For what it's worth, I'll throw my two cents into this topic -- some people, after all, seem to take the "insult to the creators" stand when opposing a mod like this, and ever since I tweeted that I welcomed the mod's return, I've received a fair bit of "I can't believe you would do that!" comments as well.
The way I see it, it's a bit like the concept of free speech.
I may not support what you have to say, I may even be vehemently opposed to it, but I support your right to say it.
So either I support the right of fans to take my characters and create their own versions of them -- whether it be in a mod, in a piece of fanfiction, or in fan art -- or I don't. Period. Anything else would be hypocritical.
And I do support their right to do so. What they create doesn't change the characters I made -- they will continue to exist as they are now, and aren't impacted one iota. Cassandra will continue to be straight, Dorian will continue to be gay, etc. etc.
Now, like free speech, having the right to make whatever kind of mod you like doesn't mean you are free from consequences. You are going to receive negative feedback from people who don't think anyone should want the kind of mod you're making -- but I don't think that negative feedback elevating to the level of harassment comes anywhere near the level of "appropriate consequence". I was angered by the harassment of the mod maker in the same manner I'd be angered by a book burning or a witch hunt against "evil pornography" or anything similar...and, yes, it is the same thing. Everyone who does that feels correct and self-righteous when they do it. That's the nature of a witch hunt.
So I support the right of any modder to go in and alter Cassandra or Dorian or whoever else to their heart's content, if that's what they want. Obviously I'd prefer they enjoyed the characters as we created them, but that doesn't matter. Change their appearance, change their sexuality, change their story, their ethnicity, whatever kind of headcanon you'd prefer.
That indicates neither my support nor endorsement of the content, but regardless of that I am not offended by its existence. Cassandra certainly is not, even if she could be. Hell, if it was fanfiction, she'd probably read it.
Thank you for your reply, Mr. Gaider. It's refreshing to see your opinion on modding. It's even more refreshing to imagine Cassandra reading smutty fanfiction that features her and her female LI.
I still can't believe you reply to my first thread on BSN!

Lucky. I've wanted Bioware devs to post their views on a few of the threads I've made over the years but no such luck. ![]()
I dont like mods that changes a characters personality, it's disrespectful in my opinion. Just like how I think Dorian and Sera's preferences shouldnt be changed, I dont believe in changing the preferences of Cassandra or Cullen. But what does it matter, my opinion will only fall on deaf ears.
So long as opinions are expressed in this tone, I have no problem with your opinion. Too me mods are little like fan fiction, or other derivative works. All of them go against the original intentions of the creator. I personally have no qualms with someone swimming around with other people's ideas and coming up with something new (provided its tasteful, and we all have different ideas about that). If something strikes me as lore-breaking, I just avoid it, but that doesn't mean everyone else has to like idea. I just hate when people get vehemently angry about this.
Man if there was a DA movie (and no, not the animated one) she would be perfect to play Cass!
If Nintendo ever makes that Legend of Zelda tv series on Netflix, then Zelda Williams would make a perfect Impa.

I personally wouldn't use a mod like this. However I am glad it's available to those who would like to use it because surprise, surprise, it doesn't affect my game in any way, so keep up the good work mod-creators! These people do amazing stuff.

Hum I think is more an attraction archetype thing than that really. The same way there is a topic about a gays in shining armors and many gay men wanting to have Cullen or Alistair as romance. It is not about the short hair at all but overall personality and design.
Cassandra certainly is not, even if she could be. Hell, if it was fanfiction, she'd probably read it.
Bwahahaha. Great tag line:) Hmmm. I don't think I write stuff smutty enough for Cassandra. I'll work on that.
Anyone ever notice Cullen is such a Cassandra when Haven is destroyed?
So then you'd support those people who mod scenes of rape? That's a perfectly possible what if scenario.

I'd say 'whatever' and let the person make the mod if they want. It's not my business what other people get up to in their video games.

Has this turned into a thread where everyone can post pictures of hot chicks with short hair?
If so, I thoroughly approve. ![]()
In the end it's the good old "you don't have the right to criticize me because everyone has the right to do what they want", which, in case you didn't notice, is ridiculous. As long as the people offended by the mod do NOT try to stop others from using it, they can whine and ****** and judge you as much as they want.
Yep! And we got to tell THEM how despicable it is to start shaming people for making mods and playing them. Everyone's happy.
Anyway, I found Dorian mod through Russian forums(I've yet to meet a Russian player who'd consider any of these mods A Big Deal). Here we go:
http://daitools.free...n-mod-t555.html
(It's a very small modification, i.e. you aren't getting extra conversations with Dorian about how his father might've been right and how Dorian's been wrong all his life and the Inquisitor made him look at the world with the new eyes so on and so forth. Nope, it's just an extra romance trigger for female protagonists).

At least they responded to your demisexuality thread. ![]()
