Usually the label "free to play" carries with it the connotation of cancer, but is it fair to judge the quality of all free to play titles on the shoddy practices of others? What are some free to play games that don't entirely suck?

Path of Exile isn't bad for a free to play game though.

Planetside 2 if you prefer FPS, but it's also pay to win.

Not sure I agree with that, technically a free player can get all the benefits a paying player can get (except for the cosmetic stuff), just takes a hell of a lot longer.

Warframe is quite good on the technical level. The art style is pretty cool as well, shame the grind is a bit excessive.
Team Fortress 2, Dirty Bomb, Loadout. All pretty self-explanatory.

I haven't gotten too far in it yet but Neverwinter seems pretty cool. Says that it's also so popular lately and that they will be having free DLC'S in the future.
It gets really boring and repetitive sadly.

Get some friends. Then make jokes about the new seabase map in Uranus... The grind is then lessened.

Then what, pick between Salad V or the giant fusion core known as Nef Anyo?

Ghost Recon Phantoms is great if you have a bud or two to play with.
There's also Team Fortress 2, Hearthstone, Dota 2/Smite/League.

F2P games suck because if they were any good, they'd be able to charge you to play. Simple concept

Many charge you to play in roundabout methods i.e. Microtransactions.

Personally I don't see the appeal but I can't deny it's success, how did Dota get so popular? How is it worthy as an e-sport and why are the players calling themselves "pro-athletes"? Is there some sort of hidden depth to this deceptively simple game?

We're all free to play games that don't suck. We just have to pay for some of them.
