It provides some welcome variety If playing as a female character. As this is the third game in the series, being presented with yet another  female rogue companion  to romance for a bi or gay female player character.

Come to think of it, Bio's been known to repeat themselves for no particular reason. In their D&D games every female LI is an elf or half-elf. I remember Gaider joking about maybe doing the same in DA, though I'm pretty sure Morrigan and Leliana had already been written by that point.

There is a good chance that these options have already being explored  in earlier games. While the only option left to explore is a bi or gay female warrior romance.

I don't see where character class (as opposed to social class) would have as large an impact on personality as race considering the latter is lifelong where the former is a choice made at some point. At least with Warrior or Rogue.

I disagree with the idea that doesn't impact someone's personality because it's a choice, especially when you take into account the several specializations. At the very least I think one's personality influences whether one follows the path of a warrior or a rogue.

Picture Isabela with her very specific choice of wardrobe as a warrior, taking the frontlines and "tanking". .... Well okay, she would probably the best warrior ever at keeping aggro and taunting if you catch my drift but uh... Yeaah, no. She's gonna have to believe to big fat clunky armor like Aveline or she's going to end up gutted. I doubt Isabela likes to wear heavy armor, tbh.

Or even worse: Try to imagine Alistair and his awkward, clumsy and insecure personality as a bard (with terrible seducing skills, probably...). It just wouldn't work. If you're either giggling or struggling to even picture that idea I've made my point.

First... I bloody hate mobile devices. Stupid touchpad...

Ahhmm... I think were about to edge close to a nature vs nuture argument here. Isabela and Alistair came to those personality traits due to early life experience which race is going to be a determining factor. Not saying class won't play a role at all, but with the exception of magic you're really not coming into a class at seven or so.

Sure they may not necessarily have gained those traits because of the class, but they've most likely chosen that class because it best fits their personality, so you're going to get rogues and warriors with certain personalities. I just think the more people get specialized in those classes, their personalities will shift with it. (An assassin might get more pragmatic than a templar and the latter might get more disciplined than the former, for example.) Though I also think it's a gradual process and not just "BOOM, now you're an *******. congrats" type of thing.

I wouldn't say Alistair chose his vocation considering Eamon sent him away. Cassandra did, of course, but that was after Antony died.

As I said, this is pretty much a nature vs. nurture, or chicken and the egg. :)

I think people with certain personalities also most likely chose warrior as job rather than rogue. Mage is bit different, cause you can't change that, but your personality somehow dictates if you are intrested of being soldier, guard or templar (likely warrior jobs) or assassin or thief (likely rogue jobs)  So I think it has some impact, although there is people like Sebastian who aren't very "roguish" personality-wise.

If you think personality traits rogues often are cunning, charming and have grey morals when warriors are often seen as strong-willed, righteous and simple. So there is some personality traits that are usually associated with certain classes and DA character somehow follow these as well for example Zevran, Isabela and Leliana fit to rogue archtype and Cullen, Alistair and Cassandra warrior archtype.

I don't think fighting style is a choice made in isolation it's influenced by things like personality, class(wealth) and job/why you need to fight.

Full plate armour and a heavy shield aren't suitable for a sailor, a shield can help protect a templar from certain types of magic, a noble can conceal daggers more easily than a sword.
