Feel free to direct me to where this has already been discussed, but I couldn't seem to find it in the 5 seconds I spent searching so I'm posting here instead. I've been on a soloing kick recently, and also been watching my buddy e-hoss try to solo platinum. I noticed that he loves to fire from cover, whereas I really only take cover for grabs, or when desperately trying not to take cover while getting away from a phantoms that snuck up on me.

So I'm just wondering how other people felt about cover vs. right hand advantage. I prefer RHA because I can hit without being hit, look around while reloading, and at least it feels like I can get out of there quicker if things start going poorly. Am I trading a ton of offense playing this way, or is it more of a gun by gun decision? It also feels like reloading takes longer while taking cover, but that is probably all in my head.

Thanks for the help.

Cover gives you DR, so sometimes it's good to have. RHA allows you to reload cancel, so your dps is higher.

It depends a lot on the situation: map, enemy, kit, weapon etc. If a game is laggy, I'll prefer hard cover because then I can be sure I'm not going to be hit.

Depends on the situation.  Use whatever is best at the time.

The only time I use hardcover much is to stabilize or improve the accuracy of some weapons. Also use it when there's no alternative (London hax), or to deliver pizzas.

Oh yeah, cheating space crabs and their drill rounds buttlazor, not that hardcover even reliably works there especially when you're offhost.

You shoulda be RHA-ing about 99% of the time when your choice is RHA or hard cover.

Hard cover is basically only useful for avoiding Praetorian laz0r damage.

Yeah, there are quite a few weapons where hard cover makes a HUGE difference.  Pretty much every SMG, and a lot of the Assault Rifles too (the Lancer and Revenant are prime examples).  The Talon is another one - if you are shooting a Talon with a scope on it from hard cover, it's almost like using a charged Arc Pistol.

RHA the game but hard cover is good for weapons with accuracy issues or instability like QMR pointed out. Also a good idea on some enemies with noted cover trolling capabilities like Praetorians, never a bad idea to pull into cover if you can when the eye beams are being fired. Also a good way to diminish DOT damage as well.

I use cover when I need to recover for a bit, or when I can't RHA.

Well, everyone here has already answered your question; RHA 90% of the time, though hard cover does provide ever valuable DR, so if you're getting shot from all over it could very well make the difference between getting shieldgated and finding whatever's shooting you.

While you're at it, tell E-Hoss I said he's a scrub :P

When banshee DoT starts to affect my health bar, I go into hard cover for DR.

I use hard cover for guns with poor stability - revenant, argus, etc.

Hard cover to avoid praetorian and scion shots (scion shots penetrate RHA more often than not)

If hard cover is nearby, I use it for atlas and ravager shots as well, especially off host. Atlas rockets defy all laws.

Otherwise, RHA.

I lied earlier on. I use hard cover all the damn time. Especially when I'm running away from Banshees.

Pls stay on topic, this is not about getting screwed over by the omnibutton, it`s about intentional hard cover usage.

RHA  Cover is for leaching low scoring scurbs ( I said it my way)  Very rarely will I hit hard cover (Praetorian Lasers or to re-gen shields slightly faster)

Thanks for the ammo guys, I will now pass on to E that he is a scrub, and should stop taking cover constantly while trying to solo plat at white.

(This is Hoss.  Z left his computer unlocked.  Rookie move.  I'll certainly try not being such a damn scrub and use RHA more often.  Now on to more important stuff, like me revealing when Z doesn't extract, he'll drop his controller, crawl on all fours over to the corner of the room, grab his one eyed sock doll, rock back and forth with his thumb in his mouth mumbling 'mama....... mama....... mama....'.  It's totally creepy, but he usually rallies and pulls it together for another run.

Also, Clyde- you're a complete SAVAGE.)

I need to be more mindful of this, myself.

My kill-em-all Fury ran out of gels last night during wave 9 on Thessia, and we wiped.  Was feeling personally responsible for the wipe, and probably rightly so.

I like hard cover whenever I'm reading at home, but when I'm taking a book with me I prefer to take the soft cover.

RHA wins by TKO in the fifth round, but the fight is declared "No Contest" after RHA tests positive for a PED.

My phone is 5.5", I read ebooks and comics on that sometimes and on my laptop, but I also like paper books. I do go to the local library a lot also and it's easier to check out most stuff in analogue format at the moment. I hear what you're saying though, I'm not disagreeing.
