I'm confused.  How are we able to dance with the Dowager Lady Mantillon in "Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts" if she was killed by Briala in The Masked Empire?

I assume it's different Lady Mantillion that's a relative of hers.

Maybe she's her daughter who's continuing the Dowager legacy or something.

Probably not the same person. The one that died was related to Gaspard by Florian Valmont.

Hmm? Gaspard and Celene are related, it's just a matter of degree I think. The book seems to imply the relation is distant whereas Inquisition seems to indicate they're first cousins or something.

Yeah. That could make exactly who is related to whom seem kind of different.

Yeah they're two different women. Lady Mantillon was Florian Valmont's lover, who started grooming Gaspard to take the throne, and when he didn't make any real progress traded him out for Celene. Marquise Mantillon (the one you meet in game) is just another Orlesian noble (probably a relative) carrying on her legacy. Also Celene and Gaspard are first cousins, Gaspard's mother Melisande, and Celene's father Reynaud were Florian's younger siblings.
