I was wondering why most armors (Aveline's guardsman armor, Armor of the Fallen, Comission plate, heck even the Elven plate armor etc.) seem to have the Grey Warden crest?

I know that the Dumar family/Kirkwall have a falcon on their coat of arms, but that looks absolutely nothing like what they're wearing on their chests.

Anyone knows? It has been bothering me since 2011 but I never got around asking about it.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection, I noticed there are a few differences, but they are so miniscule that one could indeed confuse them for Warden armors.

In WoT volume 1, there is a picture of a Grey Warden wearing the armor of the Fallen.

So, my best guess is this. While they were trying to extablish an unified look for the Grey Wardens, that was one set of equipment they came up with for Grey Warden Warriors.

Eventually, they settled for what we have today but, since they already had that one laying around, they just kept it.

So they are all Warden armors in the end?

Armor of the fallen is indeed Grey Warden armor. It is, in fact, the armor of a warden who went on their calling. That is why it's found in the deep roads. It is darker and colder looking than modern day warden armor, but you do have to figure that it's age could be several centuries old. I wouldn't be surprised that grey warden armor designs and style have changed many times over the course of the Grey Warden organizations long existence. Obviously modern day Grey Wardens like to be seen as more heroic than the one of the Fallen's time, which is why they go with blue and white instead of black and brown like back then.

The rest though, I have no idea why the griffon is plastered on everything.
