So I know there are a few exploits about, but is it achievable to earn enough gold to buy schematics and items from the BE?

Given that we can sell crafting ingredients, there is no theoretical limit on how much money is available.

Snoufleurs.  They give you up to 10 skins per kill, and they're running all over the Emprise de Leon's frozen lake.  I routinely get around 5000 . . . moneys (wth is the currency?  damn!  I should know that) per short expedition.

I guess that video above covers it visually?

Pixels and polygons, my friend.  You can abuse, maim, kill and objectify them all you want.  No real beings will be harmed during your fantasy foray.

I found it very surprising that by the end of my first playthrough, I never came to a point where making/finding money was easy.  I was always close to broke, and had to really, really scrounge to buy the better items.  I can't remember ever playing a RPG where that happened before.  You usually get to a point where if you grind enough, your pockets are overflowing.

Metal grows as quickly as elfroot. At the beginning of the game both Haven and the Hinterlands gives you a lot of iron deposits to gather. And since I learned about farming chests I try that everywhere. The Hinterlands are good for that, too. Storm Coast and the Fallow Mire, not so much. Some metals are easier to get than others, so you can sell a lot.

P.S. And it's snofleur friendly,  ^_^

Same here.  Money remains a scarce resource throughout, particularly now with the Black Emporium.  I think that's a good thing.  Gold always has value.

You know, it might sound silly, but after 80 hours in my first playthrough, and 60+ part of the way through my second, it never crossed my mind to sell metals or any other crafting materials.  I've just looked at them as tools, essentially.

I personally didn't have much trouble making just enough money to buy what I needed to just by doing quests and selling off stuff I didn't need. If I ever wanted to get something expensive, and I didn't have enough, then I would go farm some Snofleurs. I didn't get rich, but I did well enough, no exploits needed.

Gold. Good times when we had sovereigns, silvers and coppers.

Those are the Fereldan names for the currency. I think they're called gold/silver/copper in DA:I because you travel in Ferelden and Orlais both (where they'd be called royals/crowns/bits).

Never had trouble having plenty of gold. With the inventory limit, I got used to always going through my loot and selling everything I didn't need. Even without selling crafting materials, this has always provided plenty of income.

Same here, pretty much. I found absolutely no real need for me to use any exploits. About the only thing I do in that area is Snofleur hunting, and only occasionally. I really don't get why folks are so upset at Bio patching out the gold exploit, it's not really needed, IMO.

I know, but I recently finished a play through of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and it was really hard for me to complete it by the challenge a friend put forth of subduing the enemies and then killing them.  It was just something that felt wrong.
