Does anybody else suffer from this itching feeling?

Everytime I reach level 20,

I should enjoy playing my "complete" character.

But then I always get that strange feeling,

as if I am supposed to promote this character now.

And usually I give in,

and do that soon.

Which makes me start over again in Routine  :o

I blame the Devs for that mean system

But strangely I only have like 20 promotions yet. So crazy what heights others already reached.

By the way, wouldn't it be wiser to play on level 20 and get better gear instead of

promoting? For example, the health belt gives 200 HP which equals 40 promotions !

A number that I will probably never reach.

Same. I just don't enjoy wasting XP, and I like the feeling of playing stronger characters each time, even if the difference is minuscule.

I almost wince everytime I reached level 20 bc it is promoting time :pinched:

my Lego hit 20 yesterday but I delayed promoting him... maybe one more perilous dragon run first

but I wince as well when I see the wasted XP

To be honest, I've probably only played as a Level 20 maybe three times.

I generally promote the second I hit 20 and start the cycle all over again.

I'm not too hung up on promotions, so I don't mind playing as a level 20 every now and then. :) I tend to leave a bunch of characters at level 20, just in case I can use them to help make runs go smoother, and only promote them when I'm confident that the team will be able to handle themselves pretty well without much of my help.

.... and then you are Level 1 on routine and almost invincible because of your armor,
rushing through it while others want to do those 30-Gold-rooms :o

getting a bad conscience because of pushing the whole PUG,
waiting at the level-exit and thinking: "is it ok to go into the next level now or should I wait for them so that
they are satisfied, collecting their like 3 coins and army dirk" ?

Have all me characters at level 20 and I don't agree with your views(about feeling an urge to promote).

My stats are: 10+8 STR, 10+12 CUN, 10+14 WILL since Jan!
Haven't promoted anyone since then, haven't played routine since ages either! :D

Before dragoslayer always insta promoted.  Been playing at 20 since for gear.  Took me about 5 matches to realise you get an ability point at  20 since id never used it before

No, im not doing something less enjoyable in the name of progression, i dont remember garbage like this on mass effect 3 multi, atleast not to this extent.

i hate when devs come up with some ploy to make you grind more, even doing something less enjoyable. I wouldn't mind if you could just promote after aquiring a set number of experience but retain your level. Playing a class that has barley skills and no passives is boring as hell.

So no i never promote now, it does anoy me that everyone eventually will overtake me in character strength but im not so desperate to progress that i will forsake my own enjoyment for it.

I just skip routine with most characters. I only do routine with warrior characters to get to some guard building skills, but with mages and rangers i jump into threatning right away. You might get kicked once or twice, but thats still better then playing waste of time routine games.

Tough one.

I will never have the time, nor the motivation to play with character I don't enjoy as much, to farm promotions. So I usually did insta-promote, but mostly with the intention to tweak and improve my build some more.

Now with the respec thingy, I do it mostly out of irrational guilt... and because when you fail as a level 20, it's extra embarassing, and I can't handle the pressure of being frowned upon by all the pros for not promoting when I could. It feels as pretentious as running around on the sidewalk, carrying your savings in cash with both hands in front of you.

As long as you're not wasting other people's time to save yourself some, I have nothing to argue against that.

I never get kicked when I start out in threatening at level 1 because I create my own lobby and start the match before anyone else joins.

I figure if they join a threatening match with a level 1 in it, then they have no right to kick me since I started the match solo and gave them the option to join or not.

I can't say anyone has ever kicked me as a level 1 in threatening. It actually isn't a bad idea to get used to being more careful for perilous games.

Had this happen to me the other day: created a lobby and started a threatening match as a level 1 assassin. Solo'ed zone 1 without issue, then some pugs joined during zone 2. One got on the mic and "chastised" me for bringing a level 1 character into threatening (not sure if he realized that I cleared the first zone myself).

He convinced the other guys to kick me prior to moving on to zone 3.

Sigh...pug life, yo

Obviously you should've started a Perilous match, or joined my games. . . that or set to private and wipe on zone 2 for the first few levels.

Whoa, kicking the host out of their game is some serious bad manners. Hope they got "failure to connect to new host" :D

Same here, love playing level 20 complete characters, but feel obligated to promote for stats,

it's always nags at me if I don't

Wish they had a stat gain system, too, for perma level 20s

It's a bad system to make you feel like you're gaining nothing if you want to stay max level

Feels like wasted effort promoting sometimes, cause you then have to start all over, instead of enjoying your max character

I hate that system

Can't even remember keeping a level 20 for more than a few minutes. Instant promote, gotta improve those stats.

I'm sure I'm already overdoing it, but I'd feel more comfortable if I could solo Perilous with my eyes closed before I start regularly pugging it. Soloed a few with the AW, but I want to be able to walk through it with the rest of the classes just as easily.

I was thinking the same , you have a wasted ability point, and a lv 20 character you will not use it because you have to promote.

At leats when you could leave at 5/5, to promote in the past it had more sense, that way you could enjoy your lv 20 character and your 19th skill.

but *shrugs*, Biowar knows how to make a lv 20 char useless....

I also rarely play with a 20th level character.  I think it is what is holding me back from becoming..............

Whoa whoa whoa.....Now you have crossed the line.  A judgement animated gif....fine.  A judgement gif and smoking fine , but an animated gif of Betty Davis smoking and judging?  That is hardly fair.

People tell me in lobby sometimes that I should promote when I play my level 20 characters.

Sometimes I just wanna play with a completed build. *shrugs*
