Now, i'm assuming that the Product Key is the "Activation" key that was emailed to me? or is this wrong?

Freezing up when attempting activation of the game

I purchased and downloaded the game from Direct2drive, and now that it's installed, every time i've tried to either log in to my EA account or put in the product key during the innitial activtion when first pushing "Play", the "activation screen seems to freeze up on me, this time i've left it open for over an hour and nothing has happened, i only have the picture of that Krogan and no writing, no confirmation, or any other sign that anything is happening.

I am having the exact same problem. I am yet to receive an answer from the EA and Bioware support about this problem.
