I'm sure this has been asked here before many many times, but all the topics I've found are really old and I wanted some fresh opinions on this.
So I've just finished my third playthrough of ME2 and noticed something that I hadn't before.
When I'm blowing up the Collector base there's a Collector at the computer console as it's getting destroyed around him, then Harbinger says "releasing control".
It suddenly clicked in me that when he says "releasing control" he means he was releasing his control over the Collectors/Protheans, as opposed to when he says "assuming direct control" when he possesses a Collector directly in the battlefield. Only then could I see the look of despair and sadness in the Collector's eyes as he looked up at Harbinger then at the explosion coming up behind him. I felt really sad suddenly, like the poor guy knew he was finally free from the reapers' control but only as he was about to die.
If you don't know it's this bit: https://youtu.be/fgOCKSKO_2U?t=5m27s
Again, I'm sure it's been brought up many times, but not nearly as much as ME3's ending.
