Mercy.

Seriously those 'women' (using the term extremely loosely) singlehandedly make the case for oppression of mages in TW3 universe.

Whereas in Dragon Age there is some sever lack of seeing the horror aspect of many vile creatures and people.  Red Templars are the best example I can think of given the lack of abominations, though I suppose the Envy/Nightmare demons might work.  We hear about how horrible lyrium transformation is, and we run across people who have been through it, but it still lacks emphasis and punch.  There is no visceral reaction really and what should by all accounts be atrocious creatures, are fairly "clean" looking.

I won't even touch the botchling though

Can we get away from the infantile "my game is better than your game!" slinging matches please? It's been done multiple times in this thread and nothing ever comes of it save hostility.

Let's get back to feedback shall we?
