That's why I love Japan

They just don't care about that feministic nonsense.

Indeed. I love Japan. Never change.

The funniest part of his complaints is him asking why we as the player don't talk to the women in gigolo missions. Who the hell is trying to sit down and have meaningful conversations with the equivalent of a prostitute?

Played great as a Fox Engine tech demo.
Not so great as a near full priced game.

I got it for sale ($8) and still felt ripped off when I finished it. A demo with an already released trailer (they couldnt be bothered to make it a cutscene instead, nope, lets just throw in this Phantom Pain trailer we already released!) as an ending should not cost money

Soooo..... since everyone is claiming that the answer is sooooo obvious does anyone actually know what the in game reason for Quiet's skimpy clothes are? Or is asking such a question on these forums a faux pas that exposes me as a man hating feminist?

To be clear I have nothing against Quiet's outfit on the grounds of objectification or sexism, I just feel the costume is kind of lazy and poorly designed.

Have nothing against the squishy boobs though, if your going to be a pervert you might as well own the fact that you are a pervert, wouldn't be Metal Gear without a bit of perversion.

It played perfectly fine as a full priced game. It's length is the problem.

Quiet is probably related to The End and gets her super speed and materialization powers from the sun through her skimpy attire, hence why when we see her getting waterboarded by the Soviet Army, they have her covered up.

So what are we basing this theory off?

Story and gameplay elements of a previous game obviously. Are you serious?

Which Elements? The fact that the End was running around with his wang out in the sniper battle of MGS3? Oh wait that never happened.

I am basing this theory on what I've seen.

When Quiet is first brought to Mother Base she was easily able to get her handcuffs off through her materialization powers, when she was being tortured by the Soviet Soldiers, she couldn't use her powers to escape their handcuffs. I noticed they had her bundled up up to her neck in clothing and so I speculated that her powers come from sunlight on her bare skin. I noticed something similar to The End who also required direct sunlight to use his superhuman powers, and since he also was a sniper I concluded that they had to be related in some way, shape, or form. Plus she used her power to get rid of/bring out her "mascara" the same way The End used his power to get rid of his liver spots.

Got a better theory?

So far the reaction among my female friends has been something along the lines of "squishy squishy squishy squeeeze & liiiiifffft". Clearly the patriarchy has already warped their little minds, how else would they be able to blow off such a horrible mysognistic attack on the allwomen?

I haven't had a chance to play the MG games, but the oufit reminds me of the one Kusanagi wears in Ghost in the Shell. I've seen enough of MG that it has a lot of similar tech & themes to it? Guessing theirs some similar reasons for the outfit or atleast it's a nod to GitS?

Apparently the End was powered by photosynthesis or something equally stupid. Not disparaging the poster - Kojima had some weird ass ideas in Snake Eater.

Because if I'm reading this correct, and correct me if I'm wrong but your female friends are not butthurt over it, unlike the feminists.

I'm sure they'd love that Katsuragi in Senran Kagura coined the term "sexual kick-her-assment".

WHAT!? *falls off chair, rolls on floor with laughing fit*

Could be, I'm not sure how long GitS has been around in comparison to the whole active camo thing in the MG series. Both series are pretty old but all the camouflage stuff could have been introduced in the later games.

Kojima is a Master at weaving hyper realistic narratives, mixing real world affairs with that of fiction to an extent where the audience wouldn't notice or care to distinquish it. It works so well, especially with Metal Gear Solid 2.

Guns of the Patriots was a load of ****** though I feel there were several reasons for that.

In regards to Quiet's outfit. I find it dumb just as much as I found EVA's outfit dumb in MGS4. It's not like Kojima is incapable of the opposite, see Meryl Silverburgh, Amanda & The Boss as prime examples.

That...wow. That's actually really damn good. I really hope this turns out to be the correct theory.

Yeah, some of them outfits do seem a bit fanservice-y, but then again snake runs around in a tight-ass leotard so it kinda goes around for everyone.

Besides, its not the most sexist design kojima ever made. She's not wearing the equivalent of boob-and-thong-armor. She doesn't wear heels into battle. And she has at least something to cover her lower half from being all exposed. Not like that patriarchy-favoring design of objectification and sex-selling mentality: Raiden.

For some reason that sounds like a challenge? To be clear I am not having a go at you I am merely curious as to what evidence led you to your conclusion.

Personally I think you might be stretching a little too far, after all the End did not need to strip down to the buff in order to utilize his powers, besides the only torture scene with Quiet in it I saw was the electroshock torture in which the only alteration to Quiet's outfit was the bag over her head, plus they were inside which seems like a more effective method of neutralizing her sunlight powers (if indeed she has them) than dressing her up.

For all I know you could be right but at the moment I am not seeing a compelling reason to believe it, the evidence is flaky at best.

That was Snake's men torturing her deep inside Mother Base away from the sun.

Did you miss the part where the reds were torturing her in Afghanistan?
