I was just looking through my inventory when I noticed that some items (high-level rares and ultra-rares, like the Fury of the Veil staff and the Walking death daggers) have the text "not Salvageable" and can't, you guessed it, be salvaged. Has this been implemented for a long time or is it new? I guess it's there so a person won't salvage their top gear by mistake. If so, kudos, because that has been a great fear of mine

That's what I thought too but I think items become "not salvageable" whenever they are equipped on a character. I had two Staff of Dragon, equipped the slightly better one on all of my mages, and then I was able to salvage the lesser staff.

Grizzly is correct. So long as something is equipped you can not salvage it. Unequip it and exit the inventory screen and you are free to salvage it. Still nice to know you can't **** up with gear you're using actively though.
