I have liked him since TME.. but I guess it is the attitude ^^

Same. I have to admit the voice actor did a good job with him too.

You people know that this is just a mod and that it does not affect your own game ?

You realize this is BSN right, where civil conversations between two opposing groups on opposing sides of a subject are absolutely forbidden and **** flinging is required?

I don't see why you want to mod a character, and change their personality and sexuality, when you can just play as the other ****** gender

Presumably because you don't want to play as the other gender.

For what it's worth, I'll throw my two cents into this topic -- some people, after all, seem to take the "insult to the creators" stand when opposing a mod like this, and ever since I tweeted that I welcomed the mod's return, I've received a fair bit of "I can't believe you would do that!" comments as well.

The way I see it, it's a bit like the concept of free speech.

I may not support what you have to say, I may even be vehemently opposed to it, but I support your right to say it.

So either I support the right of fans to take my characters and create their own versions of them -- whether it be in a mod, in a piece of fanfiction, or in fan art -- or I don't. Period. Anything else would be hypocritical.

And I do support their right to do so. What they create doesn't change the characters I made -- they will continue to exist as they are now, and aren't impacted one iota. Cassandra will continue to be straight, Dorian will continue to be gay, etc. etc.

Now, like free speech, having the right to make whatever kind of mod you like doesn't mean you are free from consequences. You are going to receive negative feedback from people who don't think anyone should want the kind of mod you're making -- but I don't think that negative feedback elevating to the level of harassment comes anywhere near the level of "appropriate consequence". I was angered by the harassment of the mod maker in the same manner I'd be angered by a book burning or a witch hunt against "evil pornography" or anything similar...and, yes, it is the same thing. Everyone who does that feels correct and self-righteous when they do it. That's the nature of a witch hunt.

So I support the right of any modder to go in and alter Cassandra or Dorian or whoever else to their heart's content, if that's what they want. Obviously I'd prefer they enjoyed the characters as we created them, but that doesn't matter. Change their appearance, change their sexuality, change their story, their ethnicity, whatever kind of headcanon you'd prefer.

That indicates neither my support nor endorsement of the content, but regardless of that I am not offended by its existence. Cassandra certainly is not, even if she could be. Hell, if it was fanfiction, she'd probably read it.

Reminds me of a quote by Neil Gaiman, who was talking about fan edits in the movie The People vs George. I will see if I can find it exactly, but the short version, he said that Fan Edits are legitemate ways to express the art. But he doesn't like it when people say "You need to do this or change that or remove that character" from his work.

It is pretty much the most provocative thing to say regarding any mods, really.

It's not like it makes a bloody bit of difference. What's the point of having multi-gender/race options if you don't bother to try them all?

I don't mind mods, considering I don't have to use them if I don't want to. If it's well done, tasteful and not done on a unicorn, go for it.

That's Zahn (Zhan?) from Farscape.  She's a Delvian priestess (9th level? 10th?)  One of the sweetest, and deadliest aliens you'd ever meet.  Known as "blue assed b*tch" amongst the Hynerians. :)

EDIT:  Checked.  Zotoh Zhaan.

Not many people have watched Farscape, and even less seem to have even heard of it. Because of this post, I now think I love you. XD

BTW theres a new Farscape movie in development.

I guess some just don't like playing other than their own gender.. or opposite one. Can't really understand why though, I think they are losing much by limiting themselves ^^;

So that people have options to get what they want. Having a vegan and non-vegan option doesn't mean you have to try both.

It provides some welcome variety If playing as a female character. As this is the third game in the series, being presented with yet another  female rogue companion  to romance for a bi or gay female player character. There is a good chance that these options have already being explored  in earlier games. While the only option left to explore is a bi or gay female warrior romance.

He should be liked for more than that reason, though kudos to them if they are happy. I found him represented very decently without insulting them with heavy stereotypes. He's more than just homosexual though. He's a rare Tevinter Mage who is not what all the books stated them to be, and he proved good people exist everywhere, even in places that sound like you are about to enter Hell. He should meet Fenris.

I doubt his being a slavery apologist would go over well with Fenris. :P

Is this just a variable flip to force enable a Female romance with Male dialogue, or did BioWare also record Female romance dialogue for her?

Gack!!!!

I think that's about all Dorian would be able to get out. Fenris is rather testy. I always thought of him as a slightly more cultured sounding Logan. Lot of rough spots.

Is Anders a more deranged Scott Summers then?

It's just hexadecimal code fix, so I believe the romance is with male dialogues, unlike Kaidan in ME1.

I can see it now!

At camp.

"Inquisitor! Do you have a moment?"

Inquisitor gets upset at the requisition officer and storms over, eyes all flames "WHAT?"

Requisition officer points to tent set aflame, hi-pitched screaming and low snarling coming from within.

"This might interest you Ser."

Inquisitor's eyes go wide. "MAKER! That's the last time I assign Dorian and Fenris the same tent!"

Actually, Anders is Angel, from BtVS.... I'm serious, that's where the inspiration was drawn. But for Anders to be Scott Summers, he would have had to be extremely errrr... uptight, which Anders is not.

Now I might make an argument that Cullen could have fallen the way of Scott but...

You people know that this is just a mod and that it does not affect your own game ?

Additionally, it is just a romance arc. A romance arc involving fictional characters in someone else's game.

Don't you see the absurdity that you have to possess to get offended or complain or make a big issue out of this ?

Sometimes, I just have to facepalm and headdesk at the number of people who are being offended for the sake of other people.

The only one here that seems to be making an issue out of anything is you.

I think the thread has been pretty light-hearted and civil thus far, despite differing opinions.

So, you could say that the only reason Cassandra romances a female Inquisitor in this mod is because she believes the Inquisitor is a guy. ;)
